When we signed Iwata we were told that he's a midfielder who can also play CB. Well I think we found out today that isn't true. He's good enough on the ball (as you'd expect from a midfielder) but any time he was tasked with doing a bit of actual defending (win a header, make a tackle, marking etc...) he was found badly wanting. So I think we can dispense with the notion that he's a CM who can also play CB. No he's not! He's a CM full stop!

That's 41.67% of the points dropped all season, and 1.76 more goals conceded per match in two league matches *without* him, than in the previous 34 *with* him. If I were his agent, I would be demanding an immediate, substantial wage rise. He is by far the most important player on the team. It's not even open for debate.

Iwata just isn't a natural centre back, in the same way Juraovic wasn't a natural right back....there was a moment, when he threaded the ball through for Hatate who played in Kyogo for the goal, when you could see Ange's vision with those 3 carving straight through 5 defenders.... I can see Iwata sitting in a triangle with McGregor behind Hatate in Europe. Ange is working it out...testing out who can do what and where...and giving Kobyashi just a bit of a slap and I wouldn't be surprised to see him given another chance, knowing now he needs to step up.

Our European efforts haven't been good enough for about 10 years or so. It's not like Ange's showed up and suddenly we've become rubbish in Europe. We also lost to domestic opponents during MON's time believe it or not. We lost our final two league matches of the season in 2000/01 season before securing the treble.
Hello Hamish yeah Complacency seems to be creeping in , disappointing again , that’s 5 goals we’ve shipped in two games , the team didn’t look interested, too many players off the pace waiting on the ball again, no one taking the game by the scruff of the neck and getting forward quick enough to Make things happen, cause Saints were bullying our defence and could’ve scored a few more , we were that bad ,should we’ve employed squad rotation at the start of last season , players like Benjamin Siegrist who hasnt featured should be getting game time , and the same for Bernabie , turnbull , kobayashi , Anthony Ralston, this is what happens when key players get injured, we expect these players that have hardly featured, to go out and hit the ground running, the difference is if the whole squad was getting a equal amount of game time , they would be sharper, instead being off the pace , some players have got to generate more work rate in these games, cause it causes negativity in the mindset for some players who looked tired , when the rhythm of play is effected and everything also falls apart, we were very slack at the back again, and Joe should’ve dealt with these two goals better, we’ve got a few more game to get it right before the final , we can’t go in the final with this substandard performance,,cause Caley thistle will be well up for this for game 🍀

Hart hasn't really been tested by qualify teams in the SPL, so he can play on autopilot. This will change in the Champions League.
