      Caren - I have a question about the pouring medium you mentioned. IS this the stuff you put in to CREATE CELLS when you pour? Or is the silicone (floetrol?) the additive that creates cell formations???) I'm like you, I do art for a living - so I want to invest in the products that are workable and not another waste of money. I can't afford to throw or put stuff aside. Thank you for replying...I do hope I hear from you :-) The other question about product... I also use paints from Faux Effects Intl (I'm a faux finishing prof.) - and wow...while writing this, I'm also thinking of what I have that causes resist applications. I did this for furniture techniques... Hmm, going to have to practice on this. okay... thank you again, just thinking out loud while I type. LOL Juliana

There is one thing I'd like to see in the scroll down box under the video if you would please summarize or make a list about the ingredients or stuff to get you've been talking about during the video, since sometimes I have to go back (even several times in one video) to find that particular part where you're talking about supplies or tools, etc. Maybe it would help only me, because I'm absolutely a beginner and everything seems very important to me. I hope this will work on cigar boxes as well as canvases Because this will be my first try at this, I don't want to invest lots of money, so I'll be using the acrylic paint from Michaels or AC Moore. • @carengoodrich
      @carengoodrich  Před 7 lety +1

      Lauren K yes gesso is cheap insurance and if you are consistent in using it, it eliminates potential problems with your painting surface. We have enough problems already lol. Also the canvas makers always claim "pre-gessoed" but it's such a thin layer of nothing, that it doesn't amount to anything.

    I've been using newspapers and a plastic drop sheet for my fluid work. I'm going to try the plastic sheets you suggested. I love that the paint peels off. Also, just a suggestion, in the description box you should have links to your social media sites - Instagram, Facebook etc. So people can click and follow easily. 😊 Thanks

    Hi, thank you for sharing your beginner's guide. Tonight I wanted to pour my paints into a cup and onto the canvas. Unfortunately, I do not have a pouring medium, so I ran across your link hoping to find out if the Liquitex Matte or glazing medium, or Mod Podge Matte (it has glue in it) will work. I live in a remote area, soI can't just hop over to the store to buy a pouring medium. I couldn't even find Elmer's glue in the art section at wal-mart. The closest art store is 50mi, and I do use Amazon to get many supplies and products. So, thanks for the heads up on the canvas thru A'zon. I'm a bit confused as to why Elmer's glue is used, even diluted. I would think this would cause the paint to crack and peel.
    Thanks for the and recommendations for alternate products that are money savers for a tight budget. I love Liquitex, but I have stocked up on "no big brand name" acrylics that cost a fraction of what Liquitex would cost me.
    Oh, so many questions...so hesitant to start without a pouring medium...what can go wrong, right? hahah.
    I did subscribe, so I hope to keep learning from the pro.

      A Vlogger Named Desire Not sure, but they look a bit more like “tongue depressors” (in the doctor’s office), to me. My popsicle craft sticks are a little narrower.
