Minimize hot tools (hairdryer - use cool setting)
I tried it all. Got I slight relieve. But what made a huge difference is using any moisturising oil on scale before showering keep for 30 min (I mix 4 tbsp of olive oil +2 tbsp of avc). Apply on Hair And scalp, shampoo then apply conditionner only on hair length then rinse, then apply a rinse of (2 tbsp avc + 1 tsp of baking soda+ 2 cups of filtred water) on scalp while massaging and keep for a minute rinse with water apply again conditionner on hair length the rinse it et voilà at least 2 days itchy scalp free.
I think I may need a head & body reset, but thank you, I think you just saved me about $100/year. I have gotten tremendous relief from a glycolic scrub for my scalp (oil beads, not nut shells or plastics), and using a lactic-acid forward aha serum on my armpits & underbosoms. But what I'm hearing is that pulling a product or two out, and/or using a cheaper soother, like aloe gel or more Vaseline, may solve the problem. I must admit, I've done a couple face resets (should have just done a month to start lol but it's Christmas!) recently, and while I do love complicated skincare, the success of petrolatum + doing less overall is undeniable! Thank you for discouraging us from over treating and over spending! You're a good egg, Dr Dray, and I don't say this lightly online!

Thanks, Nada. I was able to spend the day with my two sisters. Something we haven't been able to do for many years because of work schedules so a really nice day.
Hi Dr Dray, this was helpful as I’m currently having scalp issues and no one really talks about this here. I use amino acid base surfactants shampoo and I recently found out this type of shampoo can leave a lot of residue behind due to being too mild (there was such a thing I wasn’t aware). I added cleansing shampoo routine with medicated shampoo with sulfur and salicylic acid (they’re anti dandruff ingredients), my dandruff is less. But it’s drying. So I added mild conditioner with not so much fragrance. I think strong fragranced shampoo is extremely irritating to most people’s scalp. Not sure why manufacturers make so many different kinds of shampoo super perfumy fragrance in general is an irritant. I make sure to rinse twice as the time I spent shampooing my hair. Please do more scalp remedy and talk more about scalp conditions, thinning of hair/how to avoid, and how to have healthy scalp and hair. Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
Dr Dray please talk about face acne whilst on the curly girl method! I’ve never seen a video on this topic and I suffered from this type of acne for so long. Heavy oils and butters clogged my pores giving me permanent cheek acne and I wasn’t even aware that this was the cause! I’m sure it would be a very helpful video for the many people watching ❤ Thankyou
cauz girls love making their homemade facial product, they think it's made out of natural ingredients n must be better than those made from big corp. which they r wrong.
If you’re suffering from acne, you should really look into your diet and talk to a dermatologist. Certain food aggravate acne and combined with the wrong diet and products you can have acne issues. You should be looking into probiotics (live bacteria are better than pills) as it would help your healthy gut bacteria. Adding fresh herbs and eating clean are really great way to clear up your skin. Avoid dairy especially cheese. Oils you put in skin aren’t the issues, what kind of oils you are using would matter more. Avoid coconut oil, cocoa butter and olive oil and camellia seed oil, they’re known to aggravate acne. Jojoba, fractionated coconut oil (completely different from regular coconut oil), and grape seed oil are great for acne prone skin. You wouldn’t want to be putting so much oil if you’re putting oil directly. One or two drops after putting alcohol free toner while your skin is moist. I would avoid butters in general for acne prone skin. If your acne persists it can be caused by your hormones, ask your doctor about this. Good luck.
@@KittenBowl1thank you so much for your detailed response! Very helpful. And regarding the oils, I was using almond oil, olive oil, coconut oil… (the most comedogenic 😂). I’ve stopped all together and now occasionally use a bit of “hemi squalane” from The Ordinary if my ends feel very dry or if I need to oil my scalp. I’ve also stopped using super heavy and nourishing shampoos and all those things have trully made a difference. Also started using a Korean brand facewash. I hope Dr Dray can make a video on this topic sometime and maybe help others who might not know where their acne is coming from. Thankyou again 😊
I have wavy hair ..I also have a sensitive scalp that builds up rather quickly…the only way my hair will look cute is with mousse or gel 😭 I have to wash my hair every 3 days because by day , my scalp will get angry…it will breakout, get itchy and it actually hurts sometimes..so I HAVE to wash my hair more often …I want to start washing my hair every 2 days to see if my scalp gets better.. Clear/transparent shampoos work best for me..I use the Aveeno apple cider shampoo …also shampoos with salicylic acid …and once a month I use a clarifying shampoo..sometimes I apply a conditioner especially made for the scalp if my scalp is too dry. My scalp has always been angry but it’s so much better since I started taking care of it I’m trying to figure out a way not to use a hair dryer 😭
Merry Christmas, Jackie!! I hope it was a wonderful day for you. I'm ready to relax after a lot of driving today. The kitties are ready too so I'm about to have tea and would love to share a cup with you on this glorious day. Peace, joy and many blessings to you always, my dear, sweet friend. 💚🕊💚🙏💚✨☕☕🐈🎄
I got rid of all scalp issues by doing a final rinse with a bottle of purified water. Shower water contains chorine and fluoride. My hair color seems to last longer when I do this too.
