Four people injured after military horses escape in London

- A number of military horses have been recaptured after coming loose and running through central London.
London Ambulance Service say their first call was around 8:30am this morning, about a person who had been thrown from a horse on Buckingham Palace road.
Four people have been injured and have been taken to the hospital.
The horses have all safely been brought under control.

Poor horses 😭 that amount of blood made me cry inside!
An average-sized horse will have more than fifty litres of blood. I know it looks gory, and just one litre of blood on the coat of a white horse looks pretty shocking - but doesn't necessarily indicate the horse is going to die.
Horses have taken multiple bullets, been stabbed multiple times and still carry humans through wars often with barely any food and water for years and survive easily, they're tough animals this isn't that bad tho it looks terrible and shouldn't happen.

The horses are back at the stable where there is a vet.

Off the BBC website "Police Constables Lucy Hawes and Daniel McKeown risked their own safety to provide first aid to the injured and anxious horses. They kept the horses calm while waiting for a horse box and veterinary team to arrive."
An Army spokesman has told the BBC:
“Our horses have all returned to Hyde Park Barracks and are undergoing veterinary care. Three soldiers are in hospital receiving treatment - their injuries are not deemed to be life threatening."
The BBC understands the fourth person injured was a cyclist and member of the public.
Do not get folks close to horses that have no clue.

I speak as a horse-lover of many decades.
I really hope the horses are all okay, but surely we need to be asking, why do us Brits insist on such archaic traditions?
Should we really put these animals through needless parade/training duties in the middle of such an immensely busy and noisy city? Let alone the defence budget we are wasting on this rubbish.
There is simply no need for horses in the military anymore. We have vehicles and weapons that rendered horses useless in terms of military use decades ago.
Save the taxpayer money and save the horses from these needless situations.
If reporter had done her research she would of seen the white horse slip into the bus, smashing windscreen n cut itself. Another horse slipped on the broken glass straight afterwards. Also a rider who was thrown was heard screaming in pain! Ambulance crew there very quickly n put screen around rider. I hope rider is ok.

It was apparently the noise of rubble being thrown down a waste chute at a building site nearby startling the horses and causing them to bolt.
Caused them to ‘Usain Bolt’ by the look of it!

That poor horse is injured too ..no comment about that…military horses are being trained to push and shove humans, totally against their instinct, and the stress just got too much when whatever it was , spooked them .
They are known to be particularly intuitive and gentle towards people… it’s a disgrace they are used like this.
Yesterday those used on St George’s Day , to what appears to be to provoke the public , looked stressed in the crowd of non violent celebrators …..Who were confused and afraid of such heavy handed behaviour from the Met Police.

They escaped from a local Military barracks, or they threw their riders off and dashed. Happens more often than people think.
Initial reports said a huge noise from builders putting Rubble down a chute. Not sure but started with the horses throwing their riders
They were near Buckingham Palace and a construction site near by, were putting concrete rubble down a large shoot, which made a loud noise and frightened the horses, causing the cavalry riders to be thrown off.
These horses are trained to be desensitised to many things, but concrete going down a shoot was not one of them…….
