I also keep my iPhone in the bed, but I do not charge it there. How many people to speak in meetings? Just one or two, or everyone in a certain period of time. As for me, just two people and it is really annoying, so I am looking for anyone who has a different practice.

Wow consulting looks much more than a 40 hour schedule job. I’m curious do you have an MBA? And what school did you go to if you do… Also I hear that consulting is very stressful and you travel a lot and you can’t really meet your friends and family often which really turned me away from this field even though initially I was very eager to go into this field. What would you say… is that true?

I don’t have an MBA and my undergrad is at UCLA. The job is definitely more stressful than some others and the hours can vary quite a bit depending on the project. I would say 60% of the time I work 50-60 hours a week. Sometimes it could go up to 70-80 hours or occasionally down to 30 hours a week. I have friends who work 90-100 hours a week but that’s not too common.
As for travel, we are embracing a hybrid model where we travel once every few weeks right now, but again it can vary depends on team preferences.
Best practices to keep a some what normal life is to set clear boundaries with teams and protect your time with family/ friends before hand. It’s hard on weekdays especially when the project gets busy but weekends are protected (never worked on weekends so far).
Happy to talk about how to maintain work life balance in a future episode :)
