I first discovered Troy and Nick’s channel back at the end of 2019 when I first moved to university and now I’m about to graduate. Sitting down every Monday after a long day of classes and assignments to watch Flounderfest has been something I looked forward to every week and will miss greatly, but I really appreciate the time and dedication you both put into these past few years to create a truly special series. Can’t wait to see more amazing collabs in the future!

The item limit mechanics make this mode a lot more interesting than what I was expecting. It'd be cool if this got fleshed out into its own mode with additional mechanics to balance it out more and maybe make mushroom not as prevalent.
I could even some sort of indie game with a similar mechanic. Maybe it can have a deck building mechanic where you can allocate certain items into certain positions. Like a speed boost item that gets weaker if you put it in a higher place position, or a speed boost that always gives you the highest boost speed but has a long cool down timer and/or makes your other boost items worse.
I agree. This is basically a whole new game. Would love to see more of it.
So much potential with this mod !!
Blur did something interesting with item placements, where item locations are pre-determined and you can always see what you're getting as you approach them. This is actually pretty neat for balance: Boosts and Repairs can be placed on less optimal paths, both frontrunners and those behind get a choice when it comes to offensive and defensive options, etc.
Blur in general just nails item balance, so I recommend checking it out if you're curious about that kind of thing.
That's what I'm doing! Watching Troy videos and getting some ideas for game modes in my game. I already done Completely Random Items and it's so funny how chaotic this mode can be! I tried 75% of the Items are Blue Shells in my game too (it has an item that is similar to a blue shell). This video has a interesting game mode too!
When i saw nick pulling a tc in first, I was both sorry for him and was laughing, because a tc in first on some tracks is equal to you getting blued LOL

So as far as I can tell these are the items you get:
1st: Thunder Cloud
2nd: POW Block
3rd: Triple Greens
4th: Mushroom(?) [since Mushroom is the default if there's too many of one item it's kinda hard to tell but it seems like it's a mushroom]
5th: Triple Reds
6th: Bob-omb
7th: Blue Shell
8th: Mega Mushroom
9th: Star
10th: Shock
11th: Bullet Bill
12th: Golden Mushroom
What threw me off at first is that not everyone in the room is actually using the mod, so I thought Fake Item Box was the 4th place item at one point and the Blooper was the 7th, but I realized that there were too many items for 12 spots and that's what tipped me off. This mod seems really fun, I kinda wanna play it myself.
I think the 4th place box is probably a blooper, the others make sense though for sure!

Now that the flounder fest era has now officially concluded, Troy has now officially finished off Nick 6-4 for most flounder fest season victories in this insane all-time rivalry series!
When Troy finished in first place on Grumble Volcano, he literally talks as fast as the “Jimmy John’s” advertisement guy when he is so confused with everything that happened in the end as a result! Craziness!
This has easily been one of my favourite episodes in FF, not even because it was the final episode, but purely on a technical level. This mod is just *made* for strategic competitive play, so seeing both you and Nick pull off so many strategies has been just pure entertainment!
But well, guess that's the series. GGs Troy for winning the season! (And the entirety of FF with 6/4) But obviously Nick deserves just as much credit for playing so well despite being so busy.
The past 2 years wouldn't have been the same without FlounderFest, I remember way too many days where a specific episode has dropped and me loosing my mind over some of these episodes, I'll always cherish these moments! Easily one of, if not my favourite series you have ever put on your channel!

7:40: I find it funny when an image of Troy pulling a mega thundercloud as his first item on Dry Dry Ruins says “YES YOU CAN!” after he says that you can’t pull a mega thundercloud as your first item during his conversation with Nick on Maple Treeway!
I find it funny when Troy secretly deceives Nick when says he pulled a blooper when he really pulled a shock on Mario Circuit!
And with this episode, the Flounderfest series has come to an end. Thank you for entertaining my Mondays with the Floundfest episodes! I always enjoy watching you and Nicholas compete against each other, giving me lots of joy and laughter. At least we got the good ending where Troy and Nicholas become friends again. We all love to see it, and it was fun watching the Flounderfest series! I wish the best of luck on whatever new Mario Kart series you have in store for us! :)

