The scariest thing is that this movie is 20yrs old. I was on vacation from the UK and saw it in an Ann Arbor cinema one rainy afternoon. I don't think I've ever heard a crowd go so nuts with laughter, often with a half a second of stunned silence first.
Never forget 😂
@@AmbiguousArtistI’m too high to remember
"I thought he was about to make an announcement to everyone about what Gary had to do to gain your trust." Addie's reaction two seconds later. 🤣That totally made my day.
It's like...Yeah...about that...
The P/D/A speech is one of the greatest things ever written.
Lmao
and so true...
“D” should’ve been swamped for the “Pr” rhyming word.
I, the junior Lance Corporal in my unit (MAG-24, 3rd Marines), was the Designated Driver for a rowdy group of young, buzzed Marines on the Premeire weekend for this movie outside Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. We were all "South Park" fans and I personally was a Trey Parker and Matt Stone Fanboy ("Cannibal: The Musical" and "Basketball")...so we were ALL already hyped. Believe you me, we were all CRACKING UP! The rest of the audience was going bananas too. A 300+ crowd audience was sitting through the entire end credits, just to hear the FULL VERSION of the "AMERICA: F*CK YEAH!" song. One of my favorite memories of being a Marine. 3 of my friends from that weekend later died in Iraq and on other missions. Movies like this are a time-capsule of GEN X and Early Millennial humor. Glad you liked it! Check out "Cannibal: The Musical" or the actual Trey Parker/Matt Stone musical Production: "The Book of Mormon" .

"THESE PUPPETS BLEED!!"
These puppets do way more than that. Addie is going to be a bit traumatized by the end of this movie.
I'm here for it.
Kudos to Addie for being a good sport and getting through this. Her reactions were priceless!
Fun fact, the director of photography for The Matrix, Bill Pope was sick of green screens after working on the first three Matrix films, he wanted to try something new. So he took the job of DP for Team America.
Wow that’s pretty incredible.
fun fact Originally, Matt Damon (who Trey Parker and Matt Stone have admitted is really a "pretty cool guy") was going to be portrayed as intelligent and articulate, but when they saw the puppet, they noted that it made him "look mentally challenged" and decided to portray him as such.
And both Matt and Trey loved the gag so much that they took turns voicing him.
And the best part? It cracked the real Matt Damon up! He loved it! 😂😂😂
@elijahvincent985
No, he didn't, he took it personally and was very offended over it, actually...I don't know where you got that from, cause Matt and Trey say the exact opposite, which they should know.
Hey
You should definitely do “South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut!”
And Beavis and Butthead Do America.
I wouldn't jump into it without having seen at least the first season of SP.
Orgazmo (1997) on the other hand is pretty good.
@@ramonacosta2647 Maybe I enjoyed it too much, but the sequel, Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe, is amazing too.
@@boretrk Orgazmo is great!. As an ex Mormon (as a kid), I always found that one extra funny.
@@DraustTrollbaneUS WTF, there was a sequel??? How did I not know this?
2:13 20 years on from seeing this in the theater, I can still remember the ROAR of laughter from the audience when those two puppets started “fighting” 😂
"why was that your first example?" im gonna laugh at that all day
Never thought I'd see the day Addie reacting to Team America. Now we need to start a petition for her to watch South Park 😂😅
When the movie was complete, they gave a screening to executives and other Paramount Studios people. In the first shot there was the cheap-looking puppet on a cardboard background. One of the executives jumped out of his seat and shouted, "Oh my GOD! They f__ked us!!!"
The speech about the three types of people is the most acceptable summation of humanity ever recorded. Socrates, Shakespeare and Sigmund Freud didn't understand humanity as well as this speech does.
When I saw the movie title, I couldn't click on it fast enough! 🤣
“These puppets bleed.” - That should be on the movie poster.
That's hilarious!
Or better yet, on a potential Addie t-shirt.
Masterpiece.
@@alextan1478 We need her shocked face too with the quote.
Not a photo picture, but just a black line relief of her shocked face.
That's not all they do...🤣
Not just puppets, these are Marionette Puppets. Marionettes are the most difficult to use and that's what really stands out in this film.
Housecats as panthers was okay ... if you look carefully at the enormous statue of Kim, it's a person and he blinks...
“I like you. You have balls. I like balls.”
Addie: “Mmhmm.” Your reaction to this movie was golden 😂
“Before the zookeepers could gas them all” is one of my favorite lines in movie history.
The adorable Addie: "I don't exactly know what I'm getting myself into with this one." 😅
Me: "Oh you poor, sweet, summer child."
i love all the little details in the costumes to indicate the actual size of the puppets, like actual us coins as belt buckles and such.
South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut is peak cinema. And it is probably quite accessible to newbies.
