hey my lovelies, thanks to Lucy over on my Instagram who requested that I make this a video .. In this video am showing you how I used the pigments Coade, Terracotta and a made up Turquoise to just have fun no matter the abstract outcome. I am using Jesmonite and pigments supplied by Polysil:
www.polysil.co.uk/
I will be doing a video soon on creating colours from scratch and the mixes needed for colours such as Khaki and Coral etc ...
Thank you all so much for the love on my last video. I was utterly overwhelmed with the response and your support.

Heyyy Claudette .. thank you so much ! ohh... that really would be lovely :)
You keep getting better and better. I love these. They’re very 60s & 70s looking. I’d say mid-century, but this style came a little later. Claire, Claire, Claire these trays are just too cute.

Hi Claire, I loved the this video and the way the trinket trays turned out. The turquoise really adds a pop to the tray. Waiting to try as soon as I get my Jesmonite. Enjoy the weekend.❤️❤️❤️🌸🌸👏🏼👏🏼🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thanks so much! 😊 really glad you love these honestly you will love it I am sue xx
These are so cool and the colour combo is just gorgeous. As for other colour combo ideas I think different shades of blue together with gold would look awesome on a black base. Really loving these abstract trays. Great job xx
Thank you so much Annie ! ohhhh yes Blue and Gold would be amazing ! xx
This has a 80s retro feel about it.. I would do it in pink and black.. Love this
thanks so much ... oh it really does ! pink and Black would look amazing :)
Oh wow I’m loving all these new artistic designs you can make with the resin, the designs you can come up with are endless! These look so good, they sell these exact trays in Kmart here in Australia, not same design as yours but they use the same mould. They are very popular here. These look amaxing!
Omg do they babe ?? that is so amazing .. I need to find a store here that sell them haaaa glad you love em xxx
I just love ur videos and the time u say i just love it, i was like hey u just stole my words..😂
thank you so much xxx :) ha
I experimented making coasters with mosaic tiles,l placed the tiles into the mould using double sided tape to stop them from moving then covered them with the Jesmonite, had to sand them a little bit they turned out great, love the abstract 😍
That sounds so so cool Janet ! so glad you love the abstract too x
Great trays hun. Purple and blue would be my choice but I guess you already know that lol. Thanks for sharing, I'm still learning loads about jez
ahhhh thanks girl .. yes yes I would have known Purple haaaa Purple and Black would look amazing
It is truly fabuleus. Specialy like the sweating ergens. It gives a little more deffinition.
Thank you so much Sonia ... yes they really do define the edges for sure :)
The sweat lines look amazing almost anamated x
They really do add to it don't they xxx thank yooo xxx
They look so great I want to get turquoise down!!!
Heyyyyy Melissa, it is one drop of Blue to two drops Green xxx do teeny tiny tiny drops xxx
Can't wait for my no spend month to be over so I can try jesmonite!
Ahhhh I hear ya ... now that I have quit my ob I am on a no spend life haaaaaa
Love them! I think I would do the black splashes first and then the circles. So you would get the splaches over the circles. I dont know if that would work though.
ohhh that is such a good idea ! thank you xxx I made some trays yesterday and the Black went down first looked great x
there awesome
colour combos bright red/light bleu
chocolate brown/light bleu
black/bright red
black/light bleu
for a few colour combos
Thank you so much Jeanne :) they are gorgeous colour combos !
wonderful video!!! do you think this would work with plaster of paris?
Looks amazing! I have tried it right away and waiting now for the results. The only thing what I have noticed lately the I am using Jesmonite, is that I have a lot of bubble in the back of the shapes. I mix it quite well, also with a kitchen mixer now for the big quantities. But could it be because it is mixed with the kitchen mixer?
Heyyyyy Sanne ... yes it could be the kitchen mixer ... but I always get bubbles in the backs ... just have to blow them out as best you can x
LOVE it max!!!!! for the pattern colors that you recommend to make them thick, you still mix at 1 : 2.5 ratio ??
heyyy lovely .. I mix at 1:2.5 then add a bit more powder ha ha so I dont exactly know the ration used probably more like 2.6 i just add powder until it feels thicker x
Love you’re energy , 🥰
I just have a question on jesmonite and which one to use, ac100 or 730 :)
heyyy Maree, it really depends what you want to use it for. AC730 is great for candles and outdoor pots and AC100 is perfect for internal decor xx
Loved the design 😍😍🤩 do you use varnish or resin to finish the trays?
Thank you .. I use Jesmonite Sealant x
Just did something close to your design and I love it! But I had few problems my mold feels like it isn’t balanced and I also got holes in it (any tips on how to get rid of it) please?
heyyy lovely .. when you say not balanced ? is it because your surfaces are not fully flat ? i would try and get your surfaces flat for sure they should not be that unbalanced x for the holes i would just pour a small amount and shake the mould well .. do not lift the mould up just shake it on table
I wish we had jesomite in the states. Coloring cement is an absolute pain!
I really wish you guys had it too ... you could try the equivalent you guys have something called AQUA Resin
Im new here and i looovvve your work!!! Thanks for sharing. What is the colouring that you use though?
