    So i came top four on the Saturday the classic Boba yellow list been doing some testing and i think the snapshot reflexes done day one is great i see it working so well in the aggro matchup and even against midrange sometimes letting boba become a 5/8 is nuts and sometimes crafty smuggler becoming a 3/3 shielded turn 2 is also amazing will be replacing shoot firsts for them! Also was great meeting you at the events eveyone was so nice!

      Yeah I think your analysis of why I’ve put them in was spot on.
      One of your videos actually helped me make the change, I was looking at them to help with the match up into Boba green and then in one of your videos you described shoot first as an “anti-aggro” card. I then realised I could make the switch to snapshot to help in more match ups because the deck good into aggro regardless.
      Just have to watch out for tarkintown, if that was more prominent shoot first would be more reliable.

    Hi. I was the Han Red deck. I designed it to beat the ECL decks as they had little targets against me til later rounds, by that point I’ve usually nuked their base. I’ve had loads of success with a 70% win rate on karabast. Side board is for control matches. Thanks for the video

    As a Luke player I lose a decent amount of game 1s and then come back so seeing them underperform in a best of one tourney makes sense.

    • @Thorrk_THT
      @Thorrk_THT  Před měsícem +1

      I wish this was that simple, but I think Luke green is just very poorly positioned in the meta it doesn't have any great MU,(it's ok vs aggro and Han) but it does poorly against so many decks,(vader ramp, Palpatine, hard control, boba...)
      the performance of Luke at UK game expo are abysmal.
      On each tournament:
      day 1 40% win rate
      day 2 31% win rate
      and even on day 3 with bo3 23% win rate
      I hope to be wrong.

      @@Thorrk_THT I think Luke player lists have to be very specific against control. There are some really good Luke's player like the giy who made it third at a 5k and now he's running some sparks main deck and a lot of them are running regional governor. The destiny riku list is awesome and it was very hard for Guy Boba blue to beat him and we had the biggest showdown in Paris with a Luke in finals running main deck governors and sparks.
      I think a lot of lists didn't adapt to those kind of ajustements (escort skuff with alliance dispatcher drop 3 is incredible too) and the deck is way harder to pilot now and require a lot of patience.

      @@Thorrk_THT I've played against this kind of lists with my Palp blue and the machup was hard. Before that, if I saw a Luke it was practicly an auto win for me. Was nice to meet you! I deviated a bit from your list for the tournament in the end but your insight was a huge help in me figuring out what deck list was right for me on the day. I agree BO1 is very much a lottery as I went 4-3 day 1 and 6-1 day 2 with the same list. Very match up dependant and sometimes initiative token was a massive factor. I was the Han green player who made top 8 on Friday. The deck has won me 4 store showdowns. I understand it lacks draw and greedo but with 1/3 of the deck being 7/8 cost cards you generally only play 1 card a turn after the Han deploy. Then your pretty much playing 2 3 drops a turn. With no 1/2 drops the 2 cards you draw each turn are more impactful. That's what I found playing the deck but I could be horribly wrong in my analysis :)

      @phoenixbkgaming2706 Před měsícem

      @Thorrk_THT ofcourse it is, I just find it more consistent not pulling the 1 and 2 drops though haha. Nothing feels worse than when your out of gas and draw a greedo plus battlefield marine.
      Even when only playing 2 3 drops your still basically paying 1 resource to draw an additional card and play 6 resources worth of units.

    I’ve played Boba yellow since the beginning of set 1 bc I didn’t get 3 vaders til later and I saw pretty good results. I love the deck and glad to see it doing well. As the last 3 weeks though I swapped over to Boba blue and not seen a whole lot in big tournament with results. I was wondering your input if that’s bc we haven’t figured out whether it’s best to build towards a hard control vs a soft control with a good bit of units? What is your thoughts on this?

    • @Thorrk_THT
      @Thorrk_THT  Před měsícem +1

      Well I am not a boba blue expert and the deck is still very recent so I am not entirely sure, but I think it's one of those 3 things:
      - The deck is recent and also significantly harder to play than a traditional hard control list so people are still figuring out how to play it.
      - It's just a coincidence and since the deck didn't see a lot of play sample size is very small.
      - The overall higher power level of the cards are not enough to make up for the splitted gameplan, therefore the deck is simply weaker that other hard control decks.

      - 1 CoH
      - 2/3 Home One
      + 1 Gunship
      + 1 Chewy
      + 2/3 Walker
      Control:
      - 1 Leia
      - 1 Ackbar
      - 1 Gunship
      - 3 Traitorous
      - 2 Lackeys

    It's interesting, you mentioned more then once Falcon is a amazing card against Control. Why is that? From my understanding it's because of the control player has problems killing it, so you let it bounce every turn?

