    Hey guys - hope everyone is staying safe! I for one and going to sit back and replay this game about 4 more times!
    Some quick corrections -
    -Limbs can technically be severed still, but ONLY while the zombies are still walking around. Their arms/legs sometimes breakaway and instantly disappear now. Previously, you could break pieces of their body away all the time, and each limb had its own physics associated with it. This has been removed - likely to improve performance.
    -As someone pointed out - the "gridlike" appearance of shadows that I mention is called dithering and is used to help improve performance. Still doesn't change the fact that it's more noticable now in RE3 and there's still no option to bypass this with more powerful hardware
    -the palehead I showed was also used in an RE2 DLC, but there are new standard zombie models (maybe one or two - hard to tell)
    -One of the titles overlaps at some point in this video (5:57)... was afraid I'd miss one, the footage all looks identical so it's hard to catch

      @afibuffygirl Před 4 lety +3

      Some of the "new" zombie models are still pretty much the same, just a different hair color or just a different shirt. That is definitely 1 thing I do wish the different developer team would have done is given different models or just some but I guess it makes sense since they made the games at the same tim to use the same Assets and models. Assets are re used even from re7 which again, makes sense because re2r was in production already. Just a nitpick of mine but nothing game ruining.

      On par with Mister X on the remake Mr.X was scarier in the terms of being stalked...and tension. The footsteps. The goddamn music. He was like the Jason/Myers of RE. Which made him scary. As for the Nemesis...he's scarier in the terms of fight or flight reaction and the sheer thrill of adrenaline of the fright to run away. In short it's the stress reaction of fight or flight. Despite him being hellbent more relentless and aggressive. and much more dangerous. I liked him in the PSone game too....and I liked his design (1st form) only in the the Remake. If only they had kept him more humanoid albeit with the mutations. In the PsOne...Nemesis 2nd form was good. They kept his overall human shape with the mutations of more tentacles. So don't think its wise to put Nemesis cut loose and freeroaming the entire map where he could outrun us any moment because of his speed and his Tentacle, well my idea is if Capcom make a Nightmare difficulty where Nemesis has a Mr X pattern like RE2 then it will be give us a new pressure and gives a Nightmare difficulty a new *"meaning"*

      @anushkapandey8588 Před 4 lety +9

      @Robert Phillips now that you put it that way, I can only imagine being a building with Nemesis anywhere, stalking you. He'd just knock off the walls and get you. On the contrary mr. X chasing us throughout a city wouldn't even be nearly as terrifying as nemesis doing the same.

  • @michaelmannix1604
    @michaelmannix1604 Před 3 lety +266

    I feel like it's silly to say Nemesis's AI was a "downgrade" when clearly he wasn't supposed to play like Mr. X at all. I fully agree he should have been used more, especially in a larger map, but it wouldn't make sense for him to patrol from the ground. Unlike X, Nemesis's specialty is ambush. This is perfectly exemplified in how he constantly usurps Jill, dropping down walls, leaping in front of her, etc. I wouldn't trade those mechanics whatsoever, as they really set him apart as a relentless stalker, adapting immediately to the player's fight or flight depending on which direction the camera was facing. It's all those little tricks up his sleeve that put him a cut above X's comparatively simple patrol logic-lassoing Jill the moment she tries to run through a door, smashing her head against a brick wall, stunning her with a deep roar…
    What he needed was some sort of alert mechanic, like a noise meter. Make too much of a ruckus with your gun or explosives while clearing zombies, and he would eventually be drawn to your location. Maybe he'd even give a roar as warning, before dropping down and initiating a momentary patrol of the area similarly to X. That way, the player would at least feel the anxiety of not knowing whether they should engage zombies or leave them be so as not to attract the bipedal steam locomotive.
    After all, X was merely tasked with killing any and all witnesses inside or around the police station; Nemesis has to search an entire city just to find one target. He's not gonna waste time waltzing back and forth through the streets when he could simply listen out from the rooftops.

