When he says Get some rest pam you look tired!!! Goosebumps every time!!! One of the Best Action Trilogies!!!
Yep, and then that Moby intro comes in, iconic!
If you were in your office, we'd be having this conversation face to face...
Would've been better if it cut back to him and he was just sunbathing on a tropical beach giggling to himself.
Matt Damon joked that the last film of the trilogy would be called 'The Bourne Redundancy'. It didn't even turn out to be the last film!
Karl Urban was aiming for Bourne when he shot the girl in the car. remember he doesnt know that they switched seats. last he saw Bourne was driving.
yep
It’s great writing as a good idea that horrifically backfires.
Bourne had also told her to get her head down earlier. It's possible that he didn't see her and thought Jason was the only one in the car.
The professional assassin screwed up big time. He did not identify his target. He assumed it was Jason Bourne. He then reported to his superiors that Bourne was dead. The assassin did not see a body, that was mistake number four.
He really boned that job. Should have used Des and Troy.
Julia Stiles is amazing at playing "Pants-pissingly terrified". She does it in season 5 of Dexter also.
She made me _believe_ that she really thought she was about to die. Some credit has to go to the writing, but her performance was really excellent. Haven't seen too many other actors do that sort of situation that well.
Yeah, the scene with Neski's daughter at the end basically underlines that Bourne is fundamentally decent, despite everything he's done - he's hurt and being hunted and didn't need to go there but he understands the way something like that hangs over your entire life and wanted to spare her that pain (the music cue for that scene is called "Atonement" and it's one of my favourites from the series).
Now that I think about it, it even ties back to the FIRST movie!
There are a LOT of "tie backs" to how Borne does NOT wish to hurt CHILDREN.
When he saw the picture of the Neski family, he realized that he had just orphaned a little girl. (planting the seed of doubt & REGRET deep in his mind.)
Even if it is a "seed" he no longer consciously remembers.
Then later, he couldn't shoot Wombosi (in the 1st movie) because his KIDS were right there! Meaning, he would have to either TRAUMATIZE them (by making them witness their Father's murder) OR kill THEM as well, to prevent there being ANY witnesses'!
Not to mention when Borne "checked on" the sleeping children of the guy, whose house he was staying overnight in. (And watching over / playing with; them while they were playing on the swings!)
It's sad cause he was tricked and basically brainwashed into believing that he was protecting America by killing all those people. Which couldn't have been farther from the truth.
Them taking out Marie early was a great move by the writers. It sets the tone for the whole movie, shook things up early and makes you really root for him moving forward.
This trilogy is so well done. I'm glad you're enjoying them so much! Can't wait to see you watch Ultimatum!
I like the way the books run. Starting with this movie they veer away from the storylines in the books.
Addie, definitely watch all of the Bourne movies.
ALSO
For a great series that is kinda similar watch the The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series. Daniel Craig starred in a great remake of the first movie, but I recommend the original trilogy.
I've always thought that the Bourne trilogy paved the way for John Wick, but it never occurred to me that they even "killed the dog" 😂
The actress who plays Neski’s daughter does such a good acting job at the end. Her reaction was really believable
Old Mercedes are tanks. That taxi is the most believable part of the chase scene. 😂
Those Mercedes are the most reliable cars of all time. Used to go on road trips to Europe with them. Such faceful cars
I assume when you edited you got to appreciate your "He's had some training." Cracked me up.
The 2 scenes where he's on the phone with Pamela and says something to let her know he's watching sends a strong message that any of them could be dead any time if they cross him. That first time cracks me up because they're all in that random hotel room thinking they're on top of things and hunting Bourne and suddenly they realize that he's been watching them and could have taken them all out right there.
The funny thing for me in that scene is that if that were me, My first instinct when I realized he was watching me, would be to drop to the ground and hope he couldn't see me, not look out the window. I'm not military trained, they are, or at least spend enough time around them in hostile environments to know that too.