You should do an OP items mod, something like this: Single Banana: Creates a line of bananas blocking the road. Single green shell: Splits into five the instant it’s thrown. Single Red Shell: It just flies without every cracking; rather, it takes the most inside line possible. Mushroom: Let’s you zoom through any ground item. (I.E Banana, Shell, any item littering the ground). Triple items: same as one except you can do it three times. Blue Shell: Specifically hits people halfway between two item sets. POW Block: You can’t dodge it unless you’re in the air. Blooper: More ink the higher placement you are. Mega Mushroom: Makes you so big you’re basically playing Tiny Tracks (You can squish everyone!). Star: Bumps everyone you hit into the wall. Bullet Bill: Lasts for regular time OR until you’ve gained four positions. Shock: Shocks everyone for the amount of time it usually shocks 3rd place. Please like so Troy will see!
Forget about bomb: Bomb leaves a circular hole sizing half the width of the track from where it blows up. Please like I put a lot of effort into this!!!

This was an amazing series. First saw Race to 9999 a few years ago surprised that Mario Kart wii was in my feed in 2019. You've really got me vying for a new disc drive to fix my old wii and hop back in.
When Race to 9999 first started I'd just finished high school (uk), and now I'm coming towards the end of my second year at uni, time flies! Thanks for all the entertainment on Monday evenings guys!

Actually if you spam the item button while the roulette is spinning you get your item faster and he was trying to get the thundercloud before the cannon to get a speed boost out of it. But unknowingly he spammed through a mushroom thinking the TC would auto deploy anyways. Good observation though!
Dude FlounderFest is an AMAZING series! I enjoyed it so much! The ups and downs like the hills in Mario Circuit or Dry Dry Desert. Phenomenal job guys!

End of an era. Watched the final of the world snooker championship and then the finale of this. I discovered this series towards the end of 2020, and have really enjoyed it. I am gonna miss it. Troy's performance in the final season was brilliant. Well done
This mod would've been a lot cooler if everyone used it, and it could make for a cool team event, if one team is top 2, they can swap positions to ensure neither player gets a TC, but they would need to be cautious of the players behind them and make sure they don't get bombed. I could see there being a lot of strategy with this mod, and hope to see more of it in the future!

Flunderfest was a lot of fun to watch, I binged every episode back in September - October last year around then when the series was still ongoing and you both have provided fun personalities, an engaging & entertaining rivalry, and a memorable and iconic series for both your channels. Just a random idea for a mod, what about implementing the LEGO Racers item system? The way LEGO Racers handed items was that instead of randomizing them, items were divided up into four types and assigned a color - red for projectiles, yellow for traps, blue for shields and green for speed boosts. Colored item bricks were distributed throughout each course. Picking up one of those bricks would give the lowest-end item in that category, but you could upgrade those items to higher-end ones by picking up power bricks also scattered throughout each course, with a maximum of 3 power bricks. You lose a power brick if you get hit by an opponent's item, in addition to being slowed down. If I were to apply this to Mario Kart Wii items, the equivalents would be:
Red:
0 Bricks: Cannonball - Green Shell
1 Brick: Grappling Hook - Red Shell
2 Bricks: Magic Wand - Triple Greens
3 Bricks: Triple Missiles - Triple Reds
Yellow:
0 Bricks: Oil Slick - Banana
1 Brick: Powder Keg - Bob-Omb
2 Bricks: Tractor Beam Satellite - Triple Banana
3 Bricks: Mummy's Curse - Droppable Thunder Cloud
Blue (I'd have to deviate from the formula for these, there's not really any equivalent to shields in Mario Kart so I'll use ranged effect and power items instead):
0 Bricks: Blue Shield - Blooper
1 Brick: Green Shield (lasts longer) - Pow Block
2 Bricks: Yellow Shield (spins out opponents who touch it) - Star
3 Bricks: Orange Shield (spins out opponents, lasts longer) - Mega Mushroom
Green:
0 Bricks: Boost - Mushroom
1 Brick: Super Boost - Triple Mushroom
2 Bricks: Flying Boost - Golden Mushroom
3 Bricks: Warp (most overpowered item in any kart racing game, basically an ultra shortcut in item form) - Bullet Bill
Of course, this leaves the shock and blue out, so I'd say that they should occasionally pop up at random instead of the normal item in the positions they'd usually appear in.

I remember finding your channel right before race to 9999 came out over the (apparently) years it's been great to watch the rivalry between the two of you. While flounderfest may end like race to 9999 did, I'm hoping that the dynamic of the two of you as rivals continues. Either way, I'm looking forward to future collaborations between you two.
