According to reports, India’s freelance community is projected to grow to $20-30 billion by 2025. It is also forecasted that the online freelance marketplace could add $2.7 trillion to the global GDP by 2025.
What is Freelancing ?
Freelancing- Freelance, freelancer, or freelance worker, are terms commonly used for a person who is self-employed and not necessarily committed to a particular employer long-term.
Why is it growing?
Two types of jobs in India. Govt vs Pvt (Security). Job security is the most common criteria for Indian society. So during covid many of us lost their jobs. During these times it is necessary to have multiple source of income which freelancing could provide.

India's largest IT services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) hired over 1,00,000 freshers in FY22 and will start FY23 with the hiring target of 40,000. In addition, the company made a record hiring by adding 1,03,546 people for the year ending March 2022.
Most engineers in It do not tend to do freelancing. It is quite necessary for them to learn new skills and expand the range of skills. It is common misconception in India that only designers and artists only do freelancing and not Engineers.
