Great video. The ability of using the Canon software to take the shot, taking advantage of Live View, then auto import into Lightroom offers the best of both worlds. Thank you!

    Dear Joanie,
I discovered your channel a few days ago and I love it.
I started photography about 12 years ago, and thanks to CZcams and videos like yours I get more knowledge and new ideas everyday. Thank you very much for all your work and the way you share it with us.
Following you also helps me to improve my English, (I live in France).
Last week I viewed on another channel it was possible to tether from lightroom, but this way it was not possible to change the setup of the camera. Now I have to try with the software from the manufacturer to see how it works.
    Thank you again 👍

If you tether frequently, Capture One is worth the time and money. It does everything in one place without having to fiddle with several bits of disparate software, workarounds, creating folders etc. I use it for everything, cheaper than Lightroom in the long run too! Excellent video by the way

I am a product photographer and i am Totally with you on the cons of wifi connections of the dslr cameras. We went to moon 50 years ago, we have self driving electric cars, yet, a digital camera from any major manufacturer can hardly keep a connection yet alone transferring raw files in a reasonable time. I think manufacturers should stop working on how many more pixels they can fit in a sensor, and work on this connectivity issue.

one thing you did forget to mention, a company called 'teather tools' also make some accessories for this, cables, and an interesting accessory called a 'teather table', this attaches to a tripod, and acts like the old projector stands, to sit your computer on, while working.

Funny, last night I ordered a long 15' cable to tether, I used before with a small cable and works awesome, plus if you use it with a laptop during a remote/external photo shoot you are automatically creating a backup of your files which is great if your camera doesn't have dual memory cards. and you can sync your files to Adobe cloud so you can get those at home right when you get back or if you just prefer to make your postproduction on your bigger powerful desktop computer.
Nice video, I bet it will be very helpful for a lot of us.

Capture One renders a sharper image. I use to use lightroom, until I shot with capture one. If you shoot a raw image with lightroom, then the same image with capture one, you will see Capture one is much sharper when you pixel peep. This is why almost all top commercial photographers use it over lightroom.

good video, but what if lightroom can't see the raw file format, ie : .NEF for nikon, I have to dng convert first, then import to lightroom, or go straight from the card. and by the way, Capture one is used by pro's as this does the work for you, (Phase One XF\XT cameras are designed to import STRAIGHT into it, as the same company makes BOTH software and hardware), And capture one adjusts the "scene" to what you have done before (batch editing), but AS the files are imported, so you get a polished shot straight away.
