      Yes. Presenter was mistaken. 2006-7 Accord sedans could be had with a 3.0L V6 AND a 6 speed manual trans. I owned an '07 6 speed manual. It had Nav, voice recognition, leather, heated electric front seats and 6 disc premium satellite radio. It came with the Acura 5 spoke wheels from the factory. The V6 manuals were identified by the RED "V6" badge on the trunk lid. Best car I ever owned.

    I own an 06 coupe 6-6. I've never seen one in the wild and I live in Northern California. My package was lightest available. No nav no spoiler. Graphite pearl. I get offers on it everywhere I go. Strangers knock on my door asking to buy it. I bought it new and it has under 75,000 miles. I'm never selling it. I learned my lesson when I sold a manual transmission Nissan that I missed immediately. So when I bought the Accord new, I told myself don't sell it.... ever. My nephew who is a car guy was blown away by what a sleeper it is.

    I have two of these V6 6MT Coupe models in the family, a 2005 and a 2006. While the manual transmission definitely keeps things more interesting, I don't think of this as an enthusiast car. That said, my opinion would likely be different if Honda had equipped this model with a limited slip differential and better handling. Regardless, this is a great all around car. Personally I like the relative simplicity of cars from this era, preferring them over today's vehicles with their added screens/electronics. In all honesty, I actually prefer the interior design of the earlier generation Accords, but the 7th gen is a good overall compromise given this particular powertrain.

    • @SteffanJohal
      @SteffanJohal  Před rokem +1

      I agree that the cars from this era are superior in certain ways.

    • @andydhillon1977
      @andydhillon1977 Před rokem +1

      The two shortfalls of this car can be easily remedied. 2004-2006 TL 6-spd LSD swaps right in and the suspension is easily rectified with an aftermarket suspension replacement.
      You can even swap in a 3.2L TL engine or even a Odyssey 3.5L easily.
      Everything I listed makes it an enthusiast car. Lol

    • @VirtualGuth
      @VirtualGuth Před rokem

      @@andydhillon1977 Sure, there are no shortage of cars that can be made into enthusiast cars. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking Honda or the Accord for that matter. I just tend to evaluate cars as they were actually released by their respective manufacturers. Once you start changing things up then all bets are off.

    • @andydhillon1977
      @andydhillon1977 Před rokem

      @VirtualGuth I get what you're saying. There are different types of shoppers. I'm the kind of enthusiast who fully expects to make changes no matter what. Even if I got a car like an S2000, changes will be made. Most cars that are sold to the masses need to be watered down to sell more cars.
      One new car I would consider buying is the new Nissan Z. I've never even thought about buying one and not making changes to it. Suspension and exhaust would be replaced as soon as possible.
      I personally disagree that there isn't a shortage of enthusiast cars. I would absolutely say there is a shortage. That's why so many 80's and 90's cars are going up in value.

    • @VirtualGuth
      @VirtualGuth Před rokem

      @@andydhillon1977 Thanks for that (I'll apologize in advance for this long-winded reply). I must admit that I tend to make an effort to keep most of my vehicles stock, including my S2000. In the case of the S2K I put a good deal of effort into finding an all-original example to begin with. Whether attending some sort of car show, or simply admiring a car out in public it has always been the older unmolested cars that I am drawn to the most. That said, I don't have anything against others who choose to modify their vehicles and I respect those who approach such changes with a clear vision, pulling it off cleanly.
      While car enthusiasts will continue to be around for the foreseeable future, the reality is that there are far fewer of them around these days relatively speaking as compared to years ago. (I'm speaking as a guy now in his 60's.). When the vast majority of people want to drive utility vehicles of one sort or another be it a CUV, SUV or whatever, there is very little incentive for manufacturers to produce anything else. By the way, it's not just older cars that are going up in value, but countless other older things as well. This was no doubt exacerbated by the pandemic, but it is a trend that has been evolving for a while now. I believe much of this is a response to the level of automation/digital technology that has become intertwined with our lives.
      These days I just tend to take it all in when it comes to new cars, but I don't find myself tempted by any of them. While the level of performance on tap now is truly impressive, today's vehicles involve far too much integrated/invasive technology for my liking. In addition, designers must deal with far too many restrictive regulations to come up with anything that appeals to me visually speaking (though I do appreciate the higher levels of safety offered by today's cars). Thus older cars tend to appeal to me all the more overall as time goes by. If I had the money to go out and buy a new Z car, I would much rather spend it on a clean example of a 240Z. But I can understand why many others would choose the new Z.
