Bwhahaha!!! This deserves soooo much more love my dude!! You are so stubborn/patient, reminds me of something I would do! haha I love how well thought out each title is!!
Okay but now I'm imagining a Skyrim bandit. I am behind him. One of my arrows sticks out of his left boot. Sensing danger, I use the greatest of the many powers I have aquired as the chosen one: I crouch-walk. The camera leaves me and zooms in on his perspective. A prompt appears: "press R to rationalize." Over his face appear a whale, a snake, and a bear. When he chooses the correct shape, the camera returns to me, bow still drawn. "Must have been the wind," he says.
Arcadletra was such a dreamlike game. It really felt like a weird childhood dream that's terrifying in the moment, but afterwards you cannot explain to your parents why you were so scared of being in an arcade trying to save a polygonal lady from an electrified rotisserie chicken that made cat yowling noises at you.
26:08 Solipsis notes: pretty sure the orbiter hit a UFO, the fact that the protagonist wasn't more accurate with the numbers does point to it possibly being a dream, and solipsis seems to be a reference to the word solipsism, which seems to be an existential philosophy that a person is only sure that they exist - thus further pointing to it possibly being a dream. 1:12:45 the binary translates to: "Trapped I may yet be, but my disciples walk where I can not. 3/12/1/13/15/18" Perhaps this cult is related to the PT Barnum cult from _The_ _Thing_ _in_ _the_ _Lake_ ? 1:32:48 the max length of a blue whale is approximately 30-ish meters, meaning (what I currently assume to be) -squidward- cthulu is about the size of 6 blue whales, or roughly 650 feet long.
Yes solipsis. Mostly the game reference is to the astronauts. They have states of mind in space. Being solipsistic, dread, paranoia, isolation. It can be said the player was the dreamer who in the end lost his sanity/death => end of dream. Or it is the moon wanabe azatoth. But who says the dreamer wouldnt dream his death? Only to dream other dream? Solipsism is very interesting philosophy. Yet it is double edged sword of madness.
29:07 you should check Panstasz's game "world of horror", a rpg roguelike highly inspired by Itou Junji and H.P Lovecraft where you resolve mysteries in a world that is very close to be doomed by the elder gods, the graphics and gameplay are very close to "the thing in the lake" you could actually treat that game in dread x as another mystery in WoH
11:00 We actually know of a few features under the lunar surface. At least a few areas have water ice, there are also dikes and various igneous intrusions where there used to be volcanic activity. We actually measure it very similarly to how it's shown here, too. Satellites track extremely small fluctuations in gravity to tell where subsurface features are.
1:08:43 It's WILD how it's only been "3" years, but watching him play Another Late Night and hearing about the pandemic, the school shootings and the BLM was so weirdly nostalgic.. What a different time, and it felt like it was going to go on forever! And then it ended.. Oh, I forgot to mention THANK YOU for doing a video on this! I've been waiting for a while for someone to do one on the whole thing. I've watched people do snippets of the games in the anthology, but I was super fascinated by over arching story and all the really really awesome puzzles! I'm definitely going to be looking forward to your part 2!
You not knowing the Two Bits reference is giving me flashbacks to when Scary Game Squad played this. If you’ve seen Who Framed Roger Rabbit? you might know it and not realize. The items are hints.
You should read up on the Byford Dolphin accident, if you haven't already, which involved a diving bell and diving chambers undergoing explosive decompression due to an error by someone outside of the diving bell/chambers, which should have not been possible if proper fail-safes were in place. The result was very gory, including one of the divers being forced through a 64cm (25 inch) hole.
I remember reading about a decompression chamber accident where somebody opened the outer door and the inner door wasn't properly sealed. The result was the two people on the outside being obliterated by essentially an air-based ballistics cannon and the people inside turning from biology into chemistry. One report mentioned that they found one of the men's liver over 100 metres away from the chamber
Yea thats this same incident aha, check out the wikipedia page of Byford Dolphin, the whole diving bell and chambers went flying into the diving tenders outside and killed one@@eg_manifest510
You should check out World Of Horror It’s a horror rpg game inspired by Junji Ito, and other Japanese horror media It’s on sale since the final release was 6 days ago, and will end on Nov. 2nd It has a 1-bit style (just like The Thing In The Lake), but with plenty of customization options for palettes
10:49 - We do know of subsurface features on the Moon! Specifically, we know that the Moon has lava tubes, which are (surprise!) tube-like underground structures formed when the surface of a lava flow hardens and allows the flowing lava to drain away beneath it. These were all formed more than 1.2 billion years ago, which is when the Moon became volcanically inactive. The really cool thing about these structures is that they can be absolutely *immense* - we're talking hundreds of meters wide and kilometers long. Some are so massive that we may have detected them through the gravitational anomalies they would cause, suggesting diameters of over a kilometer. These lava tubes are also prime locations for human settlement, both for their huge size and the protection they afford from radiation, meteorites, and the extreme temperature fluctuations on the surface. Edit: And right after I unpause the video, they mention those very same lava tubes!
A small idea for any moment that you find in a similar situation (played the first game way before and finishing the rest now): you could have replayed that "greeting" the voice did before playing Squirrel Stapler, and at the moment you would place the tape to play it again you could mention that there is already a video of you playing that game and left a youtube information card (dont know the real technical name of that, i mean the one that appears on the top right of the screen when required) pointing to the video for better continuity.
It is... Almost 2am. I'm trying to fall asleep, and as I'm dozing off I find myself behind a computer screen and typing away frantically for my life. I just snapped out of it and have been sitting up in my bed for like 10 minutes wondering where the frick that half-awake nightmare just took me. The Diving Bell. It's such a vivid nightmare scenario- being isolated in space is horrifying, but being isolated in an empty underwater base knowing no one is coming to save you with only the sounds of the ocean around you, the hull settling in the pressure of the water, and heart-stopping alarms making you think whatever invisible threat you've imagined has finally made it's move on you... Every second of watching you play that part left me on increasing levels of dread and a nameless fear of paranoia assaulting the psyche so greatly. The way the game worded the main character slipping into a subtle or explosive insanity and desperation, speaking on how his opponent knows everything about him and all he can do is just... Try to escape, dead if he moves and dead if he stays. I watched this video this morning... And I genuinely might not be able to sleep tonight. This is an amazing, intense, yet terrifying feeling. Great video btw.
honestly if you want a truly terrifying or dread-inducing game, I would highly recommend Puppet Combo's Nun Massacre or Stay Out Of The House. the atmosphere of both games as well as the chases are absolutely terrifying.
I think out of all of these Arcadeletra was definitely the weakest, grating sound design, overused indie horror tropes, made absolutely no sense and was super hard to follow, kinda surprised it’s on this collection given the quality present in most of the other games

