- Grammy Award-winning singer Tori Kelly was hospitalized with blood clots over the weekend, ABC confirmed Tuesday.
The singer was taken to the hospital Sunday night after collapsing while out with friends and is being treated at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles. She has reportedly been diagnosed with clots in her legs, also known as deep vein thrombosis, or DVT, and clots in the veins of her lungs called pulmonary emboli, or PE, according to TMZ, which was the first to report the news.
Now, doctors are raising awareness of this life-threatening condition, saying even young people need to be aware of the signs and symptoms.

That happened to me in November 2021. I was taking long drives (350 miles each way) for several weeks in October-November and not getting out of the car too often. In early November, I woke up at the hotel one day with left calf pain. Didn't think anything of it other than a muscle strain. It lasted 2 weeks. 2 weeks later, I experienced shortness of breath and tachycardia, doctors (5 of them) said it was my asthma and was treating me with prednisone, Trelegy and albuterol. Nothing worked and had this worsen for 5 weeks! My wife took me to the ER in December 2021, found out I had a DVT from the back of my left knee to my groin and extensive bilaterial PE's with right heart strain. Placed into the ICU for 2 days with heparin, then 1 day in a normal room on Eliquis...then discharged and went to a hematologist. Found out that I have what my father has...Factor II (prothrombin) mutation, and on Eliquis for life. My dad had the same fate in 2006, and has been on Warfarin since then and hasn't re-clotted. My 15 year old son has the same mutation. So, this is a serious emergency, but unfortunately, many doctors aren't well trained to properly diagnose this. Of the 5 I saw before the ER, I saw two allergists, internist, pulmonologist and cardiologist. I hope she recovers w/o any serious long-term effects. Thank God I made a full recovery in 3 months and back to the same fitness level I was at prior to the clots.

I was delirious with fever of 104° for 5 days straight. I was totally alone entire time. After 10 days of bedridden and feeling like death, I saw my legs and arms were suddenly quite swollen and bruises on legs. Veins were bulging from my arms. I knew nothing about blood clots, but I knew I was in trouble. Finally called for ambulance. Like you, Heprin for 2 days and the Eliquis for 7 months. No sign of clots since Delta Variant kicked my arse.
Wow! Poor thing - I pray she survives this.
And I hope she'll be the same way she was 🙏🏽

I was a perfectly healthy person until I acquired Delta Variant COVID in summer 2021. Was admitted to the hospital bc of bilateral pulmonary embolism + 9 total blood clots in my legs. Luckily, the IV Heprin and antibiotics helped, though I was on blood thinners for 7 months after to ensure no complications. So grateful 🙏 to have survived 🙌.

@@thesuperioraffection4502 the linkage between COVID-19 and blood clotting was made definitively long before the vaccines were available. Emerging data shows a strong correlation between waves of variants and increases in strokes and heart attacks. But sure, let's just ignore all of that and pretend the vaccines are to blame.
I'm all for doing your own research, but maybe stop tossing out everything that is inconvenient to your chosen narrative.

Talk to your PCP before you start taking daily aspirin. Your Doctor will know if it is right for you. My advice, eat better (no fad keto, carnivore BS, eat a balanced diet) and exercise for starters.
when i thought I had vasculitis . I was taking aspirin. I was diagnosed with blood clots in Camarillo,then I went to to cedars Sinai and they said I didn't. so you cant trust any one doctor or vascular surgeon. I ended up seeing 4. conclusion , see multiple drs and go with the majority recommendation

Epidemiologist here whose dissertation was on Factor VIII. It is worth noting that incredibly high burden of thromboembolism, way beyond breast cancer in women, for instance. Thrombosis is probably a penultimate event in many disease of the heart (number one killer in 2015 according to the CDC) and in stroke. Further, metastasis is a risk factor for thrombosis.

I did something interesting the other day . I went back in looked at the comment sections of people who died where the cause was not known at the time of death , like DMX and it’s all the same exact comments … vaccine blah blah blah . I’ve known so many people who have had blood clots pre-pandemic that i couldn’t even list then all . Firstly we don’t know her vaccination status , her medical history, what medications or drugs she taken , activity level or anything .
