Thank you so much Kabir for checking out our Canadian Derby! 👏🏼
I really enjoyed this one, a fierce Derby indeed!
Like the greatest of rivalries, it transcends sport. It's historical, in this case dating to the colonial era. France and Britain competed, and in fact fought a war, for control of North America. Britain obviously won.
The Québecois have felt like a marginalized group ever since. There have been a number of independence referendums over the years.
Anglo Canadians (for which Toronto is the undisputed standard bearer), for their part, often feel that native French speaking Canadians are over-accommodated by the government and over-represented in the government. The general sentiment is: "We won, they lost. We are many, they are few. It's *their* job to adapt to *us* , not the other way around".
Throw a football derby (hockey is even more of a tinder box in Canada), and that's your recipe.
Great, as always, Kabir.
Just seeing Jozy Altidore grace the screen brings a smile to my face
He was awesome in the PL!
Thank you for checking this out. I love my Toronto FC and drive two hours just to get to their games. Toronto is a mad soccer city and this video helps show it.
If you ever do visit Canada (these areas specifically), I would recommend March! That way you’ll be able to catch a early season soccer match as well as a late season hockey game.
Silly fun fact: Montreal and Toronto swap colors for their hockey and soccer teams! Toronto FC and Montreal Canadiens are red while Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Impact are blue. Just a little thing that’s kinda funny to think about.
FC Dallas fan here. This playoff series is my favorite ever!
Thank you for reacting to the 401 derby. Nothing beats being at bmo field in toronto on those nights we beat Montreal.
Check out the California Clasico between San Jose and LA Galaxy! A rivalry where both clubs and fanbase hate each other! Another great rivalry in this league!
the video I was waiting for the most 🇨🇦 🥳🥳 ALLEZ MONTREAL
The oldest derby in MLS is D.C. United vs. NY Red Bulls/Metrostars. It's called the Atlantic Cup and started the year that the league started. 1996.
Yesssss, was waiting for this.
Karbir, Thanks for a great treat and history of both teams.
Thanks for posting this, Kabir! Sharing with my fellow TFC fans.
One thing to mention: The Montrealers tend to call our matches the Canadian Classique. Here in Toronto we tend to call it the 401 Derby. Highway 401 is the route which links both cities (on the Ontario side).
Our MLS rivalry really is something else. I know myself and many other TFC supporters barely even refer to them by their name. Instead, it’s usually along the lines of: “f**king Montreal…”
I swear, it’s like a Pavlovian response.
“Hey, you see the rest of the scores from yesterday? F**king Montreal came from a 2 goal deficit and beat Cincinnati 5-4.”
“F**king Montreal. Get your shit sorted out, Cincinnati.”
Or,
“Hey, you plan on any TFC road trips this season?”
“Maybe Chicago. Might do New England. And of course, f**cking Montreal.”
Lol. So true
Amazing you did this, I’ve just come across your page recently and was going to suggest this rivalry!
Great timing bro!
Speaking of Toronto, you should look up the history between Toronto and Seattle. In four years they played each other in the MLS cup final three times with Seattle winning two cups and Toronto winning one.
Also can't forget "The Save" from 2016 final that helped Seattle get their first cup.
Personally, I kinda dig the fact that Toronto and Seattle have a bit of a quasi-rivalry going on due to prior MLS Cup head-to-heads and nothing else. They’re all the way across the continent, we have very different cultures and attitudes, there just isn’t much of a rationale to have any animosity between the cities, but here we are.
Really love the MLS reactions. Can’t wait for the next one!
Thanks brother, more on the way :)
Thank you so much for making a whole video on what I recommended. Appreciate it a lot bro, thanks :)
Thanks for suggesting this bro, it was a fun one!
@@kabirconsiders No problem. Trust me, ive watched this so much times i cant count anymore. Love bro.
BTW, they played each other in the playoffs in 2020 in hockey.
Yo, Kabir, ur uploading so much content a day now I don’t even have a use for the schedule!
I decided to put music back in the mix!
5:26 And they finally met again for the most recent playoffs :)
Fun fact: Whenever those two teams met in the playoffs one of them went on to win the Cup. The Montreal team won and they made it to the finals as underdogs, but unfortunately they lost to the defending champs.
