I noticed this when they took down circular. Circular was really powerful, but it was also very restrictive, I had been playing the game casually, and I just didn't see cyberse. Konami changed set order in MD to do something interesting.
They released the Ishizu Cards before Tear and made a different meta with Chaos Mill.
But now for some reason instead of releasing things like Melodious, Zarc Support and normal Fire Kings they just speedrunned Snake Eyes release to make everyone suffer because none of the decks on the meta can compete and we end with different flavors of the same deck.

Glads, Teledad, Nekroz, Zoo, Spyral, and Tear never got emergency banned. Neither did other top decks that never quite made tier 0 and were absolutely worse to play against than any of the tier 0 decks, like Pendulum Magician FTK, Danger Darkworld FTK, Gouki U-link/Gumblar hand loop, dark warrior turboing into Rhongo, Azathot turbo using the PK RUM, S0 turno, etc. Emergency lists aren’t the norm and never have been. The most recent one happened after a deck had numbers that only Zoo and maybe Ishizu Tear and Spyral could eventually match, while setting up end boards that were beyond degenerate for the time. In the TCG they set up CDI while having old pendulum mechanics that guaranteed follow up, and in the OCG they still had Shock Master.

Snake eye just needs fewer ways to recover and then it's fine. If you out an entire board and then they establish another with a one card combo through multiple disruptions that's a bit much. Each starter in that deck just has too much recursion and individual power. Poplar and flamberge getting limited would make it a bit better imo as those are the two that generate the most value individually.

Yugioh has hit critical mass of power creep. I don’t even know how they would fix it. Since tearlaments, we’ve been through kashtita and snake eyes all format where rogue was impossible at the highest stage.
This is what happens to a card game with no rotation after 25 years.
Magic at least has different formats many of which get continued product support.
Just like humans will blow ourselves up after we reach a certain technological point, I believe Konami has hit the point of no return. Any product they release will need to be able to beat snake eyes, Kashtira, and branded.

Yugioh does ban problem cards though. Cards like Linkross, Knightmare Goblin, and Gumblar lasted a single format before getting hit on the next ban list.
The issue with SE is sorta the same as with Tear in that it’s hard to pick a single hit that actually makes the deck reasonable, unless you’re fine with just killing the deck outright. The deck can’t function without Poplar since it really needs the extra body. Banning OSS frankly doesn’t do enough since you still have Bonfire and Ash at 3. Banning Ash obviously just kills the deck. Same with banning Flamberge. I think the best way to address it would be to ban Princess and IP, but I don’t even know if that’s enough. I don’t see how they end on anything worth caring about with either of those two, but I was also in the camp that thought eviscerating their end board would make the Fire King variant more popular and look how that went.

That's issue when quick effects and recursion spam are THAT abundant throughout the deck's design, and Konami's response to the meta is seemingly, "can we break another game-mechanic with this deck, to replace the other deck we broke?"
And the answer is always "no." The best deck always needs to be taken out to the woodshed every format now just to get new cards in rotation, and it feels so predatory to the player-base.

      actually half true
i play evil twin till today in MD
yes u have something like 15 starters in it and ca 15 handtraps BUT evil twin only end up (in best case) on conti spell burn 200 per summon and 1 interruption w sunny split into both twins (1 pop 1 draw) u need in evil twins the handtraps that the deck even function
while on SE (optimal board) u end up on 2 omnis 4 monsternegate, 1 princess pop, plus resource gain from poplar and ash, plus battle protection from linkuriboh (aleast in MD where this stuff is legal) plus all ur handtraps
yes both decks are handtrapwise simular but 1 got even wo handtraps 7+ interruptions while the other has 1
      unpopular opinion
i think SE isnt that bad overall, what makes it so bad is A) the abuse of all the generic ED boss monsters and B) the banlist that is clearly designed to protect SE. play full power turn0 able tear ishizu (that imo is fun because it breakes the u do ur stuff and i do my stuff gameplay and morphs it into a very interactiv gameplay where both players are able to play and enjoy the game while SE is just exchange handtraps ad stopping ur opponent from playing, imo ishizu tear was the peak of interacting w each other in modern ygo) vs SE and u see hat tear will wipe the floor w SE same goes fĂŒr nearly every decent archetype
banlist that would help (and i say this since ca 2weeks into SE in MD)
      - ban princess
      - limit 1 flameberge
      - ash to 2
      - wanted to 1
      - bonfire to 1 (reinforcement a extremly simular card is aswell on 1)
      - both ishizu millers to 1
      - both ishizu suffler banned
      - merli to 1
      - card of demise to 1 or 2
this would make other decks stronger like tears while keep them still balanced (shufflers are imo a bigger problem as the millers) (card of demise was only banned because deck like runick abused them but all this decks are rouge tier now) and nerfed SE into a state where its still playable but not that oppressiv
but konami wouldnt do that because as u said they arnt intressted in balancing they only intressted into money

While I do understand the hope of "banning Baronne and Borreload will open up design space for new types of end board pieces", it has to be understood that this will ONLY happen if Konami OCG follows suit. They are the ones who design the vast majority of elements of the game. While, of course, we do not have any proof of this because Konami never communicates with is, the OCG R&D teams may look at Baronne and Borreload and think "No, we think these are fine." And will then continue to design new cards and archetypes with the understanding that decks will be able to summon these monsters, and that is completely okay by them. Because we don't have access to them, when we eventually receive these new cards, they are so much harder to justify using because the payoffs for using them that we have available just may not be worth it. And if they're not worth using, then they're just another huge waste of translation work and materials. It's the same reason why Pendulum archetypes do so poorly over here; it's because they're built over there with the existence of Heavy Metalfoes Electrumite in mind, a critical piece for the mechanic that we just do not have.
Now, I don't necessarily hate the idea of banning Borrel and Baronne(I have a lot more to say about the topic but that's best saved for another place), calling it an immediate win for the future card design is making a lot of assumptions. If anything, it should be another reason to rally for a total unification of both formats, so this doesn't even have to be something to doubt.

If "the fix" to the Tear-Ishizu deck being problematic was to limit every relevant card in the deck to 1 copy, then what the hell was Konami doing banning anything that wasn't specifically a Snake-Eye card? Shouldn't Snake-Eye receive the same treatment? I have become convinced that someone very high up at Konami holds sway over the banlist and is the one who designed the Snake-Eye archetype, hence why not a single Snake-Eye card has even seen a "limited to one" status, never mind being banned.

The only other solution to this is set rotation but God forbid anyone try that. I give a lot of credit to people who stomach this but at what point do you say am I actually enjoying this game or am I doing it out of necessity because I've invested too much time money and friendships into this game and you're too afraid to move on? I know that sounds pessimistic and you don't want to hear that but as someone who left the scene still watches the content I still have friends who are part of the scene I just don't talk about it anymore. Your friends are your friends because they like you not because you have something in common. You can always find new hobbies that can facilitate this need but to bring it back to the beginning unless they change the game drastically this is going to be a continuous pattern where hitting generic extra deck stuff doesn't do anything anymore because their deck design is just so bad. Because if you think that this is not going to be a problem again after snake eye gets hit in a matter of months there is going to be probably yet another tier zeroed format within the year mark my words