The "Marie" actress was in two German movies I enjoyed before these movies came out (only found out last week): Run Lola Run, and The Princess and the Warrior.
My favorite plot device for random movies.... 24:00
Horror Movie - perfectly good car in a driveway "why won't this car start?"
Action Movie - car has bullet holes in one of more sides, smashed into a wall, hit by one or more other cars, door falling off, bumper fell off 5 minutes ago.... still purring like a kitten, runs fine.
I loved Julia Stiles performance in this one. And Joan Allen was amazing. Karl Urban, best Mccoy.
Agree on all counts, especially Julia. The bathroom scene was just incredible! Side note: I love that both Matt Damon and Karl Urban were also both in Thor: Ragnarok.
The part with Nevsky's daughter is my favorite scene of the entire series. It's so understated and beautiful! Love love love.
Lilja 4-ever
Yep, Supremacy is definitely the best in the OG trilogy.
I genuinely think Supremacy is the greatest action film of all time
I Luv the Bourne series! Supremacy is my favorite of them all! Bourne always has the agency fooled! I hope you continue till the end of the series. You'll love it! Thanks for sharing Addie ❤️💛
The final Bourne movie goes deeper into his past and how he became Jason Bourne
The Final or the final in the trilogy?
@@graciefolden2359I think the last Bourne film in 2016
Apart from Karl Urban, there's also Marton Csokas (agent who's house blew up), who played Lord Celeborn, Galadriel's husband.
16:22 This movie is kinda crazy on a rewatch. Early on, they explain that this trade that went bad was about info on a leak from a traitorous member within the agency. Combine that with his aggressive pushback at every turn and it feels obvious in retrospect that he was involved and trying to cover his own ass.
I love Addie's little eye twitch "But it wasn't Bourne."
Give the Renner episode a look. It's a parallel story and, I think, lives up the this series.
Yes I really like that movie too.
Yeah, it's quite good. Maybe a bit over-the-top in some of the action, but the story was still pretty compelling and I liked most of the performances quite a bit.
Karl Urban is a ton of fun in RED.
And in one of my huge guilty pleasures, The Chronicles of Riddick. 😁
He is great in every movie he is in.
I keep the soundtrack to all 3 movies on repeat. The world building in the music is amazing
YES!!! Been waiting for this one since watching your first one reaction. :D
You're going to love the third one. Joan Allen (Pam) was also in a movie called Death Race with Jason Statham. (not to be confused with Death Race 2,000). Anyway, she plays a very different role in that one. She's very cruel and mean. Which just shows what a great actress she is. I don't think you'd like Death Race but feel free to watch it, however it has some gore to it so, fair warning.
Another good movie with the same type of guy on the run plot is, "The Fugitive" with Harrison Ford. The best movie adapted from a TV show.
US Marshals was also a great sequel.
Personally I highly recommend watching The Bourne Legacy, with Jeremy Renner after Ultimatum and before "Jason Bourne." It is slightly different from Matt Damon but still very worthwhile.
Also as some others have recommended, the Mission Impossible movies are a great action, spy mystery series if you like this genre! Would very much enjoy watching your reactions to those as well if you haven't seen them yet!
You’re not crazy, that is the best one. 3rd one takes a step back but it still really good.
The scene in the train station with the journalist in the third one is so good! Peak Bourne. I do love this one the most though.
It's the curse of 3s in a trilogy 😬
I love it! Don’t forget about the Bourne Legacy. You get more info about the program.
Why is Brian Cox such a damn good actor, in EVERYTHING he does!?
In the books, Bourne was married with children. The wife and his daughter died. His son was presumed dead. This was why he joined Treadstone. Marie also survived. She did die after the books of natural causes. The books get a little crazy.
In the first movie, when the two first get to Paris, Marie wonders if there's a family waiting for him.