Also the First rationalize option in solipsis already has protagonist going insane.

You should check out World Of Horror
It’s a horror rpg game inspired by Junji Ito, and other Japanese horror media
It’s on sale since the final release was 6 days ago, and will end on Nov. 2nd
It has a 1-bit style (just like The Thing In The Lake), but with plenty of customization options for palettes
It's made by the same developer as The Thing in the Lake! :)
@@Carooff I had an inkling it was, but as soon as I saw the blessed chalk and holy candles I knew for certain.
Oh-
I didn’t know that somehow
But yea, it’s a fun game
And it’s moddable too
Just got home from a long trip right as a librarian video comes out. I love your videos
These were awesome, game anthologies is something I really haven’t seen done often
Your videos are criminally underrated dude. Keep it up brah!
Know what’s crazy? I literally just finished watching your squirrel stapler video when I saw you posted this today.
Yay! Been waiting for you to tackle DXC.
Did not come here expecting to learn cool space facts, but here we are!
Once again my night is better, thanks man!
It is raining here and I just finished getting ready for bed. Time for my favorite part of the day... Librarian video 👍
The Diving Bell game really reminded me of Narcosis, which I really recommend if you want more games of a similar vibe.
I do recommend that if any of these games interests you, search them afterwards, they might've gotten full/extended stand alone version.
A wild librarian appears!
Not just any librarian, THE librarian.
I love the outlast reference
That mention of Crayola 3D Castle Creator gave me nostalgic whiplash. I put so many hours into that game when I was younger.
It is...

"Daddy, would you like some sausage? Daddy, would you like some sausages?~"
I've been waiting for this!!!
🕯
The binary at 1:12:45 translates to “Trapped I may yet be, but my disciples walk where I can not. 3/12/1/13/15/18”
You should play games by Kitty Horror Show. I cant wait to watch this video
i literally just watched squirrel stapler omg

Oh the pain of watching Librarian fail to figure out the "shave and a haircut" piano puzzle XD
A new series? I love it
The Librarian: *Sees the library*
TAKE MY MONEY AND GIVE ME THE HOUSE! (2:22:56)

Solipsis really reminded me of Lifeless Planet, the only other game I know of that has a similar setting.
Can’t wait for sucker for love haha
Solipsis is a masterpiece.
I love the idea of rationalize. Works well in this short game.
The diving bell is 10/10.
20:58. The echo means there's an atmosphere
a collection of games nice
"We can't leave this room until we finish these awful games."
Ah, so we play as AVGN?

IS HE GOING TO PLAY SUCKER FOR LOVE?
hi librarian 😞😞
CHAD
Hellooo everyonneeeee
honestly if you want a truly terrifying or dread-inducing game, I would highly recommend Puppet Combo's Nun Massacre or Stay Out Of The House.
the atmosphere of both games as well as the chases are absolutely terrifying.
Uh oh I think youtube unsubscribed
i love your videos but I NEED MORE VOICE'S OF THE VOID PLSPLSPLS
I think out of all of these Arcadeletra was definitely the weakest, grating sound design, overused indie horror tropes, made absolutely no sense and was super hard to follow, kinda surprised it’s on this collection given the quality present in most of the other games
I don't know, Another Late Night seemed pretty bad. It just felt like a sloppily put together political commentary and not a horror game at all.
bruh where the Minecraft at?😭
The forced political commentary turns me away no matter how minor 1:23:05 -_-
i always fall asleep to u mane and wake up to u panicking about something or being chased
