and the Comintern was dissolved in 1943
In here, Spain joined a bit later, not immediately, and there was no Comintern. Mongolia, China, Vietnam and North Korea joined because they were Allies of the Soviet Union.

@@fadingblack272 China wasn't allies with the Soviets in 70s they had border conflicts also North Korea was more aligned with the Chinese. Mongolia- yeah they're most likely to join since they're part of Soviet bloc but it won't be that significant anyway. Vietnam? Unlikely, sure they were allied with the Soviets but i dont think they can do much anyway, especially after grueling Vietnam war which was gruesome for both USA and Vietnamese. At best i can see the Soviets use their naval base in Vietnam but that would be bombed by American bombers based in Phillipines anyway.

In reality it would have escalated to a full scale nuclear exchange within days if not hours. The 7 days to the Rhine plan involved using nukes from the start. And the US would have responded in kind with both sides quickly escalating. And with 47,500 nuclear warheads flying around everyone would find out if the afterlife was real or not.
Maybe. Then again, the plan also assumed that nato strikes the Warsaw pact first, using tactical nuclear weaponry and advancing into east germany. The plan was meant to be a counter-attack.
@@korvmaster229 Let's think about that for a second. NATO strikes the Warsaw pact in a surprise attack. But doesn't hit any of the major bases, airfields and command centers where all the soviet armies would have been. Allowing them to launch a massive counterattack. I don't see how such a premise makes any sense. If NATO leadership was insane enough to launch the first strike they would have gone all inn. And in turn the Soviets would have responded with everything as well. The end result being the northern hemisphere being glassed into oblivion. There is no scenario where a conventional war wouldn't quickly devolve into a nuclear exchange.
Well not everyone would find out if the afterlife exists in a nuclear exchange, the “nuclear winter” is only a theory that some scientists don’t think would actually happen
@@robertalaverdov8147 i think they assumed that if they counter-nuked the invading NATO-divisions, that it would even the playing field, allowing for a counterattack, even if their own divisions were similarly damaged(idk if it would work, im just saying, that was the plan). Also, they assumed that NATO would not strike the soviets directly, and instead only strike the soviet troops residing in eastern germany, and their supply lines in poland.

China probably wouldn't have sided with the soviets. relations between China and the Soviet Union had not yet normalized from the sino soviet split. and wouldnt do so till until the late 80s
Neither Romania nor Poland. Romania would have despised the war, being an opponent of the Soviet Union, and the Poles would have gone into a civilwar if they have joined the war

@@SteinadlerYT not really, Romania and Poland was still in Soviet bloc and warsaw pact. Also saying civil war would happen is dumb, the communist government was still in tight control of these countries, solidarity party wouldn't gain major power in Poland until late 80s.

Yeah, I got to disagree with this scenario. I remember 77 in the US military was a shambles then morale was nonexistent chaos in the ranks and I don’t even think France was in NATO at the time.
Also I think this scenario is wrong because the Soviet Union at the time we were number 1 had the largest army and the most tanks and spend the most on the military with the most nukes we would probably win

It is 1977 soviet union was weakened by Leonid Brezhnev policies, harmed the the economy so badly
in Stability, and other factors like morality and the amount of yk bad things happening in the Eastern bloc a lot of people wouldn't join the soviets unless if the government forces them to (I think). also 1977 was a year when the Soviets were tied up with the Americans, and no the Soviets did not have more nuclear arson like the U.S did. In fact they only passed them in 1978. Also the americans had more morality than the soviets, and probably better tactics, like Guerilla Warfare which was used during the times of the American Revolution being one of the main reasons why they won the Revolution. Soviets did also not have better technology during the late 1970's with less nuclear arson, and better tank (I think) holding heavier and possibly more destructive weaponary. Either way this war would've ended in a stalemate at minimum.

@@ri12i42 ww2 ended in 1945. do you really think that all of the soviet soldiers that served in ww2 would be still in the army in the late 70s? also, the reason they have only 6 million here is because they're constantly suffering casualties.

I like how the author ignores geography, logistics, and experience of the parties. If there had been a war between NATO and the Warsaw Pact in Europe, then it would have been a clear victory for the Soviet side (if, of course, the conflict would have occurred without the use of nuclear weapons). I don’t know about Great Britain, but the Soviet Union would not have been able to land in the USA - also because of logistics and geography. Even if by some miracle the Soviet Fleet with 500 thousand troops reached the shores of the United States, then providing these troops would be a logistician's nightmare - about the same as providing European troops with US troops.

their army would steamrolled Western Europe whilst their air force gets dogged on, basically meaning nothing because the industrial military complex would surpass the Soviet production level in like, 24 hours

But NATO's superior technology especially in aircraft would slow them down. NATO's population and industry is way bigger than WP's so over the course of the war NATO would easily outnumber them in terms of soldiers and equipment. The fact that NATO's equipment was better aswell would make it clear who would win in the end. Until they both decide to use nukes and everyone loses.
