  • We caught up with Jay Clark from Dunlop after a test day at our Corona studio in Southern California. Jay had some spare time and wanted to share some tips on changing a dirt bike tire. We know there are many tricks and ways to change a tire but wanted our subscribers to have a video available to them when the time comes. Enjoy and we hope this helps on the trail, at the track, or in the garage.

I changed out both front and rear tires on my bike for the first time. I watched jay Clark’s tire change videos , took my time and everything went smooth. I did warm the tires up by the heater for a bit first. Thanks for the how to videos they are a lot of help.

Jay - many thanks! The only place near me hat does this charges $85 to change a single tire. I'm heading out to buy tire spoons now.

Put 80 psi in a 14” rim yesterday didn’t use lube, tube exploded and blew a hole in the side wall of the tyre now my ear 👂 is ringing and aches

No joy, darn. The problem was my tire choice, Dunlop AT81RC-19. This low profile, four ply beast nearly broke my tire spoons. Used the same tire paste and technique. I just could not get the last four inches of the first bead. Took it to the shop, they said there is not a more difficult tire to mount. Great fun tire but I will stick to MX5x next time. BTW - The "RC" in the name of the tire means "reinforced carcass". That is not marketing hype, surprised you need to put any air in this thing to ride it.

Is that the 150 degree Cali sun making it that easy ? - 20 outside in the barn is what we want to see.

I know your endorsement is Dunlop and motion pro but what do you think of the rabaconda tire changer especially for mousse

Dish wash or shampoo works as well for lubing your tire

One tip for us mere mortals, when you start getting towards the end, go ahead and put 2-3 spoons in and when you get to them just pull them over. Easy peasy!!

All these videos are the same where they use a tire that is 6 months old and is soft, he should try one that has been on a bike a few years and is hard....

I don't think an old cold tire would slow him down much. It would slow me down, but not him.

That's great but that shit dont cut it if you're installing a 6 ply VE33 on a 19". Its more like wrestling a f*ckin bear with tire irons. 🤣🤣