My understanding is that no one really has a dry scalp as there is a sebaceous unit is associated with each hair therefore dry scalp means that they also generally have visibly dry skin as well
Perfect timing! I'm prone to itchy scalp. Trying my first bottle of Dove dryness and itch relief shampoo. So far, nothing. I got better relief using my regular shampoo and using the rubber scalp thing, washing 2xs and rinsing throughly. I do have a suggestion for people with thick, dense hair (not me). I would get a reusable condiment squirt bottle and put a bit of shampoo with water to get it to your scalp. They're cheap.
Having suffered from a dry itching scalp for 30 years, I’ve learned a lot about it. First and foremost is how often you wash your hair and what kind of shampoo you use. WASH YOUR HAIR!! Just not every day! Let your scalp rest a day or two, give it a chance to build up some oil and heal. The type of shampoo is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!! If you use a shampoo with strong detergents like sodium laurel sulphate STOP IMMEDIATELY!! Use a gentle shampoo like baby shampoo. Also something that’s really good for your skin and health in general is lecithin. I take sunflower lecithin and it has made a tremendous difference in my skin and scalp is skin!! There, that’s it.
I was desperate to relieve the itch so I sprayed rose water with glycerin followed by jajoba oil., and massage for 5 mins. My head finally stop itching. Thank you for this video. I will follow all your advise.
Amazing simple and free tips for ways to minimize the dry itchy scalp condition 😊❤. Personally i do lukewarm bath now due to cold temperatures 😅and no more than 15 minutes in total 😊.
I just started using Vanicream free and clear shampoo, without the usual irritants. I already tried almost everything else so I'm really hoping it helps!
Perfect timing for this video! Do you know if there's any evidence that saltwater can help with some cause of dry scalp? In the summer when I swim in the ocean several times a week (and it's a sea with very low salinity) I feel like my hair and scalp are the healthiest and I have no problem with dry scalp then.
I have noticed this too! Have had dry itchy dandruffs and bleeding scalp for 6 years now! Went to GP multiple times, he prescribed me ketokonizol, didint work. Then gave me steroid lotion - didn’t work. At that point I gave up and stop asking him questions, because nothing was changing. And this November went to Colombia and had few swims in the sea (not a big swimming lover so it was more like dipping), and a week after I had NO iching or flakes at all!! Unfortunately now 3 weeks back to Europe it’s all back.. so yesterday tried to dip my scalp into water and salt and left for the night. It might be a great tool!! But perhaps drying as well..
I shampoo my scalp and condition the strands, leave it a few minutes, mix and rinse. I’ve found it cuts time in the shower and I use less product overall.
I don't have this issue, but if I ever do, I'll know what to do. Thanks, as always, for all you do. Merry Christmas, Dr Dray! I hope you, your sweet momma and little Tybee had a lovely day. 🎄💕🎄
Hi doctor. I hed a scalped itching problems more then 12 days. before I used ketoconazole 2% for my dandruff problems. Now I'm so irritated by the itching of scalp.please kindly give me advice. Best wishes in advance
Dr Dray. I love you, but a super full set of hair does make it difficult to spread beyond all of the hair strands if you don't have enough shampoo! 🥺 I always had a full head of hair, but recently lost a lot due to hormones. I *only* wash my scalp. I definitely need less shampoo now that I have less hair! Also I need less the more concentrated my shampoo is. I highly recommend soaking your scalp in a bath with nothing but lukewarm water. Then shampoo, and soak as you rinse the scalp! I get all the shampoo off so easily, regardless of my thick head of hair. We have a water softener system at my boyfriends house; my skin and hair improved dramatically afterwards! It's very bad at my apartment. But I don't use hot water, makes a huge difference. I also recently started limiting the amount of time under water. Even though we have a very nice filtration system, it makes a difference!
