El viudo Paul se ha encerrado en su casa y la ha convertido en un santuario dedicado a la memoria de su mujer, contra los consejos de su amigo y de su ama de llaves. Finalmente, y tras un sueño que ocupa todo el acto 2, acepta que se debe dejar ir a los muertos y tras quemar las fotos y la peluca de su mujer, quema su corbata de luto y sale a unirse con su amigo... y a la vida.
Wow, Just fantastic. I almost got to see a production of Die Tote Stadt at the ROH in 2009. Unfortunately on the very day we went to London it snowed and snowed and snowed non stop all day and evening. We had to walk to our hotel (nr Covent Garden) and thought there would have been some ticket returns for the evening performance, only to be told the whole thing had been cancelled as no one could get to the theatre! I haven't yet been lucky enough to have had the possibility of seeing it since but I'm still hoping!
I have never in my life seen such an exquisitely, extraordinary performance. Jonas Kaufmann is heart-achingly convincing as this broken, suffering and almost psychotic man and I was so moved by his acting and supremely glorious singing that the tears just flowed. The music is gorgeous. I totally recommend this wonderful opera to anyone who hasn't seen it. Bravo Jonas ❤❤❤
So hard to define ...perfection - in every way. Thankful for enabling the world to hear/see something like this. 🙏

El inglés está bien para mi, pero Pregunto: Como logró incorporar los subt. en castellano? Es un programa? Gracias por la respuesta y saludos. Tengo las versiones de Estrasburgo, Venezia, Colón, Komische Oper y el film con King-Armstrong.,

Dieses unpassende, parfümierte und immer gleich ausdruckslos klingende Pseudopianogewinsel von Kaufmann geht mir dermaßen auf den A. Mit der durchdringenden und packenden Interpretation eines Schock in keinster Weise zu vergleichen. Aber auch der große Jimmy King und natürlich Tauber haben Maßstäbe gesetzt.
