The holidays got us feeling pretty nostalgic, so we decided to buy a bunch of awesome toys we wanted when we were kids in the 1990s. Some of these toys are from the 80s and some are from the 2000s, but we think all 90s kids will remember them. And even if you're not a 90s kid, you still might recognize a few. This is The D-List!

Also we know some of these toys aren’t *from* the 90s, but they were nostalgic to all of us! What was your favorite car toy?
I used to have a large collection of matchboxes I think I still have most of them.
Hot wheels
Hotwheels
my presents were all cars except some bluetooth headphones lol
so now I have a total of 572 cars
bruh im from 2000's and i had 70% of those toys and were not broke
also merry christmas :D
The road mat is one of the most nostalgic things in existence
Yeah that hit me in the feels, mines still in the basement
I don't know what happened to mine but now my sons have one! 😂
My brothers got one
Can't believe they didn't even mention the mat! Those things are 🔥
Biggest city in existence. My hot wheels are excited every time they drive there lmao.
WHOA... SAW MY OLD WHIP IN THE THUMBNAIL!!
Same here bruh
xD
James' new hairline is your old whip?

That toy was made in the 80's .....
That rug was the most nostalgic for me I spent literally years driving hot wheels on that thing.
I had one of those rugs a while ago I miss the good ole days by the way I’m a 2000s kid
Had one untill I was 11y/o, then my mom gave it to one of het coworkers toddler, so that he can have a great childhood too. I don't feel too bad about my loss tho
i used it to start my channel
I couldn't afford one so I imagined it on the regular rug 😭😭😭😭
Me too and I was not in the 90s I was in the 2000s 2008
That Tomy "Racing Turbo" hit me right in the feels :-) i had one of those, was one of my first "western" presents i got after the fall of the wall in 89/90...
Underrated post.
my man cherrygs was the 80s german kid he was talking about lol
Not only Germans but whole rest of Europe
I was a young parent in the 90s. I remember buying many of these for my kids and they STILL talk about them to this day! My boys had the town road map area rug in their room. Knex was awesome! Merry Christmas to the donut crew!
Damn, wish my parents would of. My mom was busy working 2 jobs and my dad was off doing heroin and cocaine somewhere.
Love my mom, at least she tried.
Merry Christmas random person
I had the hotwheels garage back in the 80's loved it to death. That and my huge crown walkman with fuzzy orange foam headphones where my most prized possessions.
@BKNY FINEST hey, we're here though 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
i love knex, i still do
This episode will be forgotten by many.
Because only 90s kid will remember it
Today's kids are busy on tiktok
Funny I hate tiktok and all I got for Christmas were hot wheels and jeep parts
Dang I was born 8 yrs too late
@@amaansiddiqui2030 man, tiktok can be nice too
Ikr i loved these toys
k'nex for the win! Also... a HUGE part of k'nex is putting it together man xD
There was a "toy?" Like k'nex but they were like plastic balls and you could hook them together and they had motors and all sorts of stuff, they floated had wheels so they drove. Those were the best toys can't for the life of me remember the name though
The HotWheels tracks were the absolute best. Building them how you wanted and adding more of the thruster things to keep the cars going at full speed.... Unbeatable
This should be a d-list holiday tradition no joke
JAAAMMMEESSSS NOTICE MAAN PLSSS

Yall, upvote this so donut staffs could see this
I'd definitely watch another one or two of these. keep them coming,I'll keep watching.

Kids of the early 2000's :
ong im. 15 and i remember most of them
2000 is the best year to be born, change my mind. When I'm old and forgetful I'll always remember how old I am with basically no thinking involved
Kids pre 2006 will probably know all of this

Sounds more like a bogging down pushing lawn mower tbh :D
I had one of those and apart from it being AWESOME - I seem to remember the sound being generated mechanically with a motor/ticker I think which is why it sounds like that - but as a result it kind of felt even more real because it wasn't purely speaker driven (or didn't seem to be).