The 'heroic purging' sequence in this movie... nearly killed me. The heroic music, the copious vomit, the look on Gary's face. I couldn't breathe.
It’s also a musical, which is pretty cool.
edit: I mean, both movies are.
To this day, I cannot see Matt Damon in a movie without uttering the iconic "Matt Damon" from this film.
They got all their dolls in, and found Matts to look a bit off. Stone/Parker shrugged it off and worked it into their film, by making Damon a little "Special" 🤣
You should really watch South Park : Bigger, Longer and Uncut after this. Just be ready, whoever edits your videos is gonna have a lot of work ahead of them, to keep that video Monetization worthy.
Maaatt Daaaaaaamon.
She edits them herself, but her boyfriend, Jeremy, also helps and does the final edits.
I second South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut (1999). It's definitely gonna be one big laugh riot. #SouthParkBiggerLongerAndUncutForAddieCounts
Yessss lmao
What they/them/good man yerself said ⬆⬆⬆⬆
Supposedly they were worried about what Matt would think, and it turned out he was actually pretty angry.
Because they didn't ask him to voice himself. He says he would have.
23:37 the pure shock on her face. So far into the movie and still throwing curve balls on her 😂
And she already thought Cats was traumatizing enough...
"You have balls. I LIKE balls"😂
@BradSimsCPT
Durka durka, Muhammed jihad.
Ohhh, durka durka durka
I'm so glad you watched this one! It's really underrated and still funny today.
Whenever they go to a different country, notice that all the landmarks are right next to each other. It's meant a joke on how most Americans think about other countries.
"I never thought I'd see two puppets fight"... makes Punch and Judy sad.
To this day Carson's whole "Sorry, babe. Looks like this was a (cough) one way ticket." line is one of the funniest things I've ever heard. There's something about the way that was delivered that makes me laugh harder than anything else in the movie. It's like that pitch perfect level of cliche and cringe. If you've ever watched bad action movies from the 80s it's just too perfect.
I've heard that Matt and Trey got the idea for this movie after seeing the movie Pearl Harbor. They thought it was so bad, it would be funny to just re-enact the entire movies scene-for-scene with puppets. Then the idea evolved.
Oh, boy. Dear, sweet Addie is NOT ready for what's about to happen.
This was a gift from God!
Team America was inspired by a 60s British TV show called "Thunderbirds" ... which was an Action Adventure program made with puppets. The puppets used in Team America were designed to be an updated version of the Thunderbirds puppets.
The 60s show is actually really good but it doesn’t contain any of the South Park style humor of Team America.
@@dancolon47 meh, it's like 3rd order simulacra of the Thunderbirds, just like all of their other tired, broad parodies
It says a lot about how bad the 2004 live-action Thunderbirds film was that Gerry Anderson thought that this film was a more faithful adaptation of the series
When I was in college in 2002/3 the old cable channel TechTV played Thunderbirds every night, I watched it after my main shows ended.
@@josephwallace202 Wow...I just nicked myself on that Edge. Most impressive.
@@SilentBob731 do you even understand what I said?
Never thought I’d see the day Addie would watch Team America 😂😂
F*ck Yeah!!!
"Surprise [rooster][cigarettes]!"
Poor Addie was NOT ready for this movie
The Michael Moore puppet was filled with ham when it blew it. My favorite fact about the movie.
They tried to be true to life.
I think Addie is the real MVP of this reaction video. She just rolled with all of the South Park style humor. She also put a TON of time into the editing I'm sure 🤣
Addie: "Oh, so much blood!"
Me: *Deviously waits for the vomit scene.*
Addie the highlight for me was watching how uncomfortable the movie made you lol
They made Michael Moore like that because he made a cartoon that people thought was made by the Southpark guys and they didn't appreciate it.
Watching someone who isn't familiar with South Park is a gift. The fact that it's Addie is a gift from God!
21:09 The swelling of the music as Gary proves his loyalty makes the scene that much better! He is dedicated!
The unrated version of this movie takes the love scene between Gary and Lisa to a whole different level...kinda wish you had watched that version, but this was still a very fun reaction to see. Glad you enjoyed it!
The panther joke has always been my favorite part of this movie. Finally, somebody understands!!
The crappy mini puppet in the beginning was meant to troll the producers into thinking the whole movie was like that. Apparently, a Paramount executive shouted, "Oh my God, they f***ed us!" during one of the advanced screenings before the camera panned out.
Despite pleading from fans for a sequel, Matt and Trey have said there won't be one because of how difficult filming with the puppets was.
The reason Matt Damon only says his name is because of how the puppet turned out. Someone said it looked like a re***ded Matt Damon and they ran with it. Damon himself supposedly found it hilarious.