Heyyyy Georgia, thank you so much ! xxx the colouring is Jesmonite pigment xx
You replied 🥰 thank you !!!
Do you think i can use these colours on resin or concrete because its so pigmented?
@claire?? can you tell us the difference between concrete and jesmonite? what works better? what is more expensive, what are the pros and cons? Really would like to hear from you as i am not sure yet what to buy! Thank you so much for all your kind videos! Learning a lot :)
hey lovely ... I think KG for KG Jesmonite would be more expensive ... but I guess it depends where you get your concrete from .. I have only used cement a couple times and still prefer Jesmonite x
@@ClairesCraftyCorner ❤ And why do you prefer jesmonite? Im sorry to ask so many questions! 🌸 sending much love from the Netherlands!
@@jenniferkleve3794 ask away ... lol it mixes easier .. pours better ... and is much easier to clean as it is Bio Degradable ... Cement literally sets in the bottom of the bowl even with tonnes of water
So if the consistency is thin it’s ok to add just a little more powder to get the thicker consistency?
Heyyyy Tammy, adding more powder or more liquid does actually weaken the product. However, becaue the main body of the tray was the correct ration of 1:2.5 the trays are strong enough. I would not change the ratio for the main body of the piece ... but I feel like the splashes were ok being a bit thicker with extra powder. You can actually buy a thickening agent to make the jesmonite thicker without weakening it x but I have not bought it x
i like your work very much Can you tell me what color you use?
thank you so much lovely xxx I used the Jesmonite pigments, Coade, Terracotta Blue and Black x
Hi!! Will it be the same result if i use cement? Theres no jesmonite here in guam 😔 can u make a video using cement?
Heyyyy Lora .. It can be done using cement yes. I did a Halloween one using similar technique. x
Awesome 😍😍 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍which one do you use? I found 3 shapes and different usage area from each other.
heyyy lovely thank you .... which one as in mould ?
@@ClairesCraftyCorner awe sorry i meant terrazo. 2 days ago i found rhe right ac 100 and ordered . U gave me inspire thank you ❤️🍀✌🏻
Btw sorry i saw ur message late 😔 i was overworking 🤗
These are gorgeous!!
I've started having reactions when using resin so really excited to try jesmonite. Thanks so much for your informative videos.
Can jesmonite be used to make candles/candle holders do you know?
Hey Jo .. thanks so much ! sorry you are reacting to Resin .. it is only a matter of time before we all do I am sure x Yes you can make candles from Jesmonite .. AC730 is best x
Love I'm 💖
thank you so much Pamela xx
Hi!
is the pigment you use based on alcohol or water?
hey lovely, these are water based acrylic colours that work best x
do you seal them?
Heyyyy lovely .. they do not need sealing no. The only reason to seal Jesmonite is if it will become wet at some stage ... I personally seal them anyways ... but know that you do not need to x
These are a great concept claire I like the overall effect but there just not my colours I have a aversion to anything remotely green sorry but I do like them diy weddings choice of colours now I would love those hun, has itvsunk in yet about being your own boss or still feeling a little strange ? Xx take care xx
Thank you so much PS ... ohhh it is still very very surreal !! like as soon as I sit down ... I jump back up again feeling guilty that I should be working ... so I might really need to work out a daily rota of what I will be doing .. so Today is the first day I am going to start planning between 8am and 9am every morning I will reply to all comments ... then I will get on with my daily jobs ... I need to write lists and some kind of schedule so that come 6pm I dont feel bad for sitting down ! haaaaaaaa sorry for the essay
x xxx
@@ClairesCraftyCorner dont be sorry it's nice to know how you doing and what your thinking is I think like you say need to do some lists and work out a routine that works for you but dont feel bad if things go off piste it will evolve as time goes on as you will become more accustom to it and things will begin to flow better for you but dont worry it will settle down and you will find the right balance I'm sure of it, if anyone can make this work it's you claire so I wish you all the luck in the world xxx
I’ve been trying to make coasters but they turn out uneven. They’re a bit wiggly. What am I doing wrong?
heyyyy lovely ... oh no ... when you say wiggly ? what do you mean ? Maybe more tapping is needed ?
@@ClairesCraftyCorner thank you for replying. I love your videos. Like when I demold them they don’t stand straight. If I push on one side the other side raises up
@@allthingsroula5197 oooo I see ... that could be one of two things ... your moulds are slightly off ... or your surface is slightly off xxx I cannot think of any other reason xxx
How did you sanding your products?
hey lovely, I only sand the sharp edges on these and I use a nail file x
@@ClairesCraftyCorner ok and what kind of sealer did you use?🙏🏻
@@Loomy_handmade I use the Jesmonite sealer xxx
Gi Clare have you figured out how to seal with no streaks yet?
heyyyy lovely .. yes I use a cheap kitchen sponge now and it works well x
Claire how do I email you ?
Heyyyy Jeanette... my e mail is in my about section ... or you can DM me on insta
clicked on the link and three vids came up but none said anything about sealing
Hey Vicki are you looking for a sealing video ?