      @@ignaciocarda6004 I agree. It's a shame that first chase is so short, because Nemesis's combat abilities are super impressive if you stick around. In Re3 it takes a couple shots to turn a zombie into a crawler with the shotgun. While 3make is a very good game. RE2 remake is nearing perfection. The game has a perfect amalgamation of both the old and the new.
    It’s clunky movements mirrored the “tank” controls of the originals.
    While dodging can be fun and useful it eventually serves to break the game by allowing for hoarding of ammo early on in order to breeze through mid to late game with your stacks and stacks of rounds. This makes for an easy play through in almost every difficulty level. In comparison RE2 remake allows for the skipping of zombies but always at the cost of either ammunition or valuable sub weapons. And if those tactics were used by the player, the trade off was that the return to those areas were always increased In difficulty. For example, ignoring zombies and lickers in “RPD 1” meant you saved time and ammunition, but when you return for “RPD 2” you would be contending with not only all the enemies you left before but also a few more plus Mr. X. This made players think more tactically and plan routes during their play through, tacitly eliminating enemies in RPD 1 to make subsequent trips easier.
    Also, though I do like 3make very much and it’s really replayable. I found the aforementioned qualities of RE2 remake made it even more replayable. Trying to come up with strategies that reduced your play time as much as possible in order to unlock infinite ammo weapons while denying access to them if you where going for another S+ play through. The point system is far too forgiving in 3make. Plus higher tier ranks are not exclusive to people completing it without “new game +” items. Whereas in RE2 remake you were only allowed to use the upgraded knife. If any other “infinite ammo weapons” were used the player would be restricted to an “A” rank at best. I feel like this feature serves the game VERY well as most classic games are largely unforgiving.
    Finally, I wanted to mention how I felt about the pacing. As someone whose played roughly 300+ hours of re2 remake (story mode alone) its my opinion that it’s absolutely perfect. Though I’ve only played about 15 hours of 3make I can see it won’t be as good. The way RE2 plays out is perfect because of the trade off of between ammo conservation and subduing the hoards of enemies. What I mean to say is, if you’re on you first couple play throughs you will likely be slaying everything you encounter. This is very fun and rewarding. You will constantly looking for more ammo and weapon upgrades to assist in your war against the undead. This will add to the tension of the game. If you are on your 100th playthrough you know what enemies need to die and what upgrades you will be worth getting. And in order to save time you’ll become a minimalist by nature. This will add a different tension of racing a clock along with a shortage of ammo. Leaving you a game that’s worth playing the 100th time as much as the very first time. But that’s just my opinion. I encourage you to play both games at least 15 times. They’re both fantastic!

  • @xKrayZee
    @xKrayZee Před 4 lety +69

    I'm copying and pasting my reply from somebody else's comment. I'll even add further explanations.
    You can shoot them on the knees and they’ll fall down and start crawling just like in Resident Evil 2. I believe the lack of dismemberment with the knife is for gameplay purposes. It would probably be too easy if you can cut limbs off with a unbreakable knife you get from the beginning of the game. For Resident Evil 2, knives can break and you have to earn the unbreakable knife. With the knife, you can’t kill a licker to death so easily in Resident Evil 3 like you can in Resident Evil 2. Since there are way more zombies in Resident Evil 3, they would have to make them ‘less expensive’ and static. If there are physics for all of those zombies, it may cause frame rate drops. Not all computers can handle that many character models in a single area without it dropping frames.
    When I played on Xbox One, I do notice some frame rate drops that occur during gameplay for Resident Evil 2. If we rewind back to 2008 where Valve made Left 4 Dead, they made this explanation about the zombie's eyes pretty clear in developer commentary:
    "We wanted to express this rage in their faces as well, so we found efficient ways for each member of the horde to make intense facial expressions. We chose to make their eyes a solid milky white, partially because it looks creepy and disturbing, but also because it's much less expensive than drawing and controlling separate eyeballs for each Infected."
    Plus since there are a lot of zombies in Left 4 Dead, we see dead zombies vanish rather quickly in order to accommodate for respawning zombies.
    If you design maps for games such as Far Cry 5, you'll notice that destructible objects or those that animate are far more expensive than those that are simply static, basic and is indestructible.

