I loved A Love Song For Ricki Wilde but I say this as a fan of historical fiction and magical realism. I knew as I was reading it that it wouldn't be for everyone!
That totally makes sense! I wasn’t for me, but I can definitely see how other people would love it if they enjoy magical realism and historical fiction! It’s the perfect combination in this book!!
I agree! I love historical fiction, but normally don't read books with magical realism. However, I did enjoy A Love Song For Ricki Wilde for what it was. It took me down the rabbit hole to do more research about the era.
I just started People We Meet on Vacation and it’s my first Emily Henry book. So far so good! A Love Song for Ricki Wilde was a 5 star for me, but I can understand why it wasn’t for you!
So glad you loved it!! I know so many people that did!!
Hey Shawnaci girl. First off, your videos are a much needed stress reliever and sometimes I just run them in the background for a happy atmosphere. I loved A Love Song for Ricki Wilde! It was an experience on audible.
So glad you loved it and love these videos!! I hope this is always a calming space 🥰🥰
It’s okay to like what you like. I don’t read straight romance I like books that have romance sprinkled in it but it’s not the main plot.
You’re so right! It’s fun trying new things my I love coming back to my roots of what I really love haha!
@@ShawnaciSchroeder I do try to branch out but a lot of the time I just be disappointed.
Im giving Luca and before I let go a shot and see if I like them because of you and Alex. Hopefully I’ll like them. I downloaded before I let go on KU because Kennedy Ryan posted a video on TikTok saying it’s on KU for a limited time.
Enjoy!! 🥰🥰
Loved this video. And yes sadly we can’t love every book, but that’s the joys of reading. Every time I see you outside reading I tell myself I’m going to start doing this because it looks so relaxing and still I haven’t done it. Maybe that should be my goal for May 😃
You should!! Reading outside is so fun!
Definitely find time to do it. It’s very therapeutic ❤
African wash rags are great as loofah replacements! They don't hold bacteria, dry quickly, and also exfoliate like loofahs.
I loved a Love Song for Ricki Wilde! I do love magical realism and black history though.
That makes sense! So glad you loved it!
I usually rate books on how much I enjoy them. I will make an exception for books that aren't my taste, but do a good job of capturing the author's vision. I didn't care for "Luca". But, I gave it a good rating, because for what it was "an uber alpha male helping an abused woman find love again" it was good. I loved, loved Ricki Wilde. Beautifully written. I appreciate that you say the things that you don't like, instead of "This sucks, hated it".
You’re welcome! I truly think that there is a book for everyone and the beauty of reading is that we all have different book tastes!
I was on the fence about reading A Love Song for Ricki Wilde but since you said it’s almost like historical fiction/magical realism, I’m sold! Lol sorry it didn’t work out for you, but also thank you for your review because now I’m excited to read it 😁
You’re welcome!! Just because it wasn’t for me doesn’t me it won’t be for someone else who loves all that she added in the book! The writing is incredible so I’m sure you’ll love it!
I saw Ricki Wilde in the romance section at the library and I’ve only read one magical realism book ever and I didn’t finish it BUT I’m a native New Yorker so Ricki Wilde sounds kinda lovely to me 😩😍
I bet you’ll love it if you’re native to NYC! She did sooo much historical research for the book which would be great for someone that loves learning about it!
I do love reading outside when it's not super buggy...but there's only like 2 months in the summer here in New Hampshire where there are no bugs at all. Lol
I’m in Arkansas and they’re already bad. Especially ticks and mosquitoes 😫
@@pip_a728 Oh no!! Our allergies are terrible currently but no bugs yet, luckily. 🙂
Thank you so much for showing the video I love your dresses and outfits
Glad you like them!
I just loved your outfits in this vlog.. I like how you matched Brittainy cherry book.. Loved your video as always
Thank you so much!! Linked them all in the description if you want to grab them for yourself!
I can't wait to read tia Williams new book I really enjoyed seven days in June ❤😊
Seven days in June was so so good!
This vlog is my life, so cozy and cute, wish I lived near a beach. The Uk weather is horrendous 😢❤
I check out books at Barnes and noble then go home and order on Amazon because of the price difference, now I bought a kindle and I truly think there is no going back for me, if I fall deeply in love with a book, I will by the book, I am trying to keep my inventory low
Getting a kindle is truly a game changer! So many books are on kindle unlimited!!
I know exactly what you mean about wanting to love a book and just end up not liking it. I felt that way about Song of Achilles it was a huge let down. I think I will pick up Ricky Wilde though because I love historical romance so I might like it. Thank you for the description though because I have been on the fence about picking up.
You’re welcome!!
I thought I was the only one who struggled with Love Redesigned. 😭
You’re not alone!
Dreamland was so great
I loved it too!
Love all your videos and you give such great recs! I literally watched like 3 videos in a row on my phone and I kept cleaning my screen and noticed a spot on your camera lol! I’ve been wanting to wipe it haha! Sorry Virgo OCD 😆
I’ve been trying to get whatever it is out from under my lense but I can’t grab it 😭😭 hopefully I can figure it out soon haha
I’m super leery about over hyped books and it takes me a moment to read them. But I also have fomo 😂😂 so if I keep hearing about I end having to get because I have to know what the hype is about 😂😂
Aw we love this❤❤❤
So glad!!