Gotta say transformer toys were one of the best. it was like a two-in-one kinda toy

The only thing I had a problem with them was the car design
They sometime show cracks
This whole episode was just a reminder of how poor I was growing up lol

My mom bought me those 99 cent store cars with the jumpy suspension, lol. And broken toys from the swap meet.
Ahh, your mom must not have found the 25cent bin at value village, bags of toys for a quarter was how we rolled poor... of course that means it was 25cent sweaters non stop during the 80s too.
Omfg i just remembered the feel of corduroy pants.
@@raynfir638 lmao, corduroy! Lol! I forgot about that, I had some too but in the 90's lol.
And no, i don't think our town had a value village. It was a small like 15k person town. Had a walmart, Kmart across the street, like 3x 99 cent stores and a couple restaurants, lol.

My mom used to make fun of me and call my action figures “dolls”, so I was in the exact same boat as you James i used to say “They’re not dolls, mom, they’re GUYS!”
The Thundershift 500 track! It was an oval track for Hot Wheels, etc, but the gimmick was that, as the cars came around to the starting line, you had to pull a shift lever that would propel the car faster along the track. You had to time it just right or you would get no speed boost, or worse, the car would hit the impeller and "explode" off the track. Freaking awesome.
That bay mobile thing just made my day guys. The first time I met my father was when I was 3 and him and my grandfather sat with me and built it and played with it. Thanks for the great stuff guys!!!
I was rather disappointed that y’all gave K’nex a “Don’t go there” rating. I had some very fond memories with those play sets, including how sore my fingers would get after playing with them for extended periods of time.
That depends on how poor u are😂🥺.
They always hut your fingers though thats the main drawback
Nah the erector sets were better. Actual nuts and bolts
I agree. It seemed like they were stuck on remembering this one car and forgot what K'nex was as a whole. I made a pretty sweet twin inline 16 race car once lol.
Not to mention, they were definitely still made like 10 years ago. I got 2 sets from about that long ago.
that car mat was bomb. from me having my whole collection out doing drag races, street races, drift, cops and robers.
I had one of those Tomy cars when I was a kid. I was amazed by it. When I played it in the dark it took on a whole new life- the lights and colors were more impactful.
This brings back a lot of good memories.

Yeah, I agree with the Tomy dashboard thing. I had one, so watching this was big time nostalgic. I used to sit behind the wheel of my dad's car and pretend to drive it, so this toy was just another version of that. The dials, controls, symbols, numbers, sensation of speed and handling was fascinating.
That rug was the real nostalgic thing for me. I grew up fairly poor & I always played with my cars on the carpet & pretended I had one. Never had any fancy hot wheels sets or anything. Just hot wheel cars my mom got me through McDonald's promotions when she was a manager there & also cheap ones at the thrift store that were like 5 for a dollar or something. I remember walking through the stores with my mom running errands & always stopping to look at one wishing we could buy one. Then one day my mom came home with one & to this day, that is the only time I've cried of happiness. I didn't even cry when I proposed.

What was the greatest toy as a kid. Definitely the red and yellow flinstone car we would pretend to drive around.
I was a kid in the 70's. Two of my favorite toys were "SSP Racers" they were cars with a wheel in the center with a gear you put a pull strip with teeth then pull the strip out and watch it go. They had really cool car designs. The other toy was the "EVEL KNIEVEL Stunt Cycle" They were a lot of fun, we built jumps and ramps for it, plus they were almost unbreakable.
I was a 70s kid too. My dad bought me a big o fat track with little battery recharge cars that thing rocked he used to get his friends come over and they would get drunk and race those cars for hours it was a great memory and this was a great video
I was a 90s kid and I remember both of these. ??
I'm 38 now and man did this bring back memories! I used to have the Tomy and the hot wheels stow and go. I believe the stow and go is actually still in the family
7:03 they really had to censor “cockroach” 🤦🏽♂️😂