The movies deviate so much from the books (I just read the three original Ludlum novels, so anything past those is unknown to me), that information from the books has limited impact. The only thing they took from the second book is that he loses Marie (though she doesn't die) and that someone is "framing" him for assassinations through impersonation. But the plot is completely different apart from those aspects (the story takes place in Asia, not Europe). The third movie is completely different from the third book and has no shared plot elements as far as I remember. Even the first book and the first movie only share the basic premise of an assassin who loses him memory and gets mistakenly hunted down by the CIA in common. The CIA is actually doing something positive in the books (hunting down a terrorist called Carlos The Jackal, loosely based on the terrorist of the same name), they just think Bourne has gone rogue. This probably worked best in 1980, when the novel was written and Carlos was still on the run. So I understand the change made for the first movie, also because the CIA's reputation for shady operations had become more widespread in the early 2000's.
@@YouHaventSeenMeRight there was a B.I. miniseries in the 80s, starring Richard Chamberlain, you can find it on yt.
@@zvimur I saw it when it came out. It does stick closer to the plot of the first book. It might be a tad slow for today's audiences.
This is my most favorite Bourne movie... have watched it many times. Well paced and exciting with great storyline.
I like the cat and mouse... I like when he's smart enough to stay out of the way... I felt so bad when he realized she's dead because he switched places in the car!
Imagine the surprise for us that read the books when Marie died...She didn't die in the books!
Franka Potente (Marie) starred in amazing movie called "Run, Lola, Run" prior to the Bourne movies. It's a hectic action movie that has a huge fan base. It is in German, but it is well translated in the captions. You should react to it!
10:12 He did it for the exact reason we saw. He baited them, allowing him to intercept the security officer’s phone and listen in on the CIA for a lead, while also getting a car and a gun.
"I had to close down everything. I had to close down my mind.
Too many things could cut me. Too much can make me blind.
I've seen so much in so many places. So many heartaches, so many faces.
So many dirty things. You couldn't even believe."
I really like the 4th Bourne movie starring Jeremy Renner & Rachel Weisz in "The Bourne Legacy".
Bourne Supremacy is the best of the Bourne films; a rare sequel that is better than the original
You should watch Red 1 & 2 sometime. They are fun action-comedy movies and rather underrated in my opinion. Starring Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, Mary-Louise Parker, Brian Cox.
Karl Urban is in the first one and is great. Morgan Freeman is in it too, and Richard Dreyfus plays a baddie who is immensely hateable.
The second one has Anthony Hopkins, Catherine Zeta Jones and Neal McDonough.
This trilogy (much like the John Wick movies) are cool in that you keep expecting the sequels to disappoint, but they just don't. I also just recently watched the (I believe) 4th movie titled only Jason Bourne, and that was worth a watch as well.
I dunno, I was pretty disappointed by John Wick 4.
haven’t seen Supremacy in a long time so this will be like a first time watch…thanks Addie! 😁
And I'm looking forward to seeing your reaction to the third Bourne movie. These are movies that are fun to watch someone else watch it for the first time.
Just in case you don't know, the third film is essentially part two of this film, so you might want to watch it while this one is fresh in your mind.
Each of these films brings something new to the table and introduces a new aspect of Bourne. This is one of those that for me, the first was good, the second better, and the third great. I can't wait for you to watch the next one!
9:15 sometimes its frustrating, sometimes confusing, sometimes absolutely terrifying. Bits do come back in nightmares, but mostly something triggers a memory like a sight, sound or smell.
Imagine something between a dream you cant quite remember and a thought that's on-the-tip-of-your-tongue. Combine that with vivid dreams/nightmares/night-terrors and it's almost impossible to tell if its real memory or not.
Like other PTSD symptoms it becomes impossibly exhausting.
"You are 36 hours behind the hardest target you have ever tracked."
I really prefer the cinematography on the first one. The shaky cam doesn't add anything to the film. Unfortunately the director changed.
Great reaction Addie! Definite case of the sequel being even better, although it's better just to look at the whole first trilogy of Identity, Supremacy, & Ultimatum as being a great trilogy. I liked the stand-alone Legacy with Jeremy Renner also, & the last Jason Bourne with Matt Damon as well. Happy watching!