@@ShawnaciSchroeder I hope you have a lovely day🫶
Love your videos! I’ve been meaning to mention-there seems to be a mark on your camera lens (towards the right). Just in case you didn’t know ☺️❤️ love from 🇬🇧 x
Thanks for letting me know! It’s under my lense and I cant seem to find where it is. Hoping I can get it out soon!
I love the music you play all the time. Can you tell me who they are!!
@tammyyoung8010 Two songs you may be referring to are ‘Summer Love’ by Kylie Dailey & ‘Weather Any Storm’ by Cody Francis. I know cause I Shazamed them. Hope this helps!
Thank you for sharing this! Most will come up on Shazam and snapchats song indicator! I can’t remember the names of all of them and I always forget to add them in the description. Will try to remember next time!
I make cards and have been done that for decades, however, my papercrafting journey started with scrapbooking. I sent you a card to Brandy's office a few months ago!! ❤️
Thank you so much!! Appreciate you 🥹🥹😭😭
@@ShawnaciSchroeder Omg it auto completed to Brandy 🤣 🤣 🤣 sorry!!!!! BRADY!
oh man. I strayed away from a love song for ricki wilde because I like fantasy and magical realism. thanks for this tip! i’m may read it now. 😅
You’re welcome! I bet you’ll love it!
Your dresses are great❤❤❤
Thank you!!
@@ShawnaciSchroeder it’s true!!🫶 your style>>>
It’s interesting to me maybe because I’m in my late forties but I have no problem dnf’ing a book. I dnf well before a hundred pages a lot of the time. There’s too many books and it’s okay not to like one. Doesn’t mean the books bad it’s just not for you. Love the video as always.
Use your own judgement for self care items. I do research and see what works for me. It's nice to get recs, but at the end of the day, use what works for you. Almost like with books what I like you may not like. 📚😊
0:52 no I haven't but I just got the first 2 books in the series I'm really excited to read them!! ❤
You’re going to love them!! They’re so good!
I felt similar when I read Shark Heart, I just really wanted to love it… but it really was a slog 😢
The worst feeling 🥹😭
I highly recommend The Magic of Lemon Drop Pie. 🍋🤗
Thanks for recommending!
So I signed up for my first ARC and was chosen. Guess I wasn’t paying attention bc it was actually the 3rd book in a series. So I had to read the first two books. I wanted to love these books so bad. But…I didn’t 😬 They were too wordy, the spice often felt ill-timed, they felt rushed. Amongst other problems. I wanted to shake the books and give them the Tyra Banks line, ‘We were rooting for you!’ I felt so bad bc Im like damn, my first ARC and it’s a dud for me 😬
Omg I’m screaming!! Ahh that’s the worst 😭😭
Hey I haven't seen any of your impossible questions for a while like "Would you rather read all your favorites only for the rest of your life or only new books that might be terrible from now on?" LOL 😆😸
They’re coming back soon! Haven’t had time to think of any new ones yet hahaha
@@ShawnaciSchroeder Glad to hear! 👍
Do you have any tips for really slow readers? You seem to get through books quickly and I've always been on the slower side.
One thing that’s reeeeally helped me to read more is to wake up early before work and read! I usually read at 5am! That’s when I read the most! It also helps me to set a timer to focus so I’m not constantly grabbing my phone to scroll
I know this wasn’t directed towards me but reading slower is not a bad thing at all. I feel like taking your time with a book is a great thing. I read fast and many times I don’t even remember the book I read 3 or 4 days later. When I end up liking a book, I usually have to read it again because even though I read it, I feel like I digested it too fast lol!
I said all that to say we all move at different paces 😊 I hope people chime in with tips if you like to read faster but also there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it either 🫶🏾
@@_krystyna_ I appreciate your advice and I'm the same way, not able to retain too much information when trying to read quickly.
@@ShawnaciSchroeder Thank you, that's a good idea. I usually have to stay up late just to get reading done while my kids are asleep because I can never focus on books when I need to take care of them.
I love romance, it's my favorite genre. However, I don't like when there is too much sex in the book. I used to love those kinds of books, but I got tired of it.
Same! I feel like sometimes it overtakes the plot
A Love Song For Ricki Wilde was such a disappointment for me! I loved Seven Days in June and this one just didn't do it for me
Same!
I love Love redesigned
My favorite character male name Julian because it reminds my boss it my favorite book my author you have keep reading getting better
Definitely plan on picking up the second book! The pink cover is pulling me in. So excited for it to come out in June!
I love the name Julian too
It's kind of unfortunate A Love Song for Ricki Wilde wasn't marketed towards historical fiction and magical realism readers. A lot of historical fiction and magical realism books already have romance so we would probably enjoy this. Making it seem like contemporary romance seems like a set-up for disappointment. How can it be contemporary if a big part of the novel is set in the past?
A book I wanted to love, but DNFd 50% in was Magnolia Parks 🫣. I know you love them and it would have been the perfect book for me in my 20s because TMZ was my news source! I also love scrapbooking! So relaxing!
Have you ever thought about allergy shots? It’s natural and you only have to do it for 3-5 years. Life changer!
Totally understandable! It’s not for everyone so I get it! & I actually started the process for allergy shots, but then found at that many women have to continue for years after the time expected because of hormone changes so I decided against it for now. Might change my mind in the future!
I Love, love, love, love, love T Target and Walmart is my favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite stores and Barnes and Nobles if I get me some books❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