Because yt rules are stupid af. Its not their fault.
I thought they just did it as a joke
They've done it for cockpit as well. Stupid AI driven rules
Damn i thought it was a joke, makes me laugh my ass off every time.
Legos man, I used to try and build cars that I saw on tv. I remember I made lambo doors for one, it was sick!
Oh man!!!!, They completely forgotten the famous Legos!!!!!! Man you took me back to my yellow F1 Lego car!!!
I made a lego lowrider
I didnt have any of these toys but legos were definitely my thing. I remember spending hours just building stuff, taking it apart, rebuilding, etc etc
Go back a decade and my fave was the Stomper Twist Track. Basically you laid a monorail all over your bedroom and these little self-propelled monster trucks with a guide on the bottom followed the flexible tube wherever. You were no longer limited to the standard Hot Wheels curves, so you could get really creative with your layout. Plus they drove themselves, it was awesome! My buddy's dad had a big model train layout in his basement and even he added a Twist Track in the center. Made it up to look like an off road rally, it was totally badass. Of course, we couldn't breathe on it much less touch it, lol.
Thank you. Tomy. I had one i loved when i was out of town as a child waiting or recovering from eye surgery. Ive been wondering what it was called for a long time now. I haven't seen one since the late 80's.

Honestly, I can’t believe you didn’t add MASK toys in the mix. The best toys I ever had
Same here. I recently looked up most of them, and now I want out of all the series Razorback, Wolfbeast, and Stinger. Those are my top 3. I seriously hope that now Hasbro has the rights that they relaunch or reboot the franchise.
Hahaha. A lot of people don’t know MASK but they were the dopest.

Mask was awesome stuff..way better than transformers..
Where were the original micro machines too? I know James did a commercial for the micro machines reboot
I was sure you'd have the Super Van City! I found all my Micro Machines the other day. They were really cool.
Yoooo the micro machines 😍😍
I heard they're making new Micro Machines, including the Super Van City
I found the old city van online, got my son the new city van; both for christmas. Got the aircraft carrier, dealership, shell station, the small red battery that has the different wheels... When I was younger everytime my dad came home from work he would bring me and my twin new hotwheels cars. Good times.
Let’s go 😤glad to see joe finally made it in an episode!
We where too poor to get any of those toys when I was growing up. 🥲
I remember that the first Christmas with toys was when my mom went to the food bank and they where giving out toys in gifts not just food.
It was a bootleg Gallantmon which I didn't recognize because we didn't have Disney only cartoonnetwork. :/
Being poor sucks.
I know the feeling. One year, all I wanted was the Mouse Trap game. I got it used. Half of the parts were missing. Another year, a church donated food and gifts to our family. I got a 3-pack of balls. A football, basketball and a soccer ball. They came underinflated and we didn't have a pump to fill them up. I couldn't throw a spiral, had to put muscle into my dribbling and, no matter haw hard you kicked that ball, it'd only go about 10 feet.
How long has Cartoon Network been around?
The best thing about being poor as a kid, you respect the things you have. You learn to work hard to get the things you didn't have as a child. As an adult you make sure your children never have to feel different because they have less things then other kids at school. And you have a value for the importance of love and family and have an understanding that things are just that "things". I have an iron clad work ethic now as an adult that was framed up while experiencing being poor as a child. I can look homeless people in the eyes, and yes I give them my change from time to time. I worked hard for it. I understand some of what they are going through, and I have compassion. Its less likely I would be this way if I didn't experience being poor growing up, and I look at it as a virtue. They can take away all the material things from me, but they can't take my spirit to earn it all back. Ask a man who was rich growing up to do that, not saying they aren't out there.
My favorite was the three tomica sets ( the forest mountain, the 5 story parking garage and the highway) and i had about 30+ tomica cars. It was so nostalgic i played that A TON when i was little. Good times.
In elementary school me and my friend would build knex dragsters and launch them from the top of the stairs to see who could build one that wouldn’t be destroyed on impact. Quality toy, we only ever broke a few of the pieces.

I find it kind of cool how donut always has something planned for every holiday
There was this tiny shop in the back of our small community park, ran by an old, tiny grey man. He sold very cheap plastic toy cars, trucks, vans, construction vehicles and basically anything on wheels. They had no brand name, no commercials and they came in small plastic bags. Yet the experience of going to that park with my family every weekend, buying some of those cheap toys and immediately unpacking and playing with them in the grass has remained with me vividly four decades later.
Treasure those small, simple memories of your childhood. In this mad world, they are the anchor for our sanity.
Joe and James together are so great!!!!
Merry Christmas Donut Media!
