Thanks for the video. Since you know about automatic transmission, what happens if I tow a Ford Escape in Neutral for extended periods of time with the engine running in order to get the transmission fluid cooled down? Will it damage the transmission or not? Reason I ask is that this car had the transmission burnt because I towed it behind a motorhome in Neutral but engine off, stopping every two hours to start it so the transmission gets lubricated ; I just followed what the instructions said and the transmission was replaced and of course I don’t want to do the same but just leave the engine running this time. Other than fuel consumption and wear and tear of the engine, what else could happen?
I pull over and wait 5 minutes and the light goes off.And don't come on for a long time but it does come on occasusually why
I got a ford s-max 2010 which is the same as ford mondeo and I think I have an overheating issue with what i think to be the powershift gearbox even though it have a oil radiator for the gearbox. the car runs somewhat fine but small trips or long ones. the cooling fan is almost always running and sometimes even when driving.

Yeah I just subscribed to you. I have a 2014 Ford focus SE titanium and at 80,000 miles I had to have the transmission replaced it was $2500 here in Texas anyway I’ve only put 18,000 miles on my car since this happened in 2021… but it said what transmission overheat stop wait five minutes for it to cool down. I did that and while I was waiting, I googled and it said you know if you’re at a stoplight, put your car in neutral each time. And I was about 35 minutes from home. And I didn’t seem to have any problems. My car wasn’t skipping gears. so I know the fluid was all replaced and changed.
But I don’t know if I can check it to see if I need fluid . But I have my own parking area where I live and there are no heavy leaks of any fluids on the ground, but I did notice there were a very few small quarters size drops, but it wasn’t anything big deal. But it was dark when I arrived at home so when the sun comes up, I want to go out there and check to see what’s going on with my car.
Also, you can tell people that Ford has now a recall on our vehicles I know mine 2014 and I don’t remember how far it goes up or back in the years . But I am going to get my money reimbursed that was spent on my transmission going out. And now Ford has extended the transmission warranty to 150,000 miles. So you might tell your people about this information I know it’s in the state of Texas, and it was in some other states as well. And we won the lawsuit. Now is stating we are valued customers and they want to make good on this transmission issue… but tomorrow Sunday and Ford will be closed… but yes, it really did freak me out because I had never gotten a message like that before…

Im Pretty sure the 2014 ford focus SE is a sealed Transmission so you wont be able to check the transmission Fluid without jumping all these hoops and hurdles. Ford also put out the recall on the TCM, the Transmission, the clutch, the locks on the doors, and gas tank itself for the 2014 ford focus SE. but i think the transmission recall is for any of their cars from like 2012-2018 in the focus and Fiesta

@@davidscheulke4107there is no temp sensor for the transmission they used 3 speed sensors to compare speed input and output if they won't on range they display "overheating"
I hate not know much about cars. I have a 2016 Ford Focus. The first mechanic I called told me how much it would be to replace the transmission without mentioning other options it might be. The second mechanic did a diagnostic and quoted my $4,000 but how do I know it's not something as simple as checking fluid?
My 16 Focus SE 2.0 L with DPS6 transmission I’ve had some minor slippage but just suddenly got much worse one day. It didn’t overheat that day just forward gears it was major slippage not engaging. So finally had it scanned came out the code P0-702 -00 transmission electrical system. It did overheat several times got the flashing message on my dashboard the next day when I drive it to the dealership for needed part for my other car a 15 Fusion . So did a cheap hack in cleaning up the grounds under the air filter box and it worked great. I cleaned the paint off the frame . It was shifting like never before and was like a excellent manual driver was driving it. It was downshifting then engaging. No overheating that first time after I did that and drove around maybe 40-45 minutes I was really running it hard testing it. But last night the overheating message did come on my dashboard. Now will clean the main battery cable ground located in the driver side firewall. And maybe check the fluid. Somehow. It’s sealed so this mechanic said I can loosen it a lil on the drain plug.

