I basically knew everything he was talking about and I learned some new things like new Zealand being Australias Canada that was great, honesty it was just great for new Zealand to be recognized, we don't get mentioned in media a lot

The fact that Australia has a part in the constitution saying New Zealand can join anytime makes it feel like one of those friendships where one party very clearly has romantic feelings and the other just wants to stay friends, but the former remains hopeful that eventually the other will change their mind.
Australia is a "hopeless romantic" 🤣🤣🤣
and deep down NZ obviously feels the same way but is too indecisive because of Australias troubled past 😂 ... and all the other countries look at both of them like "Just kiss already 🙄"
So they’re like Mary and Bert. Or me and my first girlfriend.
New Zealand was actually a part of Australia, specifically the colony New South Wales, until 1841.
Think you’ll find that’s not entirely correct.
"queen's land"
It's name queen's town not queen's land. Queen's land is in Australia

Not many clicked on to that so much for research lol
Ah yes, we always remember our role in WW1 as the part we played in Samoa, and totally not the whole Galipolli campaign, which we have a national holiday for.
Noticed that too
Yep, I was waiting for a ANZAC mention
The one part they screwed up. Samoa? Really? Gallipoli is considered NZs birth as a nation as opposed to being a colony, besides that our men played major parts in the 2nd Battle of the Somme and Passchendaele as well.
Also the North Africa campaign in WW2 all the way through Italy and Greece aswell.
yea but i allways take these vids with a hint of salt they cant mention everything but they should've mentioned it somewhere as a holiday with date

I miss this place so much. I’m Korean but I spent 18 months of my formative years in Christchurch. It’s not long but there are a handful of lasting crystal clear memories that I cherish. Most of my earliest memories are from my time there.
I miss the blue skies, the Real minced meat pies (I later learned the rest of the world except Australia were calling dried fruit pies that. Disappointing as raisons in a cookie), animals everywhere, paua necklaces, the beach and the whales and seals, and just letting the wind move my body. It’s an idealised image through the eyes of a child, but still.
As a proud New Zealander and Tokelauan it was honestly good to see my little island paradise of Tokelau on this kind of platform big ups to you guys!
From a New Zealander, we really appreciate this video man, trust me, whenever we hear our country named anywhere we get all excited because we’re hardly ever mentioned 😂 And as a Maori half cast, I also want to say thank you for putting in the obvious effort to try and pronounce our words correctly, we really do appreciate that, and I apologise for the people who are giving you shit for your pronunciation, they don’t understand that you didn’t grow up with the language and that you’re only just now learning. O they butchered so much
Cut them some slack, as if you didn't see this coming. People outside of Oceania typically get this stuff intertwined lol like our flags for an example lmfao (nzer btw)
Personally as a New Zealander, I reckon you guys did better than most at not butchering our place names *for the most part*, a couple of things to point out would be that we call the North Island and South Island literally "The North Island" or "The South Island", also the big mountain chain of the North Island that goes from Wellington to Gisborne is called the Axial Ranges, Kaweka is one part of it. Imo there were probably a few cooler things to mention in the attractions like Coromandel or the longest place name from the start of the video, as well as all the comments I've seen about Taika Waititi. Overall great job of explaining our history and culture, one thing I noticed was missing was NZ's efforts in galipolli during WW1, which is kind of a big deal over here every ANZAC day.
