  • Nearly ten years ago Blair Douglas went to Louisiana and played Kate Martin's Waltz at Fred's Lounge in Mamou, in the heartland of Cajun music. The sound isn't great but a wonderful event anyway. Hope you like it.

Blair's music has always been able to move me to tears, he's an amazing musician. The width of his ability is astonishing.

I've been there myself a few times - it's a great place to spend a Saturday morning if you're in Louisiana, or else there's the Saturday morning Cajun music session at Marc Savoy's shop just outside Eunice...

real music , musicians who make their instruments sing. As Blair says Scotland needs to return to the good old days that I mind - spontaneous sessions are great . Being too precise and perfect doesn't work but now I'm deaf I can feel the vibrations so its all the same now .

Sounds a lot like Cajun music in it's tone and flow ...I wonder if Blair purposely played a Cajun song , or if this was a Scottish song .

This is Blair's own composition, "Kate Martin's Waltz" played Cajun style on this occasion. He had also recorded a bluegrass version of the tune.
