YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST! Thank You - Caren
Caren - I have a question about the pouring medium you mentioned. IS this the stuff you put in to CREATE CELLS when you pour? Or is the silicone (floetrol?) the additive that creates cell formations???) I'm like you, I do art for a living - so I want to invest in the products that are workable and not another waste of money. I can't afford to throw or put stuff aside. Thank you for replying...I do hope I hear from you :-) The other question about product... I also use paints from Faux Effects Intl (I'm a faux finishing prof.) - and wow...while writing this, I'm also thinking of what I have that causes resist applications. I did this for furniture techniques... Hmm, going to have to practice on this. okay... thank you again, just thinking out loud while I type. LOL Juliana
Thankyou Karen
Best how to vido yet.
You rock..
Best HOW TO I've seen on this subject. You are to the point, and direct..... clear and not wasting time as most video makers do. Thank you so much.
Thank you, I hope you'll watch some of my other videos, lots of additional info in my more recent ones! Have fun painting!
I agree!
Thank you for making this much easier and cheaper for us newbies! I can't wait to get started!
Thank you that was so helpful!!!
It's so important to hold fast and tight to the desire to explore and need to play and have fun. I've been neglecting my inner child. I've been blocked. I really can't thank you enough for your videos because they have me excited about painting and trying something new.
Sherry I hope you are having fun, you worded your comment so nicely and I am tardy to reply. Hope you are unblocked and staying excited...
Same as everyone else I appreciate how easy you made this! No fluff, informational, truly a great beginners video!
Thank you Caren for the no-nonsense straight to the point video. My finger was poised to skip the boring intros. But your down to earth and easy to listen tutorial was what i was looking for.
JustGettinReady thanks! That was my very first CZcams video, over two years ago! I hope you will watch my other videos, too...to this day, I try not to waste people’s time with excessive blather and boring intros!
Thank you my lovely. I am such an OCD type of artist that I have been worrying too much about the mess- it gives me anxiety seeing the overflow of paint. But you have inspired me- so thank you!
I love how you do art as an art. Techniques and all aside, you like to go for the realness and to keep it as much raw as it can be. I think if i would do this, i would do these exactly the way you do. Its perfect. Great job.
this is the best how to on pouring acrylics I've seen ...been wanting to try for awhile but didn't know the right way to start...thank you for sharing
Thanks, Caren, for the clear easy to understand starting point of supplies. You answered my question of using glue as a medium. Right now, I am gathering info to be educated before attempting a pour and this and your other vids are being helpful. You are a great artist and teacher.
Nice and short, clear instructions with options, right to the point. Plus a bonus of saving me money?... Aw yes my kind of tutorial. Great job. Thank you
Thank you so much for this list. I cant wait to experience this new art! I'm a photographer but I am enjoying the other side into the artist world. Love your videos!
Clear and concise video, good information without wasting a lot of time, good tips on saving money too. I am inspired to try this at long last. Thank you Caren!
Hi Caren. I’m watching your video three years after you made it and it’s just as relevant and useful! Very informative and straight to the point. I follow all your videos for the same reason. Love from India ❤️
Thank you so much!! ❤️
Caren, you are AWESOME! A friend told me about acrylic pouring a week ago and I've been trying to soak up as much knowledge as I can find before I do my first pour. I wish I had found your videos first because you explain everything in a way that a newbie can understand. Thank you!
Thank you and I'm glad to help! Just start pouring, that is what a lot of us did before there were many videos to look at!
THANK YOU! You’re my FIRST go to when I feel like I need to review... You are TALENTED, KNOWLEDGABLE, and APPRECIATED! 😊❤️
Kim Worthington thank you Kim, I appreciate you saying that!
Hi there. I was 3:42 seconds into watching your ad on google before I came right here to finish watching this and to give you an instant subscribe. This video is so condensed, straight to the point, informative and effective. I have watched other videos prior to this but this will certainly be my go to for my first pour which I am doing today. I didn't know that the Gesso stops leaking, so that just changed my approach! I will watch your other videos.
Thank you for getting right to the point on all your items needed...a lot of demonstraters wanna go on like it's an acting class, your wonderful!!!! Keep it simple, plus straight up facts and tips, you rock!!
Terisa DeNegre thanks, Terisa! I hope you watch my other videos for more straight up facts!
thankyou Caren, such relief to find someone who is concise in her insruction.
Oh thank you, glad I came through in a clear way.
I never thought of using Polycrylic. Thanks. That's a big money saver!
Caren, thank you for the most down to earth video that I've seen on this subject. As an artist who has never done pour before, I was looking for this just the way you presented it.
Lynn Pelletier thank you Lynn!! I hope you watch more of my videos, it seems like eons ago when I did this one but I'm glad it helps you!
Thank you, Caren...for taking the time to explain things to us newbies. There are so many channels out there that just blast music and pour paint and don't bother talk us through materials, processes, techniques, etc. **I've fallen in love with abstract art because of your channel!! May your channel grow to 100,000 very soon! 👍
Wow Sylvia, I appreciate it! It's been very gratifying to get feedback such as yours and I hope to hit 100,00 very soon, too!
