Interesting how Palpatine can't see the personal attachments i.e. Dooku to Qui-Gon, Anakin and Padme enough to know that it matters; that the Jedi also had a similar disregard, or apathy. I wonder if Dooku would've tipped off Qui-Gon if he knew Maul was sent to the conflict at Naboo?

Yes and no. Technically Bane taught Kaan the ritual and thus he was technically the creator of the Thought Bomb even though it was Kaan who made the force weapon.