As for the other celebrities, the only one genuinely butthurt about the way he was portrayed was Sean Penn (no surprise). He sent Matt and Trey an angry letter, which they released to the public. Alec Baldwin and George Clooney were only upset that they weren't asked to voice themselves.
My ABSOLUTE favorite part of this movie is when the camera knocks Gary off his bike during the Pearl Harbor sucks song and they just kept it in 😂😝🤣
Thanks for the amazing reacts Addie!
"He's the best martial artist Detroit has to offer." 😂
Man is for sure a graduate of D.U.S.T.
Yay. Addy is wearing my favorite jumper
Yep. Even if it's hot in the summer. However, IMO, I think that she should've worn her plain red t-shirt. 🤔
Every time Addie says "I'm just thinking about how much I'll have to..." My brain autocompletes the sentence as "Bleach your Eyes?" :'D
Addie: "I didn't think I would ever see two puppets fight." (Me: Just wait. You're about to see two puppets do another "f" word. To my surprise, she didn't say she's never seen two puppets do the other "f" word, so maybe she has, lol. What has she been watching. 😅)
Alec Baldwin getting killed by bullets? That's ironic. He's usually the one doing the killing.
I saw this in theatres when it came out on a early sunday morning. While waiting for it to start i see a mom and dad with 3 young kids come in and sit down. I guess they thought it was a kids show lol. After a couple minutes they jumped up and threw the kids over their shoulder and sprinted out. Was amazing
This was so fun watching with you!🤣
"There's so much puppet violence in this"
Knowing what was coming... XD
This is one of those movies where you laugh more AFTER the movie is over because you're brain just can't keep up. Tropic Thunder is another.
🎶And they call it... puppet love!🎶
❤ Addie. Such a wholesome young woman who can appreciate really dumb, raunchy comedy ❤
They figured puppets taking themselves super seriously is extremely funny.
Also BASEketball is another masterpiece. Idk if you realize that Trey Parker and Matt Stone do all the voices to their characters and they write all the songs and perform them as well. They also wrote an entire musical. And south park is loaded with original songs as well. All Trey and Matt.
#BASEketballForAddieCounts
Calm down
BASED BASEketball take
And Orgazmo!
@@johndough3809definitely Orgazmo!! They didn't write Baseketball. But Orgazmo and Cannibal: The Musical get my vote!!!
Oh no Addie's pure soul watching Team America, this should be fun
8:00 The description you're looking for "he looks like he covered his face in glue and then fell into a pile of dog pubes".
Saw this the opening weekend, Crazy how loud it was in the theater. This one lady many rows in front of me had the best laugh! I can still hear it! Had to buy it on DVD to finally hear all the jokes. Unrated version is only about 5 seconds longer, Two extra scenes added to the puppet sex. My friend almost died of laughter when he saw them, so use caution.
Great reaction, Addie. The show that is being parodied, paid homage to, is a 60's TV series called 'Thunderbirds'. It was one of several made by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson that used marionettes as the characters, all with a sci-fi adventure theme. You can find many of the episodes of those shows on CZcams. Do not worry, the original shows are all geared for young and family audiences, unlike 'Team America'. 😆
Thunderbirds are go !!!!!! Thunderbird 2 was my fav!!!!
The title of the video is one of the truest things in the world!
I promise. I will never die.
“Are you ready for this Lisa”?
Are YOU ready for this Addie?
I never thought I'd see puppets fight lol. I was thinking man are you in for a surprise later 😂😂
The puppeteers could actually have done a good looking fight scene too, but Matt and Trey found the fight scene that we got MUCH more hilarious.
What gave them the idea to use puppets was an old TV show called "Thunderbirds", the puppets look almost identical.
FAB, Don.
Don't forget Addie, freedom costs $1.05
I think the songs are the best part of Team America. Trey and Matt are brilliant songwriters.
The Bigger, Longer, & Uncut soundtrack is an absolute Classic Album.
Trey is a brilliant songwriter. Matt didn't write any of the songs. He barely writes any of the episodes actually. Trey is the creative and Matt is more the business side of the partnership.
@@rustincohle2135
I love this movie for many reasons but my favorites are the fact that it's all practical effects so you know when something blows up it's the real thing. Second they wrote the script as a serious blockbuster action movie which made it 10 times funnier
@23:38 Addie your wide eyed open mouth shock here, looking away from the screen at the line he just dropped,
"Oh - myyy - god!..." lol funniest moment ever from you for me
Almost 20 yrs old and this movie nvr fails to make me laugh. Lol 🤣
The panthers are one of my favorite jokes. That and the giant statue of Kim Jong Il which is just a guy standing there.
Holy cow! I haven't laughed so hard since I watched this the first time! Addie you beautiful soul, your reaction was pure gold. I died at the first line from "Lease".
