Good point, William Eklund (Sharks #6 overall) hurt his shoulder, needed surgery after taking a big hit in the AHL… but looks great this year! It’s a fine line between they’re gonna take their licks (Knies a La Bennett) as a youngster.. so how much do u shield them ego/pride/confidence… great points on the OHLers, they need to reform these “transfer” rules or something cause NCAA is quickly becoming a leading path to the NHL!!!
I'm a fan of his. But let's not forget when he was drafted fans were told he's 2-3 yrs away. Although this yr has been monster, he's just gotta grow more

He'll fill out to probably 195-200 around 22 but he plays bigger than what he is right now. I think if he has a good off season and training camp you gotta give the kid a shot. They dont need to rush it but going back to the O could plateau his development. To bad they couldn't do a year in the A or even go to a euro league to develop more like matty did.
I’m pretty sure they can do a year in the A. It would just come off of his ELC and wouldn’t be able to go back to London

He's a great Junior player, but, as a season ticket holder, I can tell you he's not ready for the NHL. On second thought he constantly overpasses and gives the puck away so maybe he would be perfect for the Leafs.
he made the team last year but there wasnt enough room given how much depth we went in with. He's ready, been many other players to start smaller and at the same age.
I want to see him on the Marlies and if he can compete with men I’d like to see him make the jump next season

Marner right now is still only 180 lbs and an inch taller than Cowan. After like 9 years in the NHL. Cowan absolutely could join at 185 and be fine. His play will dictate it, not his size.
Wyatt Johnston is currently listed at 6'/184lbs, Cowan is 5'11"/185, let's cut the "he's to small" bullshit. Give the kid a chance and see how he does. Size isn't everything anymore in today's NHL, especially when a kid like Cowan plays as "big" as he does, kids a dog. 1 more year in junior would be a waste

Cowan will be fine, but will likely be playing for another team next year in a trade for a defenseman
Cowan and Minten will be playing next season.
Minten should be traded. He’s not nearly as good as people make him out to be but he could get us a good piece we need to win now

I agree with noodles and Hayes, also I want to see if he can continue that consecutive games with a point record. Give him a work-out and nutrition program to put more muscle on that frame and let him spend 1 more season in Junior to dominate.
He's currently bigger than Marner, what more do you need from the kid? One more year dominating junior will probably be worse for him, he could lose attention to detail and 0 reason to strive or work harder

He also plays gritty anyway and has never been scared of contact or scrums. He has even fought I think 4 times in junior. If London wins the memorial cup then there is quite literally nothing left for him to do at the junior level. I dont care if someone is 18, 24, or 30 years old. If they can play they can play, he looks too dominant for junior it would waste a year to go back there. He *should* play full time in the NHL next season as he cant play in the AHL.

He is not mature enough physically or mentally, yeah he scores goals in Jr A but the NHL grown men would make him pay, he’s not entitled to a place on the roster

I’d say he’s ready for some AHL action. He’s gotta play with men I agree but it would be absolutely pointless to have him in London for another year especially if they win the OHL and memorial cup.

He’s 5’11 185 pounds. Brad Marchand is 5’9 176. Cowan will be just fine.