    RE3 remake was not meant to live up everything in the original, I am enjoying the play through but wish they added more playable areas to increase the playing time. Take RE4, it was a single campaign but expansive. As far as Nemesis' scripted moments, he is the main and only boss in the game, him chasing the player every single time would become repetitive and annoying and destroy his value as the game's lone boss. RE2 had William Birkin as the main boss, which is why T-103 was used more in a sub role to stalk the character continuously.

In some points of the game, passages would be unblocked, or become blocked due to scripting. This is very undermining to the player and exploration potential of raccoon city. If the streets for more opened up, having Nemesis patrol around would've been brilliant. Just like Mr.X patrolled the RPD. Even though Nemesis is a good enemy to fight against, he's too scripted and it ruined. Coupled with the fact that the 1st form Nemesis is quickly gotten rid of.

    • @advmx3

      No, it is finished. There's not a single cutscene that looks "Hey this shoudn't look like this" or "Hey, this cutscene is missing sometihng".
      The game is in development for the same time as RE2R, it started a year after and relead a year after.
      It's just way too soon to release another remake using the same engine, so close to RE2R. Of course people would get angry. RE3 OG wasn't as good as RE2OG after all. Its just the same thing happening again.
      I myself love this game. It's fucking amazing and I'm glad I got it. And I'm a hardcore fan of the original.
      People just, expect too much and think too much of their IDEAL game, and forget that a game is made by real people, who get paid and work a lot sometimes even overtime to finish it.
      And I'm reading people saying the game should cost 20$? For the same time of development as RE2R? I don't think so.

      I knew this would happen, nobody listened before. But Code Veronica should be Resident evil 3, and not this standalone dlc that they called as a main game. ITS EXATCLY THE SAME GAME, SAME LOCATIONS AND SAME ENGINE AS WAS BEFORE IN 1998/1999. They should done as they did with Operation Raccon City, putting all the events in one game and it worked before. If u put RE2 and RE3 together, it coud be one game with 3 campaings to play for around of 15 hours to beat and another 15 hours to take 100%.

      Nick930 You can shoot them on the knees and they’ll fall down and start crawling just like in Resident Evil 2. I believe the lack of dismemberment with the knife is for gameplay purposes. It would probably be too easy if you can cut limbs off with a unbreakable knife you get from the beginning of the game. For Resident Evil 2, knives can break and you have to earn the unbreakable knife. You also can’t kill a licker to death so easily in Resident Evil 3 like you can in Resident Evil 2. Since there are way more zombies in Resident Evil 3, they would have to make them ‘less expensive’ and static. If there are still physics for all of those zombies, it may cause frame rate drops. Not all computers can handle that many character models in a single area without it dropping frames.

      @xKrayZee Před 4 lety +5

      @@deusvult7903 Read my other comment in this video I posted yesterday; I had to explain further. Also, you have to keep in mind that Nemesis causes massive collateral damage around the environment. You do not see the same amount of destruction in Resident Evil 2 caused by Mr. X or William Birkin. Static objects and structures that are indestructible doesn't have the same budget in the game engine when compared to the level of destruction in Resident Evil 3. On Xbox One, I noticed that Resident Evil 2's frames per second has been dropping. And you also have to keep in mind that there are more enemy types with their own set of unique animations.

As for the gore reduction thats kinda sad but at the same time the zombies are still creepy as hell with the sounds and models so less gore makes them a tad bit less creepy but gore was nice

    Despite all the negative review about this game, me personally think that RE3 remake is a great game. The original RE3 original i remembered when I was a kid, I played it in PS1, at a point i got so frustrated with this nemesis that I quit playing, I haven't really finish the game as it keep chasing the me without me really enjoying the game as well as those frustrated puzzle, not to mention the static camera really drives me insane. I enjoy playing first and third person camera such as resident evil Survivor, RE4&5 and etc as I can manually aim the zombie which part to shoot. Of course, different people have different taste. I am more on action type like Call of Duty, Battlefield. Which probably why I think this is a great game along with RE2 Remake.