My morning alarm has been the Team America theme song for about 10 years now. I wake up every morning to 🎵AH-MEH-EH-RI-CA🎵
someone made a Australian version. I would say it might even be better
@@matsv201 awesome
Matt Stone and Trey Parker said they would never do another movie like this again. the amount of time and energy it took to get the takes usable was apparently a NIGHTMARE.
laughing as soon as I saw that she watched this... OMG!!
Seeing Addie blush…. 😊
Another great Matt & Trey movie is BASEketball.
Hi Addie. As a broad-minded Brit', I was curious as to how you could handle this movie. To me, you seem like (my idealised vision of,) a prim & proper, 'apple pie & ice cream', truly wholesome lady. I anticipated many moments of you avoiding the more raunchy/edgy scenes. But no! Kudos to you. It's a great appraisal of a very testing movie. 10/10. ; )
Poor Addie. Off to the therapist you go.
Yeah! 'Merica! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
When I was a kid I picked out this movie not knowing any better. More than a decade later, the theme song is the most invasive brainworm I've ever had. I always song along.
Addie watching _Team America: World Police_ ?! I can't quite comprehend the concept. 🤯
You do know Trey Parker and Matt Stone won 9 Tony Awards for the Book of Mormon. They know how to write a show tune. South Park is filled with original songs. And they were nominated for Best Song (Blame Canada) at the 1999 Oscars.
When I saw this in theaters, I have never laughed so hard before🤣🤣🤣🤣

One of the funniest movies ever. There are so many levels of jokes in this. It's simply brilliant in its social commentary.
Loved this reaction video. Your facial expressions were priceless and delightful. Loved your slight and wide eyes while the most outrageous things were going. So funny. Thank you!!
_Moscow on the Hudson_ would make an excellent 4th of July movie for next year. It stars Robin Williams, but he's not a cartoonish character in it.
Wow Addie you have moved up in my estimation. Takes a lot of guts to react to this movie. Well done!
George clooney really wanted to do his voice because he has worked with Matt and trey before, and Matt Damon considers this his favorite role. Some celebrities love south park and Matt and trey, but most dont
Matt Damon wasn’t in the movie - they didn’t even use his voice, just had a puppet that kinda looked like him.
Where did you see that he considered it has favorite role? I can’t find that anywhere.
From an interview: “The actor was asked recently in a Reddit AMA what he thought about his 'appearance' in the movie, and it seems he was a bit confused by it.
"I was always kind of bewildered by Team America, I think because it’s hard for us to understand what our images are in public, I think we’re not good judges of that, and when I saw myself on screen just only able to say my own name and not really that well, I kind of wondered “Wow, is that how people perceive me?"”
Best Super-Marrionette-Vision tribute movie ever made. FAB, Addie!
Given the sheer volume of episodes from SP and their other work there may be no greater socially relevant satirists at work today than Trey and Matt, and topshelf hysterical at that, they don't hold back on anyone and it is glorious.
Love that Addie kept the original intro in...she's both hilarious and adorable. This movie is the former, but even I wouldn't call it the latter.
Cheers and Happy Weekend to all Y'all. 🥃☮❤
Their musical The Book of Mormon was awarded nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.
When I saw the title of the video I was like "Oh my god!!!!"
You should watch the behind the scenes of this, the effort they had to go through to make this movie makes me appreciate and love this movie even more
Also my text tone on my phone is “Matt Damon” and the looks I get sometimes lol
Avert your eyes Addie!! You're to sweet and innocent for this movie.😮
So Addie watched this having NEVER SEEN SOUTH PARK?? Wow. Just. Wow.
Myaaattt Dayymunnn
Oh, Addie, you sweet, innocent girl, what have you done?? Pandora's Box has been opened now and you've taken a big step into a richer, more colorful world. I will add another vote for you watching the South Park film/musical. I don't think it's really required to watch the show other than you'll know more of what to expect in terms of the characters, but the South Park movie is legitimately one of the best movie musicals ever made because Trey Parker is a fantastic songwriter. Matt & Trey do not hold back criticizing and skewering almost any topic and/or person, and the episodes on Scientology and Mormonism are two perfect examples of that. In fact, they went on to write the Broadway/worldwide musical "The Book of Mormon" which has some of the most hilarious and amazing songs I've ever heard. And while the sex scene in this film is actually #3 on my 'Top Ten Favorite Puppet Sex Scenes' list (well, for marionettes, at least), it's still pretty amazing (just kidding, of course, and thank goodness you didn't watch the uncut version!). Perfect reaction to a really fun film.
The song “I’m Ronery” really hits, though
Part of the fun of watching your reactions is anticipating how you will react to specific scenes. You did not disappoint. Good to see you smiling throughout.
