Model Y is $47,740 not $50,000 unless you are talking about the long range then it would be $50,490 and a comparable Hyundai I5 would be $52,735. Funny how you can get these little details wrong when rage hating.

I live in SoCal and used to work as a car sales broker. Generally, all car manufacturers offer different discounts and promotions on specific vehicles and trims each month. For example, you might be able to buy an Ioniq 5 at a $5,000 discount this month, but next month you could get a Sonata for $10,000 off.
That's why fleet managers at car dealerships send brokers new vehicle price lists with updated prices at the beginning of each month. As far as I remember, Honda is almost the only mainstream brand with limited promotions.
Anyway, I leased an Ioniq 5 for two years last month and purchased a Tesla Model 3 Performance Highland.
There were no benefits with the Tesla. (Interestingly, during the same period, they offered 15,000 miles or kilometers of free Supercharger credits in the UK.)
However, the Ioniq 5 SEL trim with a two-year lease came with a significant price discount and two years of free charging. (For three-year leases or purchases, I believe they offer three years of free charging, but the two-year lease had a substantial price discount.)
The discount and benefit policies for cars change very frequently.

I'd go with Hyundai. I don't really see a big difference between the two honestly - they are all minor and nit-picky. It boils down to Hyundai having a better UX (generally speaking) and a commitment AGAINST subscription fees for vehicle features. THAT SAID - I'd still wait for another generation or two before getting any new BEV. EDIT: BEVs are still just too expensive right now, incentives or not.

A model Y long range was recently $49,990 coming down to $42,490 after $7,500 tax credit.
Toyota dealers are marking up RAV4 primes above $50,000 and the hybrid Rav4 is close to the price of a Model Y after the credit.
With the electric vehicle, driving average miles per year, our fuel/electricity is about 20 dollars per month.

@@dvader3263 and you make my point - after rebate. That's still a big ask for many people, especially if you are leasing or are on a budget. I love the idea of EVs (and I want one), but at that price I can purchase 2 used ICE vehicles or one used ICE luxury car (used BEVs are overpriced in Canada IMHO). We need the EV equivalent of a Toyota Corolla, it hasn't happened yet. That said, I'm not saying buy ICE, buy what you can afford. Environmentally speaking, you'll have a bigger impact advocating for improved public transport than driving around in an EV by yourself surrounded by ICE and EVs stuck in traffic.

With the exception of the blind spot indicator, Alex's personal deal breakers are of little importance to me. But I agree concerning the blind spot indicator - it would be a trivial addition and I'm annoyed to be without it on my Model 3. The criticism of Tesla's range overestimation is valid, but to fail to mention the still shaky nature of the the non-Tesla charging system is a failure by by Alex. And the failure to mention that most of the NHTSA recalls were addressed by over-the-air updates is typical of Alex's anti-Tesla bias - and I say that while sharing Alex's dislike of Elon Musk.