Dr Dray do you have any tips for a tingling scalp? It’s been tingling for months and my doctors say my labs are normal but it feels like something is crawling on my scalp all the time. No lice or mites or anything! I just gave birth 8 months ago. Please any tips?
Omg I get that too 😳 no lice or anything I’m like what the heck. Possibly just dry scalp though….. but have no idea what to use anymore my hair gets oily so quick yet my derm said I have a dry scalp. Makes no sense to me
But what do I do when my scalp is already dry? It's itchy right now and I'm not using a perfumed shampoo. I only shampoo once a week because of my eczema, so what can I do to moisturise it?
I have just changed my shampoo & conditioner to the L'Oreal Elvive Bond Repair, after Michelle "labmuffin" mentioned it recently. I was previously happy using the Aldi argan oil hydrating shampoo & conditioner, but lately it has been making the lengths of my very straight lightened hair "stringy'...not too long after washing it and especially on windy days. Maybe it causes the dust and pollution to be attracted to the hair surface more, by having too much of a good thing? Hopefully the L'Oreal Bond Repair will keep my naturally oily hair & scalp healthy, but will make it have more life and less weighed down than it has been lately. I've only used it once so far. 👱🏻♀️❤️
After the second time I used it yesterday, my hair isn't as silky as it normally is, but it thankfully hasn't gone "stringy" though. I just dried it off casually with the hair drier, but didn't actually style it with any other tools. I haven't purchased the L'Oreal Bond Repair Serum yet. I also haven't tried the shampoo & conditioner with heat protectant and/or styling lotion/cream. I think that it was "too much of a good thing" using hydrating products as well as styling products on my very straight hair? CZcams's "Blowout Professor" says that hydrating products shouldn't be used on hair (without body) such as mine. That's why I was eager to try something different when "Lab Muffin" mentioned the L'Oreal Bond Repair products. My naturally oily hair is lightened to blonde with tint I used to bleach it to platinum blonde, but now that my hair is below my shoulders I prefer it to be a warmer blonde. 👱🏻♀️❤️
People should pour shampoo into the hands & foam before putting it on the scalp. I have thin hair and low density, I can use a dime size of shampoo and clean my whole scalp.
How do you FIX the issue though? Let's say you've made all the mistakes many times that you mention for a long time. How do you go back? Reduce hair washing frequency?
@@cherylvisconti I have shortish hair and only wash every other day but my scalp gets very dry, stripped and itchy with small white flakes no matter what I use. What should I do?
Merry Christmas, Dr. dray! I gave my 4 daughters some of your suggested products for Christmas! I’ve learned so much from you. We live just north of you in Waller! 👋 Hi! Many blessings, Teri
Dr. Dray, I am 46 and utilize root spray for thinning areas on the top 🔝 of my scalp/widened hair part. No fray for me, yet. I use the SA shampoos as a double cleanse 2-3 times per week. May reduce it to just 2 x’s per week because I live in LV where it is very dry.
Greetings Dr Dray hope u r well n 🖐Hello Every1 n Happy Monday😀🎄n what a Wonderful Vid…. thanks n This is Gonna b so Important🔥👍n Continued Blessings to All💜….
hmm, never made the connection between hard water and dry scalp. i moved to an area that has hard water two years ago, and my dry scalp got ten times worse. nothing about my routine changed otherwise. i am going to invest in a shower head that filters out the minerals.
Hello Dr. Dray, do you have an opinion on the brand "pavise"? They sell $150 sunscreen and claim to have a proprietary zinc oxide formula that is better than "normal" mineral sunscreen
I get dry flakes on my hairline often. I dont use any products but a leave on conditioner which only goes on the hair. Therefore I know it must be my shampoo but idk what other to use! It's also the weather, I used to live in a humid area and now I live in a dry windy area.