Do NOT feel bad that you like this one better than the first. That is every film maker's and star's wish. The follow-up film does just as good or BETTER. When you see a SERIES, the goal is NOT to lose the audience before the series is even over. You want each step to go Higher and HIGHER until you've reached the end. Or Climax of the series. If the series is getting better and better, then the filmmakers are doing their jobs, and doing it WELL. Great Post. I can't wait until movie 3.
You’re gonna LOVE Ultimatum. It’s truly a masterclass
The third movie is just Bourne sitting on a recliner and watching CZcams videos. Nothing crazy happens in the third. It's very controversial.
as opposed to the martian where he is sitting on a recliner and _making_ youtube videos
Speaking of Spying, I recommend Mission Impossible series. It's totally worth it 👌.
#MissionImpossibleForAddieCounts
You should see Dredd. If you want to see Karl Urban frown 🤣
It's fun revisiting these films. Nice commentary too.
"I think I like number two better than one." I felt that way too when I saw it but now I love number three better than two. Can't wait to see it with you.
This one is my favorite of the main trilogy, also. The spycraft he uses is top notch and he spends the whole movie just dominating the entire CIA. That's not to say the third movie isn't great also.
One of the few movie trilogies(the first 3 in this case) where every movie is great.
booourne ultimatum nowww !!!!
My only complaint with the Bourne movies is that Julia Stiles didn't have a bigger part. Nicky is a really interesting character.
I've honestly always found Julia Stiles to be incredibly bland -- both on- _and_ off-screen. I wish someone like, say, Shiri Appleby or Thora Birch had played Nicky instead.
Gotta do the 3rd now
In the third film, "The Bourne Ultimatum", we find out more about Jason Bourne's past. It was the only Bourne film to win not one, but three academy awards in 2008. I love watching your reactions Addie, you are my favourite ❤( British spelling) reactor by far.
8:09 “Fun” Fact: Matt Damon actually broke this actor’s nose and really knocked him out by accident.
"I emptied it"
"it felt a little light"
-sounds like Liam Neeson took notes!
Addie, you've picked up on all the nuances of this movie much quicker than any other reactor. Good work!
Take solace: Jason and Marie have a long love story in the books! I assume the movie makers totally changed the story because they wanted nothing but action. I was shocked when I saw this too, because Marie was a main character in the books. I have to take the movies as their own thing.
Another thing your instincts are right about is the crazy camera shaking. When this movie came out, people noted that the camera movement was dialed up too much.
Keep up the great work!!!
I couldn't agree more with you Addie... 'The Supremacy' is somehow even better than the original (it's my fav of the 4)... YES 4! The trilogy (Identity - Supremacy - Ultimatum) come from the book series... BUT... the last movie 'Jason Bourne' (not the 4th, but the 5th and last one made) is DEFINITELY WORTHY of a continuation in this reaction series as a 'final chapter'. Please consider reacting to it!
I like the development of Bourne's character... it is so good.
And Pamala being... not so secretive and hostile. The next may be my fave though.
The 3rd one !!
Oh boy how much I waited for this
The massive plot hole in this is that Abbot wouldn’t have waited until the end to make the call. He’d have been on the phone the second Bourne showed up in Naples.
This is my favorite movie of the original Bourne trilogy.
Identity = 1st
Supremacy = 2nd
Ultimatum = 3rd
Same order as the first letter displays in the alphabet I, S, U.
(that’s how I keep them in order)
Addie, the danger that's Bourne gets bigger here with The Bourne Supremacy (2004). The camerawork also gets shakier, now that Paul Greengrass directs. Marie's death, at the beginning, was very heartbreaking. I agree with you here (in response to the title of this video), Bourne deserved a happier life, and better, but now has to keep running again. Just like with the previous movie, I also own this one on DVD in both Widescreen (2.39:1) & Full Screen (1.33:1) formats as well. See you soon for The Bourne Ultimatum (2007).
I’ve been waiting for this reaction!