    • @Thorrk_THT
      @Thorrk_THT  Před měsícem

      Any unit that can attack right after being played is very good vs control because it not hard to turn it into guaranteed damage, the fact that it can bounce itself to play around superlaser blast is only icing on the cake

    Hey, Jed here, Polish player that made top cut on Saturday and Sunday.
    Thanks for your take. Couple of points from me:
    1) As you noticed, my decklist was based around control since it’s the match up that needs the most help (some deck decisions were based on b01 format ofc.).
    2) The match vs Ithiel (iden blue) was not recorded but it was a good, very close game. 1st game took over 40 min, and I went to 0 cards in deck - in the last 5 cards I had my 2 relentless (key for this match up) and firespray. Bad draw, but it of course happens, magic of card game. Still, because of time constraint, we didn’t manage to finish the second game, and my opponent won 1-0. Unlucky, we couldn’t finish match in top cut. Still, big shout to my opponent, he played well :)
    3) I see people questioning Chimaera (more or less, at least doubting it) but it’s really an amazing card. A bit to lengthy to discuss via yt comments though.
    4) On the judgement call on Sunday - I was paired against Eduardo at 4-1 for final game to get top cut when he got disqualified etc ( as you described). We still played the game to see how we would do if all these strange things wouldn’t occur and I managed to take the win( of course it was very stressful situation for him so it surely impacted his gam. Still, we wanted to check how it would go for ourselves).
    5) Lastly, re the disqualification, what’s important to mention is, judges changed the result of the second to last match after pairings for last round, which made fighting for top cut (4-1 players) uneven, since some players got matched against not not 4-1, but 3-2 or 2-3 player.
    Anyhow, it was still a great event, had a blast.
    See you on the next one!

    Man I have such a love hate relationship with Traitorous in Han Green. T1 resupply means that you can effectively T2 traitorous which is excellent value, but I wonder sometimes if that isn’t better spent elsewhere. Thinking about trading out two Traitorous for something else, but not sure what 😅

    • @Thorrk_THT
      @Thorrk_THT  Před měsícem +1

      Well no wonder why you have a love/hate relationship the way you use it is extremely risky. To make that play you would need to use han's ability back-to-back which is not a good idea in a lot of situation. Also with your line of play you can only steal an exhausted 2-drop or a exhausted 3-drop.
      I think traitorous T3 with either a resupply or han's ability used once is much better. Not nearly as big of a resource commitment and you get to steal a unexhausted 3-drop which is perfect.
      Traitorous is not an auto-include but it helps against Boba which by itself is huge. It's also a flexible answer against aggro that works on both ground and space.

  • @stropes.
    @stropes. Před měsícem

    I'm not so sure we can really conclude that Boba Yellow is the 'best deck in the game' per 1:01:40. Eight out of ten of this top-placing Boba Yellow's matchups were against either Sabine or other Bobas which it is largely favored to win anyway - even if we are ignoring the warping effects which the BO1 format will have on this too.
    This deck has some very bad matchups into a number of Control builds which are heavily represented in some of the larger metas Stateside vs what was fielded in this tournament. I think it's less a case of being 'the best' deck versus being the best deck against a Sabine/Boba field in a BO1 format specifically.
    It was obviously the correct meta call but at the end of the day, since so many decks are viable, the real test of skill is being able to correctly determine what decks will appear at any individual event and be prepared for what you'll see there specifically which this player obviously did a great job at forecasting - so, props to them!

    • @Thorrk_THT
      @Thorrk_THT  Před měsícem

      I think what makes me says that is the consistency in which the deck has been boing well in tournament since release. And the fact that the deck is still standing depsite being heavily targeted is a testament of its solidity. I don't think any other deck would do better if it was targeted the way boba is.
      My observation is a global statement, not specifcally related to those tournaments.

    • @stropes.
      @stropes. Před měsícem

      @@Thorrk_THT Love your content but disagree here.
      To say Boba Yellow is 'the best deck' it should actually be placing regularly which it's just not. When Boba Yellow has been brought to 4Ks and 5Ks Stateside it's never even made a Top 16 (not in Orlando, not in Richmond). I could be overlooking one specific build somewhere like Cardboardia, I guess, but it didn't make Top 4 there either. Saying this about Boba Green on the other hand? Maybe.
      Boba Yellow folds hard to the Control lists which placed highly in those larger events. You can even see this on Day 2 of this very same UK Game Expo where the top placing Iden deck beat two Boba Yellow decks.
      When compared to Boba Green, just based on purely on numbers, Boba Yellow doesn't even sorta come close. Worth noting here is that the only Day 2 loss which the Iden deck had at the UK tournament was to Boba Green also, not Yellow.

    • @Thorrk_THT
      @Thorrk_THT  Před měsícem

      @@stropes. in this very specific instance I was talking about boba in general not specificaly boba yellow.
      and btw it not because boba yellow has not done very well in the past that it cannot be the "best deck", the meta has changed and it's very possible that boba yellow is currently the most well rounded deck atm.
      But I agree this is not clear and if boba yellow has the advantage it not by a lot.
