    Bro, your skills are insane. If I could learn even half of what you know, I'd be a happy man.
    I can't spin-throw a knife for shit, and my knives get quite scuffed since I practice on concrete and have no grass or trees around to practice on.
    Still, you've taught me very much, and I'm proud to call you sensei/shifu/teacher

    I've been trying the step back drill. It definitely helps make me better at further distances. Your videos give me new ideas for getting better at no spin and half spin. I'm fairly good at full spin but I've gotten great tips from you that have helped me get better at it. Thank you my friend

    Hi Adam!
    All your drills are right on! The only one I've never tried is throwing from the lying down position. Another drill I often use is walking at a diagonal away from the target - I quickly turn around and throw. Another drill I like is having two or more targets within 1 foot of each other (horizontally) ... but staggered from me at different distances by about 1-2 foot difference to each other. This way you have two or more targets at different distances without having to move, and when you do increase the distance, you're constantly having to change your grip for each of the targets. I've been throwing over 50 years since I was about 10 or 11 years old. When I get a chance I'll take a picture of my favorite throwing knives so you can see.

    You're right about the injuries. I nearly destroyed my rotator/ rotator cup back in the beginning of the new century. Knife, hatchet, dart, star, even archery..., all was how I passed the free time away. So I did the same to my right arm. Dam I was pretty freaking good. I'm planning to get back at it since I've healed as much as nature will allow. I just need a place to practice. It's been made clear that my apartment is a no go.

    • @utrak
      @utrak Před 3 lety

      So I received them already, shipped monday, arrived today wednesday.
      Interesting knives. I was surprised at how not pointy they are, the tip is more like a small size philips screwdriver as the very tippy tip is flat. Overall finish is good, as expected.
      I went and tested them for about an hour, here are my thoughts so far. As expected given the design, the knives are rear-heavy. This took some getting used to, but it seems to make sense. The semi-blunt tip sticks just fine (in my favorite standing dead tree target).
      *Full spin:* definitely need to adjust my techniques for these knives. My main full spin throwers are Cold Steel Perfect Balance and Cold Steel Sure Flight Sport, they have a very different balance and grip. I'm used to a handshake grip, but I guess a pinch grip may be more suitable with these? More practice required!
      *½ spin:* I find the Vengeance Beginners to be military ½ spin BEASTS. I get such a consistent release thanks to the tapered blade, and very consistent long range flight thanks to the slender design (where a more conventional flat blade design may suffer from increased air resistance, causing the knife to flutter about erratically on multi-spin throws). During this first hour of testing, as neither ½ spin or 1½ spin was any challenge at all, I ended up sticking many 2½ spin throws with ease. I really enjoy ½ spin throwing, but my other knives aren't all that suited for it - the Sure Flight Sports are okay-ish for ½ spin, but these are SO much better.
      *No spin:* well I'm still definitely a novice at no spin, until now I've gotten the best results by far with the Sure Flight Sport knives. I can tell the Vengeance Beginners have great no spin capability, but again, thanks to the different design and balance compared to my other throwers, it's almost back to square one learning no spin with the Vengeance Beginners. At very short range I can stick them basically every time, so I'll start from there and do the step back drill.
      *Conclusion so far:* definitely happy with my purchase. These are now my number one ½ spin throwers by far. They've really filled that ½ spin void in my collection. I'm looking forward to more full- and no spin practice to improve my skills with these.
      So would I recommend these to a beginner? Oh yes, definitely. These knives clearly have a lot of potential that you can tap into as your skill grows, and the tip design also makes them very safe. I started out throwing nails and screwdrivers, but soon after switched to a Cold Steel GI Tanto. Good thrower for a tactical knife, but I had a ricochet accident resulting in a LOT of blood and some stitches, a hard lesson in thinking about what you throw and what you throw at.

      don't forget about axes, see what you can find locally of small camping axes, they can be awesome throwing tools. One of my favorite throwing tools is the cold steel special forces shovel. I throws like an axe, only better.
