    So to summarize:
They basically released a PC version for the current gen consoles, that broke existing and essential quality of life improvements/mods.
This version is currently not even working properly on Xbox.
There is no HDR, no motion blur or new postprocessing (not even in the 30/40fps modes which is madness) no ray tracing, no graphical improvements, apart from minor tweaks to LOD, volumetrics, shadow resolution that PC version already had... Also, why is there a 30/40 fps mode in such an old game?
This game is almost 10 years old and Xbox and PS5 are still dropping frames to 50s.
According to John's standards, we could easily call this game "retro" in just few months.
Ultrawide screen stretches HUD from 16:9 and simply zooms in the whole FOV - there is no proper widescreen support. (this is what mods fixed ages ago)
Locked to 60fps and if you unlock it, the game falls apart.
Now compare this "next gen" update to Witcher 3 real next gen update, which was also free, that shipped with perfect HDR, ray tracing and plethora of other visual improvements.
    🤦

As for The Witcher 3, yeah, they've added ray tracing, but the gameplay is still the very definition of eurojank but at least now you can fight the controls and the horrible UI in glorious RTX. Yay!

Fallout 4 loses HDR support on Series X & S with April 25th update. I was very disappointed to see when booting up Fallout 4 post update on my Series X that native HDR is not supported. Given that now the game has been “upgraded” to a Series X & S game, you can no longer utilize Auto HDR (which looked fantastic on Fallout 4). I’m really hoping that Bethesda is able to add HDR support back.

Another issue with Fallout 4 on PC is the tendency for the launcher on some PC's to not list any kind of resolution that isn't 1080p. If your monitor's resolution is 4K or 1440p, sometimes the option for you to play the game at those resolutions in full screen mode won't show up, at which point you'll have to play in windowed mode, which creates a smaller window for the game that only takes up roughly 75% of your display (which you can't re-size). As of me posting this comment, this isn't fixable by changing the resolution in the game's config files. The game was forcing me to play at some weird resolution of a ratio not 16:9, which made everything look distorted and blurry.
How in the world is something like this even an issue? I have never encountered something like this in all my years of playing games on PC. This isn't even something I remember dealing with on PC in the mid-2000s (other than maybe Oblivion lol). It boggles my mind that Bethesda Game Studios is a multi-billion dollar company rather than a tiny studio run by a handful of people. These kinds of little issues should not exist on games made by a company of this size. Also, the Xbox version having a quality mode that simply doesn't work is so rich. How Microsoft can mismanage things to even let that happen, I don't know. Bethesda has a well earned reputation at this point for really technically insufficient work and it seems like they just don't care and take steps at every turn to reinforce that reputation. I'm glad Baldur's Gate 3 stole Starfield's thunder because Bethesda needs to be humbled. Their workmanship is piss poor compared to other studios in the industry.

Got a spreadsheet to do simple math about the 40->120->60 frame interpolation:
    - Usual 40->60: 1/3 frames arrive at time, 1/3 of the frames are duplicated of the frames that arrived on time, 1/3 of the frames arrived late, causing terrible frame pacing.
    - Bonkers 40->120->60 interpolation: 1/3 of the frames are "real" frames, 2/3 of the frames are interpolated, all with (ideally) perfect frame pacing.
So the idea is basically using motion vectors to fix bad frame pacing, if latency isn't crazy, I think it is a pretty good idea.

Before games like Doom or Wolfenstein 3D, the PC wasn’t even seen as a gaming machine. Not anything too serious. People usually played on a console, or on computers with dedicated graphics and sound processing chips like the Commodore machines, or the Atari St and such. The IBM PC and compats weren’t even really considered for action games. Doom solidified PCs into the action gaming-space, and did it in a way to take advantage of the one thing PCs had over the other systems. CPU power and the PCs use of chunky pixels over planar. It reversed the advantage, due to how the graphics were rendered at the time. It also was one of the earliest examples, of some sort of clock-based speed where many games before it didn’t and could run too fast the moment they were put on a faster machine.

If they are worried about “casuals” ruining the experience, just put a disclaimer on the graphics settings saying that “changing these options may severely impact performance and graphic fidelity, change at your own risk” and let console players change their settings to tailor to what they prefer. Having two preset settings is rather dumb considering new consoles are basically PCs in a box.

To be fair, console games have been offering more options to gamers over the last 2 console gens, but it does make me wonder, why not go all in and let gamers play how they want, it won't impact casual gamers that want to pick up and run as they will have a pre-defined set-up.
