As someone who lived in Alpharetta for 23 years and raised 4 kids who attended the local public schools I want to provide some info that might help people who are considering moving to Alpharetta. 1) Cost of housing has gotten crazy and you need to be careful about any HOA you might buy into. 2)Traffic is a major impact. Yes if no traffic(2 am) you can make Buckhead in a half hour. But if you live in Alpharetta you need to be realistic that it will take at least an hour going from exit 11, 10 etc down to the perimeter. If it is raining add another 30 mins. 3) It is great to raise a family in this town as there are plenty of sports, cultural events and the town has been very well run for the most part. 4)Avalon is overrated and expensive. 5)The Ameris bank Amphitheater is a fantastic venue as he indicates. 6)It has gotten crazy crowded and the local traffic will test your patience. 7)Be aware of property crime that continues to be an issue(car break in's, breaking into garages, etc). If you have a lot of money and can afford it and your commute is local than it is worth it. The convenience comes at a high price. Very glad to have moved out. Good luck.
