Happens to us all the time. We hunt Public all the time. You did what we do
Thanks for watching! I think it’s best to just cut your losses and move on…
They were probably new hunters, I remember when I was first introduced to water fowl too much adrenaline running through those vains lol, as per what you did I think is the right choice, never know the out come of something like taht.
Idk if they were new or not, but they ruined it for everyone that day including themselves
What’s wrong with a ring neck?! I love em!
Not a thing!
Subbed because we drove past you in Arkansas this morning! Awesome channel!
Hey thanks for the support!!
Confused a ringer for a can 😂 must be really itchy to get one. Cans are huge compared to a ringer.
You can’t tell it in the video but there was about 5 cans with them. I missed and hit the ringer 🤦🏻♂️🤣
I would never confront someone over skybusting. I also give benefit of doubt and don't consider the ocassional shots over 40yds skybusting. It might be the one time that week they are able to go out and their only oppurtunity is at 45-50yds. If I'm in their shoes I'm probably taking the shot too. Consistent sky-busting as you described is a whole different thing. It is a big problem and has seemed to be on the rise. Not only does it educate birds for difficult hunting, but it also increases cripples that would otherwise be returning to the breeding grounds for the next year.
Exactly.. no these guys were sky busting.. to the point that the birds were so far out of range when they would shoot they wouldn’t even flair…
Yes I had it happen to me and daughter we did the same thing you did packed it up and left yal did the right thing it is not worth having a conflict when guns are involved
Exactly! Unfortunately skybusting is always a problem on public land
Yes
Thanks for watching
Yes sir I would love for y’all to come hunt with us here in Tennessee sometimes or me and my daughter come hunt with yal keep up the good work buddy love the videos
I appreciate the invite! And I really appreciate the support!
Thats like a everyday thing in SC unfortunately
That sucks
What grass material and colors do you use on your boat blind.thanks
I use rafia grass, I have 2 videos on my boat blind on my channel that you can check out, one is a blind build video and the other is kinda like a walk through video
The reason I’m trying not to hunt public anymore. I’ve seen it too many times. Showing up just before shooting hours, shooting at birds that you spent the time working in and they are 100 yards or less. Set up 2 hours before shooting light after spending the time to scout just to see that is the most annoying part of public land hunting. I still get my good days too though.
Public can be stressful at times that’s for sure
@@BlackBeltWaterfowl and some days it’s absolutely incredible. I’d much rather someone come up to me and ask to hunt with me rather than we step on each other toes. The day is always better that way and it’s a good way to make new friends. We are all in it for the same reason, to have a good time and hopefully bring some food home with a good story.
Exactly right
Appreciate your content and education. I 100% agree with 40 yards tops. Anyone can go out and sky bust. Talented hunters can get ‘em in close.
That’s right, thanks for watching
The last time we had to deal with sky busters we didn't say a thing the first couple of times they did it (more than 50-60yds). About the 3rd or 4th time I yelled at them to stop sky busting and the blind on the other side of them yelled to "let the birds work". They must have understood because it ended. They stayed another hour or so but never shot at anything out of range after that. I've said it before on other channels, that it needs to be mentioned for the newbies watching, that all shots are less than 35-40yds and most are at less than 30yds. We set our farthest decoy at 30yds for reference because we have new hunters in our blind occasionally and it gets them in the frame of mind of acceptable shot range.
I may have to try that next time! Thanks for sharing!
Good video as always Alan. I have ran into this and have confronted the shooters. I have explained to them that they are making cripples that they may not recover and had to count those to their limit. And was costing them a lot of money with just shooting shells. And if they would let them come closer they would get better kills. And just be respectful to the wildlife and other hunters.
Now as for cans they are big birds, they look like flying turkey's compared to the size like teal lol. You may not of liked the Ringbill but any bird in the pan is better then a wish sandwich, wish you had some duck meat between 2 pieces of bread lol. And they all taste good. I think you should try shooting some coots and then grind up the breast and make coot chili, it is really good. I know a lot of people look down at those birds but they do eat the same stuff as the ducks lol.
I do worry about you and the family when i see that bad weather hitting your State. And i always pray to God that he keeps a great youtuber safe so his words of wisdom can be spread. Take care young man and God bless. Capt. Rick
Thanks for the kind words!! It’s been tuff down here thankfully we dodged the bad weather… but barely…
From the Great Northwest public Duck Blind, well Alan yes it happens a lot, I do not hunt the weekends anymore, and I take a trash bag to the marsh now, so I can clean up other people's shells and cartridges and boxes and their lunches, yep Sky busting at fish ducks and everything else that flies High Enough by them that they cannot decoy, or call in, so yes I get your frustration, we keep it up we won't have these lands for long, God bless from the northwest, cleaning up other people's stuff
It’s people like that, that will ruin it for everyone.. thanks for watching
My 10 gauge sxs I use for geese and sometimes ducks I can hit at 60at least and I have had people coming up to me starting stuff for no reason and my buddy called the law and boy did they run scared
Haha thanks for watching
You can’t get them closer than 60?
58 is the distance cuzz I got built in extra full chocks in both barrels and I'm using hand loads mixed with two different kind of shot in three and a half inch high brass 10-gauge
@@general-Lee-700 How's your shoulder feeling? I know a good chiropractor.
🤣
Just about every trip. One trip I finally yelled wtf! They 200 yds high. They packed up and left. I stayed all day and somehow managed 1 shy of a limit
I may have to try that….
Me and two other guys went crane hunting in a A frame blind and we had the same thing happen to us .Two other guy set up 100 yards from us just started shooting before the crane where in range. Cutting off the birds before they could even get to anyone. Smh
There always seem to be guys like that, thanks for watching
@@BlackBeltWaterfowl No problem .
I enjoy watching your videos I’m new to duck hunting public land in Texas and duck hunting. So lm learning.
We have the same problem here in the UK on the salt marshes , as someone said the odd long but in range shot is part of the fun of wildfowling but there's a big difference between that and out of range shooting . You'd think after a box of shells for nothing they'd get the message . We don't have the fish and game officers over here , what do they do , if anything , about blatantly out of range shooting ??. A pity your hunt spoilt but you can only be responsible for your behaviour not that of loonies , good luck .
That’s right thanks for watching
I think you should have approached these guys. Not in a confrontational way, but in an educational way. There's a good chance that they were either young and overeager, or they were newbies who had little knowledge of the abilities of their shotguns. Or themselves for that matter.
Yea you just never know what kind of people you will run into, and how they will react
As you said its public land...some folks think they are entitled to everything...even if they arrived later than others. You said you were not really smacking them anyway - go somewhere else. Not worth the confrontation
No it’s not at all…
Where were you hunting I’m here in Memphis ….. just got back from Wynne Arkansas smacked em good
I dont share the places I hunt, I pride my self in finding and killing ducks on public land, that’s hard enough by itself, so I’m sure you can understand why I don’t share what states I hunt etc. thanks for watching!
@@BlackBeltWaterfowl I respect that brother I like your videos just found your channel last night
Hey I appreciate you watching!!! Thanks for the support! I’m on my last trip of the season right now, trying to finish strong!!
@@BlackBeltWaterfowl yes sir me too going after them specks this Thursday then ducks again Friday and Saturday
I heard that! Good luck to you!