Great channel bro! I was born in Toronto but grew up in Ottawa and Montreal pretty much. They're all very close to each other and you'd love it! Winter can suck but also very beautiful. Check out the Rideau Canal / Winterlude in Ottawa.
You should react to DC United vs NY Red Bulls. The original MLS rivalry since '96.
I love all the people coming here to vouch for other rivalries.
5:05 Washington Nationals (MLB) was relocated from Montreal Expos. Vladimir Guerrero Sr. played there. His son plays for Toronto Blue Jays now.
More MLS!!! Great stuff man
More on the way bro :)
Great vidéo. Here in Montréal there is nothing that we like more than beating Toronto like when we won the Canadian Championship/Voyager Cup in Toronto on penalty.
Altidore played for Hull City and Sunderland. But he was at his best when he was playing for AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch league. He was averaging more than a goal every other game in the Dutch league. He never should've left IMO.
It’s funny you mentioned Drogba who played for Montreal. Another big name associated with the club is Thierry Henry who coached the Impact from 2019-2021.
Not gonna lie, I had a bit of an existential crisis seeing one of my favourite footballers coaching f**king Montreal.
City rivalries are the best. I’m biased on LA vs SF, with a lean on LA
Next do the Cali Classico Plz
You got a sub bro keep it up
Thanks bro :)
I can’t wait to see you react to a future video of Atlanta United vs Charlotte Fc, same owners of the cities respective nfl teams and Charlotte owner David Tepper called out Atlanta in the opening announcement of Charlotte fc.
Also do the El Super Clásico
Next you should do the Montreal Canadiens vs the Toronto Maple Leafs # go Montreal
Rivalries are so much better when the cities dislike each other.
Altidore is a beast, for those few minutes until his hamstrings give out.
Absolutely, it adds authenticity
Do the Rocky Mountain cup real salt lake vs Colorado rapids
Yeah, any sport with Toronto AND Montréal will have that rivalry.
-- Montréal Expos vs Toronto Blue Jays (MLB, before the Expos relocated to Washington)
-- Toronto Maple Leafs vs Montréal Canadiens (NHL)
-- Toronto Argonauts vs Montréal Alouettes (Canadian Football League (CFL) )
-- Etc
No bigger than other geographic rivals like the 2 New York City teams, Pittsburgh vs Philadelphia, Washington DC vs Baltimore, San Francisco vs Oakland, or any Cali team vs LA teams, etc, etc, etc.
Toronto and Montreal hate each other lol
The best derby in mls
The only subject that toronto and montreal are agree
Derby is one of those words we agree to disagree on how it is said
dur · bee
Der has a Dur sound, like in Derp
Everytime I see MLS derby it tricks me because I'm thinking it says MLB homerun derby.
If you like homeruns you might like reacting to the homerun derby. 😉👍⚾️⚾️⚾️
Hey Kabir, great videos. Just a suggestion. Please make the audio of the video your watching louder. I know we want to keep your levels higher to ensure that you cut through, but the disparity between the two makes it a little difficult.
Thanks Aaron, noted!
Man all these derbys the Cascadia Derby, El Trafico, Hudson River Derby, Hell is Real Derby, Canadian Classique are either between two cities or in state rivalries which is making me think that Orlando City SC and Inter Miami CF is a derby waiting to happen.
You should react to Orlando city NYCFC penalty shoot out. It’s bonkers! It happened in 2020 and sadly there was only 6,000 people there. But the moment was amazing
You should check out some college football/ nfl rivalries
I was in DC a couple weeks in a water front area of DC. I look up and there is The whole Tornoto FC team walking towards me. I could not help but ask if was really them guy just laugh smiled and nodded. I was just in Tornoto and missed the team by one night. So i just had to catch the game vs dc united that night. I already had plans to go to the national game (the baseball team) I was lucky and the two stadiums are very close together and right by the subway.
I had too right?
Got to add Montreal to the list
You should look at the USL
Red Bulls play Toronto tonight
Someones gotta make a updated cascadia derby for SEAvsPOR
If you ever come to Montreal I’ll take you to an MLS game. I have front row season tix and it would be my pleasure.