@@anasdafrane6454 now at present, it’s better than before but still got some slippage. Next I think I’ll replace clutch actuators. I found them two of them for $83 dollars
Mine completely stopped driving lol
Mine only overheats after 20+ minutes of sustained highway speeds. It never did this until the shop replaced my TCM.

@hoodie8551 nope they swapped for another TCM and it still overheats now.

@@bhantambo9822 They replaced the TCM again under warranty and the overheat problem still exists. I sunk $1300 into it and have given up. At this point I'm selling it hoping to just get back the cost of the last few months of attempted repairs. It's not worth putting more money into it.
2012-2018 focuses do not have any lines that are connected to the radiator
Mine only started overheating when I used the cruise control.
Someone told me these transmissions are mostly electronic
And the grounds on the focus have paint on them
He said remove your battery and battery tray there's a couple ground points there and there's one on the shock tower
Remove the bolts sand every point and where the washer on the bolt meats the metal and add dialectic grease
That's pretty easy and cheap so I'm gonna try that first

I have a 2013 Ford Focus SE Hatchback with 178k miles. For months transmission has been slipping & it's worst now. Plus over heated. How do I check the fluid?
To check the fluid on the dps6, you'll have to look in through the drivers side wheel well. There's will be an Allen key bolt next to the halfshaft. The only way you can really "check" is by removing that plug. Once removed, a small amount of gear oil should drain out. If not, then you're low. (NOTE!!!) The focus does NOT take automatic transmission fluid. It takes a specialty ford gear oil (xt-11) ONLY!

@@lamar9525 From what you are saying in your comment though, it seems as if you're Clutch is starting to wear out. Which is normal and common on the focus. Just unfortunately if you're getting it done with oem ford parts and getting it done by Ford, its expensive... sorry for the bad news.
@Race330 Sad but true. Dealership is wanting $4700 to rebuild the dps6. Now I'm wanting however much I can get when I get rid of it. I've even checked with transmission shops. Two wouldn't touch it & the other would get a used transmission replace the clutches for $3600, smh.
@@lamar9525 Good news with that someone will buy the focus. They're a great mechanics car, but other then that i dont recommend it. I personally bought one with a worn clutch 6 months ago, replaced it myself using parts geek totalling out to 700 bucks. But unfortunately is not an easy process, and I do work at a Ford dealership as well. Gifted it to my girlfriend and she loves it. If you're near the new jersey area I'd be interested in it haha

@DanielSanchez72094 could be electric grind down the grounds where the batter negative connects sometimes it acts up electrical amd the computer. Then. On the tyranny there's another ground w a bolt on clean it up... it helps bit I ended up trade in at dealer cuz if it was the tyranny after all it would of been 7k
This does not apply to the 2012-18 Ford focus. They do not have cooler lines and they don't have a filter to replace.
An automatic transmission will have cooler lines going to the radiator or a transmission cooler mounted in front of the radiator. A manual transmission will not have a cooler.
My car is doing this and I just put a transmission in my car last year and keeps telling me right now my transmission is overheating and I was thinking the fluid

Got a 2012 Ford Focus that gives me this message twice in heavy traffic, and going up a hill. It also makes a weird boiling noise when the car is going up a hill, it goes away when it goes straight on a regular road.
I it’s happening to me to in heavy traffic and going up a hill but i I advise you to put it in neutral if there is traffic and it does not move every minute. This, from experience, gives it a greater opportunity to cool down. Strangely enough, this does not happen when I am on a flat road. I mean, the message “others’ temperature” does not appear even when there is massive traffic.
@@ameerj3152 So I got it checked and looks like the transmission fluid has gotten really bad and it's black. I need to find a good place that can rebuild the transmission, cuz changing the fluid is not a good idea at this level. It will make things worse. Every 30,000 miles the transmission fluid needs to be changed on 2012 Ford Focus and this is my wife's car and she bought it a year ago.
Use the scan tool to pull codes of what need to be eliminated first i think would be the best idea instead of hypothesis 😂