Thank you so much for this! Especially the info about Nova Paint, I’m excited to make a trip to their factory store!
Best video for beginners. I appreciate your honesty! ❤
So glad I came across your channel along with acrylic pouring channel! That factory is near me too and I can't wait to get some good quality stuff that's also local! So far I've done 5 or 6 pours I'm learning but have lots more evidently. I feel like a scientist and I love it😁
Thank you so much for your videos I think I want to get back to painting again, haven't painted in years!
About to start my paint-pouring journey. Definitely helpful. Thank you
Thank you Caren for your straight to the point presentation. very useful
YES! Thank you very much for this very valuable information. I've been looking for exactly this! Can't wait to get started and thank you for all your videos, I absolutely love them!
Beth McCabe you are welcome, Beth, thanks for watching and have fun on your painting journey!
This video was very helpful and straight to the point! Thank you! Also that varnish looks amazing on it! I have Gamvar and it doesn't dry as shiny (I'm an oil painter though, and I don't want my portraits to look so shiny as I would a pour painting) so I'll look into buying this once I get started! thank you very much!
Thanks Caren with a "C", great job, to the point. I'm thinking of doing this to a solid body guitar; I guess I can skip the gesso. But I'll practice on some canvases till I get a color combo I like. Thanks again, great video.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I stumbled onto these while looking for something to do that I could mail to my grandsons since I can't visit them during this virus crisis. I love your cost saving tips since I have to use what is in my home for now.
Barbara M yes, use what you have!
Caren, thanks so much for the video and sharing your knowledge.
Thank you so so much for this information video...I got what I needed.. All in one place and inexpensive and I'm excited to paint
Great information! Thank you Caren for sharing your insight.
Hi Caren,
Thank you for making this video. it helped me to gather my equipment.
Wow...thank you! AWESOME clarity in basics.
Patricia Voldberg you are welcome, Patricia! I hope you check out my most recent videos, too!
Thank you for taking the time to do this video. So helpful!
Audrey Coley thank you, Audrey, I hope you’ll check out my more recent videos and join us at my Facebook group, Paint Pouring People!
So straight forward - thank you. Now I'm going to watch you pour!
Thank you thank you thank you! I'm so eager to try this and your tips are a great way to start.
Thank you for the explanations and for a reality check as far as costs go and what one can buy cheaper.
Hi Caren; I'm really appreciate your videos, since you explain everything so clearly and I love that you let us know how we can save money while doing art. There is one thing I'd like to see in the scroll down box under the video if you would please summarize or make a list about the ingredients or stuff to get you've been talking about during the video, since sometimes I have to go back (even several times in one video) to find that particular part where you're talking about supplies or tools, etc. Maybe it would help only me, because I'm absolutely a beginner and everything seems very important to me. Thank you so much for your sharing and teaching.
Sheila Bartos thank you I am working on an updated video and list of supplies. Meanwhile you can start with whatever you have: paint, water, canvas etc
love your work. thank you for sharing and one of these days I'm going to try this. great info given!
Very informative. Thanks so much for all the money saving and practical tips!
Caren, you're a blessing. Thank you
Thank you for the helpful tips Caren.
I love how you articulate and speak clearly, plus you don't waste tons of time talking and talking and talking. Plus, your work is fabulous.
Thanks Rebecca! I try not to waste time, whether it’s mine or yours! Lol
Thank you so much for an easy to understand,, inexpensive (I hope) list of items I need as a "Newbie" to the Pouring Technique! I hope this will work on cigar boxes as well as canvases Because this will be my first try at this, I don't want to invest lots of money, so I'll be using the acrylic paint from Michaels or AC Moore. Now all I need to do is determine how much of each. Thanks again.
Thank you, Caren. I will be going through your series of videos, as I am excited to give pouring acrylics a try. You mentioned in your recent April 2017 video, incorporating silicone into the mixture. What is the advantage of adding it to the pouring medium and a touch of water? Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise with pouring acrylics. The process certainly does result in some gorgeous art pieces, and I am excited to see explore the possibilities.
Awesome video caren. Thanks for sharing
Hey Caren! Just watched this for the first time. You replied to my Hobby Lobby clearence comment yesterday! Thank you for the guidance, I'll be sure to check out your Amazon channel for the best products at the best prices!!! Thanks!
Do appreciate and enjoy your videos! Thank you for your insight!
very helpfull video. I been looking into doing a arciylic paint pour so excited!!!!
this is EXACTLY what ive been looking for. thank you.
Thanks so much for the info. A few months ago i tried a pour and my canvas buckled so was afraid to try again...but I got the cheap canvas's to try on and didn't gesso it because it was pre-gessoed. thanks for the tip about ALWAYS still gesso-ing a cheap canvas! I'm looking forward to trying again now
Lauren K yes gesso is cheap insurance and if you are consistent in using it, it eliminates potential problems with your painting surface. We have enough problems already lol. Also the canvas makers always claim "pre-gessoed" but it's such a thin layer of nothing, that it doesn't amount to anything.
Very simple and informative ! Thanks for the help !!