Btw, super pretty makeup! I was planning an OTT red & green look but my eyelids are mad at me again :(. Creamy matte eye makeup seems to work well rn, but adding the iridescent glitter layer yesterday just dried up all my progress & I think I might have to put my Metallics away 😢lol in the big picture, it's not even a problem, so lucky me ❤
Is it red or pink? A lot of people have reactions to red, pink, or purple eyeshadow due to something in the particular pigment ingredient. I forget exactly what it is . Edit, I looked it up and it's the ingredient carmine. Just have to steer clear of those colors if that's the case
Why do you assume people’s itchy scalp is dry? My itchy scalp is neither dry nor flaky. By contrary, it’s oily and sometimes there are pimples. I wash my hair every 3 days with normal shampoo and clarifying shampoo every 2-4 weeks
Unfortunately I’m not allowed to add any filter to the shower head or anything like that in my apartment. I’ve heard of people saving jugs of clarified water to wash and rinse their hair for special occasions but I’m skeptical those have any result on the already damaged calcium deposited hair. Haha
Merry Christmas DrDray! These tips are very helpful. I notice you did not mention piroctene olamine with regard to dandruff. Is this only outside the US? I got it on Amazon as the active in a dandruff shampoo.
1. Eliminate unnecessary hair products (pomade, gel, hair dyes etc.)
2. Check your shampoo (don’t use clarifying shampoo more than once a week)
3. Don’t use too much shampoo (only use a quarter size for any hair type) don’t use hot water use lukewarm water instead. Don’t use hard water. Rinse shampoo completely.
4. Avoid exfoliating dry skin
5. Minimize hot tools (hairdryer - use cool setting)

Merry Christmas! 🎄What are you wearing on the lips? The color suits you very well

Scalp is skin guys. Apply VASELINE a couple of hours before washing your hair or on the night before. It works like a charm.
It’s work to dry skin itchy
👱🏻♀️❤️
Hi Nada! Happy holidays! Report back on how you like it. I have really liked all the L’Oréal conditioners I’ve tried but not many shampoos yet.

I can’t avoid hard water it’s where i live. I use a filter
People should pour shampoo into the hands & foam before putting it on the scalp. I have thin hair and low density, I can use a dime size of shampoo and clean my whole scalp.
Merry Christmas Andrea ❤
How do you FIX the issue though? Let's say you've made all the mistakes many times that you mention for a long time. How do you go back? Reduce hair washing frequency?
Yes. Do not wash your hair everyday. I have very long and thick hair; only once a week…makes all of the difference! You’ll see! Merry Christmas!
@@cherylvisconti I have shortish hair and only wash every other day but my scalp gets very dry, stripped and itchy with small white flakes no matter what I use. What should I do?
Thank you, and Merry Christmas 🎄!
Good Morning ☀️

Happy Christmas Dr Dray…see you tomorrow x🤩💙🎄

So antidandruff shampoo r bad? I’ve trying w them but i stilll get flakes should i hydrate my scalp instead? Recommend products!!
Thank you Dr.Gray❤
hmm, never made the connection between hard water and dry scalp. i moved to an area that has hard water two years ago, and my dry scalp got ten times worse. nothing about my routine changed otherwise. i am going to invest in a shower head that filters out the minerals.
I have had 2 male plumbers tell me they do not like putting soft water in because it messes with the pipes. 🤔
Interesting.
Nice
What about Eucerin Baby Shampoo? Once a week I shampoo. Thank you for your informational videos
So I’m not supposed to shampoo twice? Second time is when the bubbles activate for me
Yeah i notice that head and shoulder dry my hair out so i just use 3 times a week to calm down my malassezia that flair up
Merry Christmas guys do
Have a wonderful day Dr. Dray❤️
Can you advise about trimmer/shaving the head fully and maintaining it for dandruff?
Very informative thank you
Merry christmas dr. Dray❤❤❤❤
She has videos on oily, flaky scalp as well as just itchy scalp itself. I searched by her name and “itchy scalp” and found a lot.
My scalp is also itchy and oily-not dry. Even after hours of searching on CZcams and Google, I have yet to find an explanation or treatment
Then its dandruff
Make a video for people who know what they have already and don’t do anything in this video but still have it
Unfortunately I’m not allowed to add any filter to the shower head or anything like that in my apartment.
I believe so. We still have pyrithione zinc (banned in the EU) and she said that’s got more evidence of effectiveness.
I am wondering about our water now. Seems likes my itching started after we moved in our new house.
Merry Christmas Dr Dray
Exfoliating why it’s not good before shower? How we exfoliate then?
But can u recommend products????
I find shampoo spreads on my scalp better if I don't lather it up in my hands first
Hey Dr Dre, any advice on getting rid of hair casts?
How do I heal traction alopecia? Xx
Can you have shingles on your scalp??
