- A year ago, this barn was full of rodents and dirt, but the owners decided to turn this into a livable space. Tune in as we walk through this incredible property, that has been transformed from a historical barn to a quaint mother-in-law quarters.

A huge thank you to you & the owners for allowing us a peek inside places that we wouldn't normally get to see on a visit to the Island. I've biked so many of the roads & wondered what the amazing places that lie behind those gorgeous hedges were like. The combination of equestrian theme downstairs & nautical upstairs fits Island life so perfectly! Always look forward to your posts - gardening, home, Island life - love them all!

Talk about a guest house guest will never want to leave. It's really wonderful, what lucky family and friends they have.
It's a gem behind that red sliding door. Well thought out spaces. Love the juxtapose design of naturally claimed wood downstairs in the living area and the stark white walls upstairs in the sleeping areas. Going to bed is like climbing into the clouds. Really really lovely.

That was such a beautiful treat. If the barn is so well renovated, I can only imagine what the house looks like inside. My favourite part is the red accents splashed here and there - like the door, wall lights and gorgeous cushions. In regards to the raised beds please share with us the process you undergo to determine which type of soil to use, why, and what you do to amend it. I’m waiting for my large container to arrive which will house an Acer rubrum REDPOINTE ('Frank Jr.') maple tree and I want to prep it properly to boost its best survival rate on my Rooftop deck. Thank you!
Just found your videos recently! Thank you! I recognize many of the “doorways” you have featured, because when I was there snapped many photos of them including your “ Grandma’s “ unbeknownst to me. What kind of boxwoods do you use. I’m in Wisconsin zone 5 and lost over 25 after a winter several years ago.

The themes are both wonderful-absolutely beautiful but I thought the transition from equestrian to nautical was very abrupt.

Pretty sure Adrienne Rilenge and Up North Construction designed the interior of that barn! I’ve seen the original portfolios and credit should be given to them. Your landscaping is great but the interior was not your doing.

Could you clear up the pronunciation of Mackinac we just had a discussion with a woman insists it pronounced the other way from yours.
It is pronounced “Mack-in-awe” spelled mackinac…. Mackinaw city, across the water has a different spelling, same pronunciation!