That would be awesome Peter :)
If you find yourself in Windsor, we have the best pizza! I'll show you around Detroit too if we're allowed!
Should’ve kept the impact
NLL fight video ?
montreal have since rebranded from the montreal impact to cf montreal, or club de foot montreal, which translates to montreal football club, just like toronto football club. this further feeds into the trend of useless mls rebrands in attempts to seem more european… the more you know
I told you about the rivalry
It’s a really cool one, good history behind it
Not one mention of the Vancouver White Caps with so much talk about who's the best in Canada 😂😂😂 the disrespect
hey we would love to have you at section 114 at bmo.
My man you are going to need a lot of time if you want to do coast to coast and enjoy it. You want a month at least. Its massive and expensive.
BUT COULD THEY PLAY IN A COLD RAINY NIGHT IN STOKE???
😂😂😂 It’s a valid question!
Since you loved the atmosphere in the Rivalry I thought I'd recommend this Copa90 video that has even more info on the history of the rivalry plus a much closer look at the atmosphere in both cities and stadiums during that epic Semi Final. Loved the reaction, and I hope you get a chance to check this one out whether you react to it or not. - czcams.com/video/bSxMW-uLcvM/video.html
Thanks for the link mate I’ll put it on my list!
🥳🥳👍
More NASCAR battles and the best burgers in each American state we will have back-to-back Road course races and we both know who's going to win those Chase Elliott is my pick to go back to back at Watkins Glen and the debut of the Indy road course.
All on the way bro :)
@@kabirconsiders YES YES YES YES YES YES CHASE IS MY ROAD COURSE KING DID LIKE COME ON YOU HAVE TO WEAR HENDRICK GEAR THEY'RE THE BEST TEAM IN NASCAR YOU HAVE TO YOU JUST HAVE TO JUST WEAR ANY HENDRICK BOYS
GEAR WELL WEATHER IT'S HAT SHIRT SHADES ANYTHING.
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙌🙌🙌
One day I’ll check out a MLS playoff game. Seattle Sounders is my favorite MLS team
Kabir do you have a favorite MLS team? If not, I reccomend Nashville SC.
And I recommend NOT choosing the Chicago Dumpster Fire
Not yet, was considering a NY team due to the city being closest to the U.K. but decided to keep my options open
@@kabirconsiders ah, as a US MLS fan thats a smart idea, almost all the teams have a special charm to them, whether good or bad is up to you, although I couldn’t point you to a team due to me being a Crystal Palace and Red Bulls Fan.
@@kabirconsiders just last saturday nashville beat chicago 5-1 and nashville's player hany mukhtar scored a hat trick in 16 minutes (mls record) and he did it within a 6 minute span
Tor vs Mtl is a hard one for people outside of those cities to get behind.
When it comes to TO (what people call Toronto) there is a strong dislike for the city because they think their shit doesn't stink and they are better than where ever you are from.
Montreal is different but the same, French people have been so anti-Canadian anti-English since the beginning of time and people have listened and learned what they have to say about the rest of us none Quebecers. People will tell you that Montreal is a beautiful city but the people are assholes.
If u visit Toronto hit me up I'm a season ticket holder and got a ticket for ya.
That would be awesome Phil :) I’d get you a couple beers in return after the game!
Kabir, this one might not draw enough views for you, but sending anyway in case you are interested
United World Wrestling does a weekly video called Big Move Mondays...check some of these out.
czcams.com/play/PLWfeskasuOjC50oLF6MHjGTaOvZ5pflP6.html
Called the canadian classic but has the American A Uk flags in the thumbnail…. the disrespect is huge 😂
USL is better.
What makes it better? I’m genuinely interested
Some good USL teams to check out are New Mexico United, Pheonix Rising, Sacramento FC and Las Vegas Lights
@@kabirconsiders I just think the passing is crisper along with the goal quality. I've seen to many MLS highlights with clear scoring opportunities that go straight to the goalkeeper or miss the net by 10ft.
@@cliffrusso1159 I second this.
It's not "Classique". I'm assuming some delusional Impact fan told you that. It's the 401 Derby.
