Before writing and publishing any binocular review, I thoroughly research, test, and use the instrument in my office as well as out in the field. I also conduct comprehensive comparisons between the binocular under review with a number of benchmark binoculars in both good and bad light conditions.

Yes these unboxing videos are really good for those who are thinking of buying the products that you are unboxing. It does give the viewer a little more of an ideal of what the product is all about other than what the pictures are like on line, keep doing it I'm very much in favor of it!👍

Wow .. ok, so far I have had an almost 100% positive response to this video which to be honest I was not really expecting as it was completely unscripted and thus I do a lot of umming and aahing! Anyway please continue to let me know if you like this type of unboxing / first reactions video - but for the moment I will continue making them - For me, it is actually quite nice as they are fairly easy/quick to make (From start to publishing this took me a day whereas most of my videos take 2 - 3 days to produce) and I do feel that apart from a quick preview of the binocular, it is also a nice way for me to show you what reviews you can look forward to on BBR.

Jason very good review of the unboxing. Yes a few now and then of a unboxing video would be good. You put the hat on and if I win that hat I can say that I won it from the best , honest review person on you tube for binoculars by far. Yes, it seems higher magnifications are all the rage at the moment - even Swarovski has added a 12x42 to their lineup: www.bestbinocularsreviews.com/blog/swarovski-nl-pure-binoculars-review-of-main-features-07/ - For me, it is most often not good thing as there are many downsides to higher powers - but in the right situation it is great to get the extra reach & image detail. I tried a pair of vortex diamondback HD 8x42 and I must admit for the price they’re great. I won’t be using them over my zeiss conquest HD, but they will be left in the truck for scouting when my zeiss are not on hand.

Are the Vortex Diamondback HD binoculars IPX7 waterproof rated?
Hi, I have just gone over my review to check www.bestbinocularsreviews.com/Vortex-Diamondback-HD-15x56-Binoculars-Review-270.htm - As you can see they are fully sealed and described as waterproof, but I could not find any mention as to a recognized industry standard, so not sure. I guess you could ask Vortex, I have found their customer service department to be pretty good at responding. Let me know if you find out and I will update my review.

@@Bestbinocularsreviews I contacted Vortex's customer service and was told that the Diamondback binoculars are IPX7 waterproof rated. Don't understand why they would not include this in their advertising though. Just bought a pair of the 10x42mm Diamondbacks!

@@Bestbinocularsreviews I will be taking them fishing with me today at Ponce Inlet in Florida. I also got an email from a Wyatt Cole with Vortex's sales and technical department and he also verified that the Diamondbacks are waterproof to IPX7 standards.
Way nicer than the case that came with my Nikon's.
Hi Matt, yes I have found that with many/most of the camera companies that also make binoculars - I think in the camera industry it is normal to not get a case with the camera as it is strangely expected that you will go out and get your own, so I think they find it hard to accept that they need to give one away and as such they don't spend much on them!
Great timing. After a bit of research I’m decided on Vortex for sure but wasn’t sure if the Viper HD was worth the price increase compared to the Diamondback
Viper HD are like looking through into 3D viewing. The Subject has a superb clean out line! I have the 10x42 Viper HD!
Absolute fan of vortex. Still thought your review was honest and objective. Should do some more product unboxing videos. I'm loosing hair and my buddies say I should get a cap so that they can see where my forehead starts.

I was under the impression that a 7mm pupil matches the human eye, What is the purpose of going larger, 8, 10, 12 and now 15 mm? #Vortex Binoculars
Hi Paul - Yo are right in that in low light, the maximum dilation that your pupils can reach is about 7mm. However the 15 in the 15x56 configuration refers to the magnification of the binocular not the exit pupil. For more see my video and article on What the binocular numbers mean: www.bestbinocularsreviews.com/blog/binocular-numbers-mean-12/ - The exit pupil size of a binocular can be calculated by dividing the objective lens diameter by the magnification. But 15x? that mean Astronomy and open landscape, african safari, Siberia or coast observation only whit tripod during a day.
x56 mean heavy category. A lots of glass and metal, but also a lots of light gathering.
Definitly not allrounder or B.O.B. binos, i like it anyway because it’s special.
Yes exactly - different binocular configurations will have their strenghts and weaknesses and will thus be better suited for different uses etc.