NEW SUB. This is the best video so far, and i've been watching how to tutorials to start this. I adore art. I love to paint, i don't paint THAT MUCH, but i love it when i do!!! thanks for being CLEAR on your instructions...;)

Me: Alright
"She's not much of an artist if ask me."
Me: OH SIS BE THROWING THE SHADE. XD
So nice of you to do this.
This is great starter video for budding painters 🎨 can you also show a quick video of how you prep your canvas before painting? I know you said about using primer, but a quick video on how and how much to use would be very helpful. Thanks Caren!!
Yt CB will do!
OMG I am sooo glad I found this video !! I am very new to this and this is the first video that was really informal to me. Thank you 👏
Kristina Marie great, I hope you’ll check out my other pour painting videos, too!

thank you, Joanne!
Hi Caren. Thank you so much for this video. It's so super helpful! I wondered if you have a video on how to apply the Minwax Polycyrilic protective finish?
this video saved me!!thankyou caren
Great video, Caren! I love Nova paints, too. Thanks for sharing all this good info!! 😊
Sherry, good to know you love Nova paints! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
Caren Goodrich hi caren., I'm making my orders to nova color and I'm like a happy kid when you say the pouring medium u use it's half the cost., thank you for saving me money., question is the nova flex is it the 235 or the 233?
I called nova the 235 is more fluidy and the 233 is creamer., which one you use? Thank you
Rachel, I mainly use 233 but 235 is fine. Nova says they are essentially the same product, they just give you a choice between thinner or not as thin!
I really appreciate the list. Thank you. I did feel like you just don't seem like you enjoy it too much. I hope I am reading you wrong because you seem to be super-knowledgeable.
thanks for this video.
do you mixt miniwax polycrylic in your paint as we can do with resin? or do you put it as a finish coat?
thanks
Thank you, Caren.
I'm wondering how to apply all these ingredients into one dirty pour painting. What to mix etc. Thanks!
I'm really enjoying your videos, I'm hoping for many more.
thank you Natalie!
I'm new at this and this was VERY helpful! Answered all my questions. Thank you!
Shae Holden thank you Shae, and FYI, I recently launched my own line of Paint Ready To Pour, called Happy Medium. Check it out at www.happymedium.fun if you want to save time and money on mixing, etc. and get right down to paint pouring!
Caren Goodrich I'll check out your site, thanks!
Subscribed, thank YOU. Very much appreciated, very informative video.
thanks Caren, an excellent video
love your channel and your creations
Thank you Karen great tutorial!
Thank you so much for this, very helpful!
Thanks for the great info! I want to learn and then do this with my 4-H club!
Thanks so much for the great tips! ❤️
Thank you so much I've been trying to find other products to use that's not so expensive
Thank you so much. Before now I had no idea how to use my air brush. Because I could not mix my a acrylic paints.
Thank you!! Great info. For the mixing medium, you mentioned elmers glue. Could I use Golden polymer medium?
I've been using newspapers and a plastic drop sheet for my fluid work. I'm going to try the plastic sheets you suggested. I love that the paint peels off. Also, just a suggestion, in the description box you should have links to your social media sites - Instagram, Facebook etc. So people can click and follow easily. 😊 Thanks
thanks, YFL...it took me awhile to get my CZcams organized but I have social links in my banner art now.
Great intro for a person who is just starting the process.
Hi, thank you for sharing your beginner's guide. Tonight I wanted to pour my paints into a cup and onto the canvas. Unfortunately, I do not have a pouring medium, so I ran across your link hoping to find out if the Liquitex Matte or glazing medium, or Mod Podge Matte (it has glue in it) will work. I live in a remote area, soI can't just hop over to the store to buy a pouring medium. I couldn't even find Elmer's glue in the art section at wal-mart. The closest art store is 50mi, and I do use Amazon to get many supplies and products. So, thanks for the heads up on the canvas thru A'zon. I'm a bit confused as to why Elmer's glue is used, even diluted. I would think this would cause the paint to crack and peel.
Thanks for the and recommendations for alternate products that are money savers for a tight budget. I love Liquitex, but I have stocked up on "no big brand name" acrylics that cost a fraction of what Liquitex would cost me.
Oh, so many questions...so hesitant to start without a pouring medium...what can go wrong, right? hahah.
I did subscribe, so I hope to keep learning from the pro.
Thank you so much for you video!!!! It is much appreciated!!!
This was so helpful! Thank you!!!
OH. MY. GOD. I’ve been going crazy wondering of an easier way to stir my paints and I never once thought of popsicle sticks. 🤦🏻♀️THANK YOU
A Vlogger Named Desire Not sure, but they look a bit more like “tongue depressors” (in the doctor’s office), to me. My popsicle craft sticks are a little narrower.
gratzhaus1 even better. Thanks!
Very informative. Thanks!
Yo i like her off the first video. She seems like the type to keep it real.
Great video, hella informative. Thank you so much! You've gained a subscriber.
Great info and video
Caren: Thank you for all the information.
Could you write the list of materials? Some of them can't be seen in the video.
Thank you again
Thanks for the info and video
Caren Goodrich... I have a question. Should I purchase number 233 novaplex, or 235 novaplex? Thanks for the informative video! Tons of help!!
