WILD that the officer wouldn't subdue a man with a knife (taser, gun) when the only person at risk was the officer, but would chase him in a high speed chase down the highway endangering the lives of hundreds of other people. And everyone is gonna congratulate the police for a job well done. Disgusting.

I don’t understand why the police were chasing these crooks for taking alcohol and pursing them like this, unless there is more to the story as I can’t understand police taking a risk to themselves and others going onto the highway the wrong way. I shop at a Loblaws downtown and every night almost people are stealing beer and more beer and the store just let’s them walk out the door without any consequence, no police chasing these people. The police could be chasing people in my area nightly for theft and vagrants harassing people on the street, yet nothing is done in my neighbourhood. All this carnage for a few bottles of booze, something else again to this story. Was this vehicle being chased known to police for other criminal acts and weapons, that’s my thinking.

The chase was really because the alcohol thief pulled a knife on an off duty police officer, when the officer tried to intervintervene in the robbery at the liquor store.

What is wrong with our country. I feel like I’ve been seeing numerous news updates about police misconduct in regards to police being absolutely useless when it comes to protecting civilians.
The fact that an officer BACKED DOWN from a knife despite being trained to handle those situations with either a taser or a gun is astounding. The fact that the police let a situation of stolen alcohol escalate to this level all because on officer lacked the ability to do their job makes me question how low the bar is for someone to join a career in public safety.
I’m honestly appalled with how careless our country is with upholding the law and protecting citizens and their rights.
On a different note, the Walmart stores in California were being robbed so often they had to close them. Not enough law enforcement to police them and if the police were lucky enough to catch a thief, they were released the next day. If you lose money and can't recoup your losses, higher consumer prices or sometimes closure is what happens. The same with the LCBO's. There was $77M worth of booze stolen in 2018 alone. It's what happens when robberies get out of control, a huge police shortage and not stiff enough penalties for thieves. Don't be surprised if LCBO along with Walmart stores start closing shop in high crime cities in the near future similar to what's happening in California.

I have seen an experience Cop chasing a suspect, soon as suspect took wrong way, the Cop said on radio; "I stopped the chase he is in a wrong way", soon as he was back on the road, Cop informed to resume the chase, and then they got in a populated area, again he said, I paused the chase, he switched off his light + alarm, then stayed behind. And soon as suspect took high way exit, pursuit resumed. I know situation are different. But please Police... stop causing huge collateral damage to stop 2 or 3 bad guys.

Court records show Singh - born July 7, 2002 - was facing three theft under $5,000 charges - for allegedly stealing merchandise from a Home depot in Milton on Jan. 15, a Burlington LCBO store on Jan. 28, and a Home depot in Milton on Feb. 27. He was also facing a robbery charge for allegedly stealing merchandise from an LCBO in Oakville on Jan. 26.
Justice sources in several policing regions indicate Singh was also before the courts for carjacking and drug possession allegations.

What this cop did was just stupid, that cop put other drivers at risk by chasing the other car. The cop could’ve called for backup, the cop knew what type of vehicle and given other officers the description of it. Knowing the SIU, they’ll clear the cop of any wrong doing but had that cop not chased that car, maybe those 4 people who lost their lives would still be alive.
It's very common for high speed chases in traffic to end in death. Cops are very aware of that. So who was the idiot supervisor that let this happen and send several more cops racing against traffic? Each extra car is a huge risk to people. That highway is monitored by real time video and a roadblock could have been set up somewhere safe. WTF