I have two of the Bushnell Legend L-Series binoculars and for the money they are pretty darn good! The M-Series are even better! Although I think they are discontinued but some dealers still have some in stock.

Hi Paresh, thanks for the kind words. Being able to keep the view still and shake free varies from person to person and depends on the position I am in, how large/heavy the binoculars are and how long I am using the binocular for. So for example standing up, I am a little less stable than sitting down and if I am able to rest my elbows onto a table top or something, even better. But yes, I can certainly use these 15x binoculars from the hands for short periods.. indeed I could also use the 18x Maven B5 18x56 Binoculars www.bestbinocularsreviews.com/Maven-B5-18x56-Binoculars-Review-263.htm from the hands, but the image is by no means as stable as when I am looking through an 8x binocular. So ideally you would use them with a tripod/monopod (which may be a good idea for travel).
Personally, from the hands, the maximum I would choose would be a 12x , so something like the Athlon 12x50 Midas www.bestbinocularsreviews.com/AthlonMidas12x50BinocularsReview-247.htm could be a good option, or for travel you may want something a little more compact, so something like the Steiner Wildlife Pro 12x30 www.bestbinocularsreviews.com/Steiner12x30WildlifePro-13.htm but this will mean they are not good in low light.

Hi, the focusing issues are certainly user error and not the fault of the camera - I just need to get my head around all the settings - that is one thing I like about binoculars - nice and easy to use! I too really like the look of most of the Badlands harnesses www.bestbinocularsreviews.com/blog/kuiu-vs-badlands-bino-harness-12/ - however for how I generally use my binoculars, they don't need so much protection, so I often use a far lighter setup. I like that you have quality over quantity in your reviews that you actual test the bins before you write about them, i have a pair of vortex vipers 8x42 which i found to be very good value for money #VortexBinoculars i would like to see you test out some spotting scope if its possible that would be interesting like the Athlon scopes would be interesting to see a review on in the future

Hi Jason, I like your profound style of unboxing video and I am looking forward to seeing more of them. One thing that has occurred to me more than once while doing research for my personal best binocular: Some companies seem to brand and advertise basically the same binoculars made in China under different brand names. For example, the Barr and Stroud Sierra looks very similar to the Celestron Nature DX. Same for the Meade Rainforest Pro and the Carson VP. I would really appreciate a video from you regarding this phenomenon. I am sure you have quite something to say about this. #VortexBinoculars
Hi, I am not 100% sure about the case you mention, but yes this is for sure the case with many lower costing instruments, they will all have the same design and just be re-branded. Not this is not just the case with binoculars as we see it in many other areas .. from washing machines to televisions.. it is just how the world is at the moment. Ok, I understand now, but DO Not look at the sun with any binoculars that are not specifically designed for it. I have heard of ruby coatings - these are usually on very cheap binoculars and NOT designed to look at the sun, you will damage your eyes. Hi mate , sold now the vortex and got Steiner Ranger extreme 8x56 which is still a mid level but what a mid level picture !!! Ohh , this is top !! A German Smith / pecan glass not made in other countries, the very top quality 4k or 8k view details , etc .the box it's simple ,doesn't need any advertise or highlits.
And it's really 1/2 more of the price of the cheap glass of vortex !!?? It's definitely worth everything
Cheap binos , vortex 15 x56 diamond back are cheap. Lots of distortion and chromatic aberration, only 1 plus , the magnification

Hi mate , trust me , everything you will get highlighted on the outside box , warranty, all stamps and features is just to make you buying the product , lots of extras like harness, and all shiny box with features. I just sold them and add another few hundred bucks and bought the Steiner Ranger Extreme 8x56 and the box it's coming simple and no need for advertise at all. Guess what .. those binos don't need any advertise or proof of capability. They are stunning 😍!!!! Absolutely stunning. The view it's like 8k ultra cinema view , the touch , the materials involved , etc . The glass it's genuine German glass not made on overseas country Smith Pecan glass , actually you gonna see things better than your eye vision capability. This is a budget .. for people which can afford top brands and its performing exactly as 3 times the price mate
