  • I did not take video of it but I closed the gap at the bottom of the wear plate with the flapper mod. So the tolerances are tight for the auger around the wear plate.

      I'm familiar with the LX255. It uses the same attachment parts as the GT225 with the lever lift and manual lift kit. Check the JD parts site and you should see the implement diagram of the parts you need.

    If you want to make a huge improvement in handling wet snow (like we have often in Nov-Dec. here downstream of Lake Erie)- add another "Paddle" between each stock paddle.
    I was low on steel stock, so I just made tabs to take 4 layers of semi mud flaps bolted on, I also extended the stock paddles with steel welded on.
    I was on yt and noticed the later Simplicitys had 4 paddles instead of 2. Hmm.
    My old Broadmoor is a beast now, what I think happens is the chute is kept flowing steadier by having 4 slugs of snow going through instead of 2. Mike

    The reason you needed to grind off that part, is that the bearing "cradles" should be mounted with carriage bolts - not hex bolts. Notice the cradles have square holes :-)

      @@Bassguitarist1985 Nice restoration :-)
      If you ever need more throwing length - just install a smaller belt pulley on the auger shaft.
      You will also need to reduce belt length to accomodate the new pulley size.
      Remember to always be at idle speed + make sure no snow is stuck in the auger before engaging it, or else you will put a lot of strain on the drive drain.
      The auger is heavy, and there is a lot of mass that moves from stand still to fast spinning in a short time!
      I have a chain drive on mine, and reducing the size of the auger shaft sprocket from a 40 tooth to a 34 tooth seriously increased throw length!
      Mine went from barely clearing snow off the side of the blower, to throwing 12+ feet :-)

      +davidsherri The pins don't come on the tractor from the factory. It should come with the installation parts kit for the snowblower that you have. The rear pins are part# M126571 for the spacers and the cap screw is part# 19M7331 which the size is a M12 X 65. You need two of each. Is that what you are referring to?

      No, sorry, but to remove it just need to loosen the set screws on the two locking collars, then remove the large pulley from the axle held in by locking bolts, and the axle should slide across and out. the auger is HEAVY so be careful. Sorry just seeing this comment now.

    • @karuza82
      @karuza82 Před 3 lety

      Also if it's not too late to do you good thing to know is that the bearing collars are eccentric. At first glance collar looks like it uses 2 set screws. It doesnt. The other hole is used to lock the inner race of bearing to shaft. Collar needs to tighten in the direction of shaft rotation. Use a drift pin(punch) to tighten collar then tighten set screw.
