Wichita Falls Thunderbolt Siren Test

- This one of ten remaining Thunderbolts in Wichita Falls, Texas. This one will probably be replaced by next year. This siren sounds both Alert and Attack cycles. The background sirens are all Whelen 2810s sounding the Thunderbolt immitation tone. This siren was built in 1983.

I lived here in Witchita Falls almost since the beginning of my life. Those Thunderbolts did a good job warning the citizens dthe 1979 major tornado storm..
Edit: hmm, maybe these were placed after the storm, if I correctly remember

The WHELENs wind up and the Thunderbolt hears it. The Thunderbolt then fires up to show who's boss(the real Thunderbolt).

This siren was located near Alamo and Greenbriar Rd. by a church parking lot. I seriously doubt it is still there though. I think all of the WF Thunderbolts have been removed.
It has been replaced by a Whelen Vortex.
