Thankful for the info on the primary attack effecting summons, this is awesome news. However, the 2pc Shal'baas dip doesn't beat 6pc Shepard's mathematically.
(Edit:) 15%dmg vs (60% atkspd 12 sec every 40 seconds (30% up time) =18% DMG boost)

So I'm assuming Primary attack speed also works for summons then.?
@@2005BigBob based on what I'm seeing here, yes, it should translate to summons as well.
When you get spd orbs/buffs I do notice it affects the summons the same way. Stands to reason.
I shocked u did not no this I had this set up since start of the game on my necro. Also how is this hidden ? It’s basic game knowledge just because u didn’t notice doesn’t mean it’s hidden
It should be noted that this is for the summon attacks that are coded as primary attacks. Things like the golem jump/roll, the throwing golem, the laser mages, the skeletal captain spin, and the burn on fire golem do not get boosted by this.
Interesting. The damage % mage shoulders would be great with this build. You can then skip specialized minions and go for %dam modifiers as well as summon duration etc.

Yes, if you're a Necro, go all in on primary attack damage. Even in legendary essence. Chances are great

It is surprising that you don't know this as a necro main.... your summons inherit all of your atk, atk speed, and crit bonuses. Anything that increases your atk dmg will boost the summon, which include gear, gems, paragon trees, flat gems, etc.

I remember telling you about this on your livestream a few weeks ago. Glad you finally got around to testing it out and making a video about it.
This was actually something they changed because shaalbas set always worked on minion damage but primary attack damage from legendaries and such didn't however currently all primary attack damage increases goes on your summons that attacks. Basically you're looking for Primary attack and Crit % on your weapon, helm, shoulder and offhand when possible and for the 3rd crit damage %
CZcamsr VK already test this already in one of his video, he's a Necro too!

That has been long known before: the summons' primary attacks also enjoy the benefit. Thus, many recommend that Necromancers should use 4 shepherd + 2 shal baas. However, I go 6 shepherd for the insane burst damage to nuke enemies asap. There is another benefit of this 6-shepherd build: after you get purple orbs, your CD are refreshed and your new summons can burst instantly.

Summons have always scaled their primary attack damage off your primary attack damage. This has been known since launch. Reforge Primary attack damage also boosts summons, but P&C legendary gem does not. Not sure why the inconsistency, but it's blizzard.

yeah its what I use, primary attack helm, weapon, shield, reforges, and summons damage, damage to demons, i do 30-40% total damage in world boss
Don't forget the bottled hope double dip on summons when you use bone armor
Interesting. It’s probably a damage loss vs frenzy atk speed dark curse however. Especially if you boost everything with primary attack damage.

Greqt video as always. Im just a little surprised you didn't know this earlier. My friends and i used to discuss about this before the update. Idk when maybe from last update, just like when you reforge a skill damage boost, your golem and your mage beam and bone spikes damage increased. But i don't used Necro for over 2 months now so it don't bother me anymore 😀

No all skill dmg increase does not work.
"All Skill" is deceiving wording. It does not apply to your primary abilities, but rather your secondary abilities.

That is how you I build a character And it is always been there but but everyone has priorities for res and cr I use chaos nexus pants awaken take a big hit in cr for a 1 star berserker eye adds 16%+10% +30%= 56% for one piece not including gem resonance 2% and 2% from magic affix witch is 4% added in to so 60

Lol I’ve been telling y’all primary DMG increases summon DMG. Mine can hit for 43k, 80-90k crits. Of course with bloody reach, command and carrsen w/2 piece shal, 4 piece shepherds

Iv tried a few variations but for dps. I find dark curse mage skells and bone armor 6 shep with skullveil,covet nothing, synods, guided by maggots,priecehammer, twin vestige
This is insane dps I ain't a whale I have like 1200 res abd this boosted my damage no end. I felt weird loosing my golem for (what I thought was a none skill) but dark curse causes them to frenzy which works eith shep 6
Thanks! I get this will increase damage, however I cannot keep my mages alive it seems, I summon them and just about as fast as I summon them they drop to the ground by the attacker, so increase damage is great if you can keep them alive....:)
I've never had this issue unless I summon them in the path of say the main boss in FT and her red bats she summons then my mages will drop immediately after they get hit by one but if you take a extra couple 10ths of a second to make sure u summon ur mages out of melee range especially if ur dealing with elites that are heavy hitters also if still an issue u always have bone armor.
Mages are probably one of the most powerful summons in the entire game so they will always be pretty fragile, cause it'd be unfair if they could take golem damage

I haven't seen this video. i've had tons of people leave comments saying " I was the one who told you", because i've been told about this dozens of times and finally tested it. I've consistently always given credit. You are trying to start drama where there is none.

Couple of notes:
Shal’bass set is a 15% constant bonus compared to the burst damage per second of 60% atk speed for 12 seconds every 40 seconds which is approximately equivalent.
Reforge bonuses shouldn’t be rolled for PvE content unless you’re a gigawhale with multiple primary armors when swapping content.
Keeping in mind the previous point, the best bonus to have seems to be vengeance which has a game breaking buff of 100% increased dmg FROM EVERYTHING for 1 second which also would apply to summons.
The biggest takeaway from this video is that Blizz needs to add a DPS interface similar to the damage tracker for open world bosses because the effort put into this video was a Herculean task that should have taken 2 minutes at a skill dummy.
My build 4 windloft + 2 shalbaas insane damage 20% dmg w/15% movespeed + 15% primary attack more versatile than 4 sheperd

I've been using 2 shalbaas, 4 shep for a while. I call it my power build. I did it intuitively, not as scientific as you did.
As a peripheral note, while Blizzard is increasing our storage space some day soon, I hope they also double our build space/armory space. It too is simply insufficient.

@jsison1991 for the necro. Grim scythe makes all DOT damage trigger immediately. So you have a bone pillar, dark curse, bleed bone spikes and then hit something with grim scythe it does huge damage
Mine was MUCH higher. I had all the primary, and everything you could. my skellys turned out hiting 7-8k. And the reaper was at 46k his crits were at 130k.
The game got so easy and boring that i switched lol
Hey DM, this has been around for some time now but since you now discovered the 4pc shep 2pc shal bas, test this build out and I promise you, you will never use anything else for dungeons
Helm - visitant’s sign
Shoulders - synoid’s anointing
Chest - flickering warmth
Pants - graven bulwark
Main hand - desolatoria
Off hand - welcome end
Skills - bone armor, skeletons, skeletal mage, golum
The continual damage you deal with bone armor spikes and being able to keep golum up 100% will be a game changer, I know you’ll want to buff the skeletons and extend the duration on the grim reaper mages but trust the build above and you’ll have your eyes opened even wider.
The summon duration mage helm and %damage for each mage shoulders is also a great combo. Generally will have 2-3 of them up. With the legendary essence upgrades for me it’s currently 16-24% damage to everything.
Visitant's sign is the worst helm you can use Duration increase is horrible on the golem, you wanna use the duration increase on mages via skull veil.
Golem being down for a few sec isn't that big of a deal but having more duration then it's cooldown is horrible as the ability button is inactive, you can almost have no golem downtime anyways with cooldown reduction on a few set pieces and assuming you're not a whale you probably use freedom & devotion which will on its own make the golem a 100% uptime.