Good one, Addie! This was a fun one to rewatch with you. Thanks! 🙂
"He has his eyes on you!"
I love sassy Addie.
30:31 Pam was a great new character, and she’s just as great next movie. A very welcome addition.
There are 2 more you need to watch.. The bourne ultimatum and Jason Bourne. I'll wait for it. :)
I wish I could forget these movies so I could experience watching them again for the first time. It's a great series.
You're saying you wish you had amnesia? 😂
@@Belhadelimited amnesia lol. Just forget a few movies so I can watch them again for the first time lol
Karl Urban was in a New Zealand tv show called Shortland Street in the 90's.
Imagine a Batman movie modeled after the Bourne films. He's the best there is at everything he does. He's always one step ahead of everyone else. He doesn't need to drive on rooftops to escape in a car chase. His fights are fast and decisive. Minor changes to the plotline and it would be a massive success!
it's called Batman Begins
@@seventhson2151 Batman Begins was a good movie, but the skill level they presented wasn't even close to Bourne... and the car chase was almost comical.
@@seventhson2151 Still my favorite of that trilogy.
In real life when Matt jumpped off the bridge onto the barge he messed up his leg pretty badly.
Julia Stiles brings such an interesting, if subdued, vibe to her role.
Sad to see Marie firdged in this movie but it is a great movie. The whole trilogy is great. I love the stalker stuff Jason does with Landy and always the Moby "Extreme Measures" end song tag. Bourne telling the Neski daughter was sad. Poor Danny, trusting the wrong people. Bourne Ultimatium coming up! The Bourne Identity actually got me to like Matt Damon at the time.
You feel the pain when he says. "I WAS 4000 MILES AWAY!!!!"
This one was my favorite of the first three, but the next one is quite good too and ends the story well. The fourth and fifth in the series, really nothing to write home about. The first three really were like the first three Star Wars films, the showstoppers, with a young Matt Damon at his prime.
I think the third one is my favorite. Looking forward to your reaction!
*Book Spoiler*
Actually in the books he did have a family that was killed in a bombing while he lived in Vietnam. Its what pushed him to become an operative because he had nothing left to lose.
Hi Addie !!!! If you enjoy this series of Movie you might really enjoy Bruce Willis in Red & Red 2. As always the like button 🔳 has been Illuminated 😊
I can’t remember if I commented on your Bourne Identity video.. but The Bourne Legacy with Jeremy Renner is worth a watch. It can after the third Bourne film with Matt Damon. And don’t forget Jason Bourne which is the 5th and final film that also stars Matt Damon😊
When Marie died, he learned the level of pain it brought him. So he learned about mental pain. To help himself an the daughter he went to Moscow.
Jeremy Renner rides his own Harley Davidson, so he knows how to ride. But Rachel Wiese co-stared never been on a motorcycle. So fear she shows on motorcycle chase is real fear. You need to check out this movie in series too! You'll like it! An it ties things together on why special group were treated medically? What they now can do physically and mentally! Motorcycle stunt, sliding down railing, an motorcycle to motorcycle transfer, has never been done before in movie?
The rest of them are just as good. Glad you liked this one and curious about the rest of them. Good reaction.
3rd movie is the BEST, IMO.
It’s a tough call, but I think this is my favourite of the Bourne movies.
Hello Addie!😊Yeah, I almost didn't recognize Karl Urban (Star Trek, The Boys) from 20 years ago. Another very well made Jason Bourne film! Great reactions to your second Bourne movie, Addie!!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I'm sad for you that you didn't think of his role as Éomer first, in The Lord of the Rings.
@@fakecubed Addie already mentioned that.
A good thriller action I think the trilogy gets better with each one. Have you seen the Final Destination movies?
you are in for a treat-my and the "experts" rankings from best to good: Bourne 3 then Bourne 2 then Bourne 1.
Brian Cox is always so scary lol
Have you seen Succession (HBO, 2018)? He's great in that.
a reaction to that would be cool
