    Nobody wins in an MLM. When you said network marketing I immediately thought MLM - they are predatory. You are NOT a failure if you can't make it work, they are designed to make you fail then think YOU are the problem so you spend more money. Check out some income statements on MLMs, MOST people don't make any money - and they doesn't include costs. Therefore it can be assume most people LOSE money. I could be wrong about the MLM but still good info to have about them, just say no to MLM!

    Thank you for sharing your story. I can definitely relate. We paid off all of our credit card debt at the beginning of this year but didn’t stick with the plan. I’m embarrassed to say but we ended up back in debt by over 100k. Credit cards a 50k+ car loan, side by side, dirt bikes....oh goodness the list goes on and on. But I think your absolutely right that something has to click and I believe their is a right timing for everything. We are now on our debt free journey for the second and LAST time!!!! Good luck to you!!

    Hi Kristin! Your story is great and very encouraging!!! I know what you mean when you say that there’s a black cloud over you or beside you.... I feel the same way; I make pretty good money, and because of my bad behavior with it, I’m paycheck to paycheck, chasing every little penny... that’s what brought me to CZcams to try to learn and pay off my debt and start fresh with no strings attached. Your videos are great and full of workable tips! 😃👍. I’m done-As Dave Ramsey says....!! Enough is enough, I have to make it work!

That is the key if we don’t change them we will continue to go into debt. It’s s mindset n you found yours. Totally love your honesty n transparency. we are going into our 60’s n didn’t save or prepare for the future retirement but I’m trusting God that we will learn through “Financial Freedom “ how to get prepared n get rid of our debt. Thank you for sharing...I read the total money makeover and listen to Dave Ramsey everyday and watch his CZcams regularly have helped me focused on my journey on paying off my credit card..I don’t shop and eat out anymore even for my birthday my husband wanted to take me out I said no Cause I know it’s gonna cost us at least $100 besides I am a great cook lol...eating out usually disappointing and too expensive. We have no mortgage no car payments and no credit cards debt, but I cook every meal and haven’t gone shopping in months except for groceries, I make a list when shopping and stick to it. I told my friend about my journey and progress I think it keeps me honest to myself. I know it seems forever and soo hard but you can do it! Yes! I can so relate. My husband and I paid off all of our debt 4 years ago after he received a settlement. We didn’t change our habits though and ended right back in debt. We started the baby steps March last year and we’re almost 1/2 way through bs2. Now we budget every month, use cash envelopes and sinking funds. Like you said, something just clicked and I know once we pay off the debt this time there’s no going back.

    I wish that schools had mandatory classes on these subjects for high school seniors or even classes other than just economics in college. When my husband and I got married we have no debt and weren't making a lot but we seem to be able to buy anything that we wanted to and the first thing I did was go and get a bunch of credit cards. This still wasn't a problem for about seven years and then my daughter was born. And if I had been wise enough in those first seven years stash away everything that we made in excess of our mandatory payments we could have saved quite a bit of money to help us during the time that I was off work when my daughter was born and wasn't getting paid during that time. We did manage with that but as the years went by and we bought a house that required a lot of work we got into debt and we had a second daughter. The interest rate on our house was up around 12% back in that time and the Air Force Base we worked at was being closed and in order to keep our jobs we had to transfer to Texas. We weren't able to sell our house and had to turn it over to the government losing all equity but the trade-off was we did not have to make any more payments on it and they would sell it. So we moved to Texas and bought a nicer home at a lower interest and our payments were smaller than before but we were having to start over on a 30-year mortgage. We could have again started saving and paying off all credit cards but we needed to furnish our new house and the credit cards were there and so easy to use. To cut to the big problem, my husband lost his job and I had depression with panic and anxiety and had to take a disability retirement. Our income was cut 75% and we still owed $40,000 on our house. My little income could not pay our bills and the house payment so my husband took the last of the money his parents had left him and paid off our house. it took two years for him to get back into employment and wasn't making anything close to his previous job and we ended up with $140,000 in credit card debt. It seems like since that time I have been obsessed about our debt. We went through all of our savings bonds and I had to cash in my retirement accounts early and we reached the point where we had nothing left in savings and kept making payments as we could.Skip to now. We are now both retired and in our mid-60s am I have a positive outlook because we are down to about $15,000 in credit card debt. It has been a long road because I started working when I was 21. I have also gone to a cash-only basis and I'm using the snowball method to work on are remaining debt. I have enough in savings to pay it all off but I'm holding that for emergencies plus we are raising two grandsons. Today I paid off a credit card I have been paying on for 12 years. I have learned I can go in a store without buying anything. I have started saving All My $1 bills and change and maybe we'll save enough to take the boys on a vacation in a couple of years. But I do feel like I lost about twenty years of my life with the debt hanging over my head. You are still very young and can be a success story at a much younger age than we are. I was left a small amount of money from my uncle and from my parents and that is the only reason I have money in savings. if I could go back and start over this would definitely be a different story. But for now I believe the light at the end of the tunnel is not a train anymore. I wish you and your family the best on your debt payment Journey. I'm sorry this was so long.

      Celia, wow, thank you for sharing your story with me!! It’s pretty amazing that you are still committed to becoming debt-free. It’s very sad how easily we can fall into such a mess over time and how difficult it can be to get out!
      I completely understand how you feel, I tell my husband all the time that I feel we wasted the first 15 years of our marriage...but there’s not much we can do about that!
      We are debt-free now and intend to stay that way an hopefully be a good example for our kids on what not to do!!
      Xx

    • @KristinStones
      @KristinStones  Před 4 lety

      It can definitely snowball both ways! I think it’s sometimes harder to stay out of debt than get out of debt. I think it comes down to changing your habits bc you can pay off debt but if your habits aren’t changed those habits will push you right back in.
