    I've got a 2018 Dragster RC that comes with the same SC Exhaust. Everyone in MV club was egging me on to put the SC on, and kept saying "but I like the look of the original triple pipes". Anyway I fitted the SC today and couldn't stop riding. It sounds mental!! At 170km/hr it is just like an F1 car. Another bonus is that the fueling at low speeds is so much smoother. With the original exhaust the engine was very jerky. Moral: Don't be a dick, put the SC project pipe on.

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  Před 3 lety +1

      Ha, yeah, echoed my thoughts exactly. It sounds absolutely mad at full chat. I could not believe the different it made. i was really only expecting it to be a little louder. It is an F1 car sound, also get some nicer burbles from the exhaust when you are thrashing it and just blip the throttle slightly on downshifts.
      Epic exhaust, so happy - so bloody addictive too!
      The other berserk thing is how incredibly light it is. Were you shocked when you first picked it up and then compared it to stock? wow.

    Fitted my one yesterday, I bought a used Race kit from RC in fancy wooden chest, that came with the ECU which raises Rev limit to 12800 from 12300, and gives additional 10bhp, ECU not fitted yet. The big Negative with the SC exhaust is uncomfortable noise levels at 5000 to 6500rpm engine under load unpleasant as it has no baffles and slight drone, clear that rev range an it's better ,and you permanently loose that lovely induction roar, you hear under the tank, because you can't hear it anymore, and before I would ride 3rd and 4th when I want to get on it all the time, now I ride 5th, 6th to get noise relief, as I am in my mid 50,s I have to think of long term hearing health, you can not ride it without ear plugs if you respect your hearing and will properly get a head ache I suspect Its so Loud that you might not be able to do track days on most UK circuits. The Positives of it is, it is a work of art to look at, the sound at idle is better but it still has odd idle noise from engine as a result of counter rotating crank I suspect. Side view is cleaner and better I think even though you loose thriple pipe it looks fabulous Now it's a 80mile blast bike, ride it a 100 plus miles its tiring, and forgot motorway long runs. It's not my only bike so long runs are not an issue, if any of above bothers you don't buy it as you will be sorry, if not its fabulous exhaust but seriously consider others like fresno or QD than have 10 minute baffle change. To sum up I love it, but not if it was my only bike.

      SC Project certainly do a version for the Brutale of most ages. It was easy-ish to get the stock can off. I had a nightmare getting the can on due to restrictive space and fat fingers but after moving the lower fairing out I was able to get my fingers in to the right place to stick the washed and nut on the inside. On other bikes it might literally take a couple of minutes!

    So earlier this year, I removed the euro 4 butterfly valve which sits right behind the catalytic converter. I can tell you the original 3 pipe monster of a muffler already sounds way deeper an fuller at idle already. No check engine light whatsoever thanks to a Healtech ESE. Next plan would be to remove the baffling in the muffler, and connect the entrance and exit of the muffler with eachother by means of a perforated pipe. My educated guess tells me it will sound like this, while keeping the original look.

      HI, just replied on the MV forum. Great exhaust, the noise profile is amazing and it is very loud indeed. If you have the bike at a place can do a remap/dyno then I would go for it as it will release some extra horses and make it smoother. You don;t have to though - my one runs okay but not perfect. I did originally loko at the Corse Tre and then the FM Projects and QD. I did want to retain the 3-pipes look.
      However, I got a deal with the bike and this was the exhaust so I had nor real choice.
      Move forward a month and it arrives, it is super super light and I reckon it looks amazing on the bike and sounds bonkers. If you didnt know MVs had 3 pipes then this is the one people would want anyway.

      @@RevMonkey I'm very keen on the SC project, although that Corse system looks like a good contender as well. Mine's completely stock. Barely had the chance to run her in this year, actually. Had a defective battery tender which killed the battery. My old man and I set about replacing the battery and accidentally broke part of the fuel pump, so I had a month or two of downtime waiting for a replacement to ship before eventually back-sourcing a replacement nozzle from an old Aprilia bike from 2004.
      Truly one of the most unique and impressive bikes I've ever been on, or even seen for that matter. And jaw-droppingly gorgeous as well.

If you MUST have a 3 pipe then there are actually a few options. If you want a svelte pipe that us super light - just over 1kg!! - and sounds like an F1 car, get the SC Project - it is a Race can though so technically road illegal in many countries and certainly will need a 'friendly' tester when it comes to your annual check. :)

      I booked the bike in for its service and they tried to fix it. It worked for about 10 miles then went. I took it in this morning and they disconnected the actuator valve. This saves me having to replace it and the cabling. The bike is about 20% louder and pops and crackles more. Not 100% sure if I like it to be honest. Might be a bit too much and very hooligan and I feel like the responsiveness has just dulled a tad - dunno.

      @@RevMonkey Yeah stock pipes always seem to weigh a lot. I shaved off a few kilos on my shiver 750 going to a roadsitalia exhaust. Going from the standard leadnacid battery to lithium shaved off another 3 kilos. The stock was 4 and the lithium just under 1kg. The lithium is good but needs a bit of warming up on cold mornings. Usually the first time I try it barely turns over the motor and you'd think it was flat. After a few tries it finally warms up enough to start the bike.

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  Před 3 lety

      Loudness isn;t for all people, for sure. With a car or bike you need to be careful it won't drone on you on longer distances. There is a belief that loud bikes are safer and cars will hear you, which is somewhat logical but for me, it is taking the amazing sound and simply amplifying it. Very common with sports cars and bikes.
      There is also the question of looks - many bikes look better with an aftermarket exhaust.
      Then there is the weight saving.
      And then... after all that... new bikes have hideously compromised exhausts to meet emissions regulations. An aftermarket exhaust can give you the bike you were always meant to get.
      I hope that explains the love of exhausts for bikers. Still, each to their own, and I don't judge either way. Aftermarket, louder exhausts suit some bikes and for many others, especially tourers, cruisers and adventures they are 100% not a good idea.
      If you bottwed my MV and hear it in a tunnel, in the flesh, you would be smiling, believe me (ah, and deaf! )

      @ScottGraber Před 11 měsíci

      it's not a bit mad, it's pure madness.. the reason wny people use transportation is to get from one place to another. in the case of riding a motorcycle the great majority of riding is for entertainment. the loud exhaust, high acceleration, and high speeds generate adrenaline just like a roller coaster, only a roller coaster is 1 million times safer during fair weather, some people do use motorcycles to commute, but this is a choice not a necessity. 99 percent of all motorcycle miles driven are recreational, in the industrialized countries: it is recreational, and nothing else. one motorcycle enthusiast Cyclecruza www.youtube.com/@CycleCruza on youtube has admitted that without the loud exhaust, riding a motorcycle is boring czcams.com/video/9LFHRosjqTA/video.html (he also rides electric which has informed his opinion) he says after a while, riding an electric is boring because of the lack of noise stimulation generating adrenaline) that's what the loud noise is about: stimulating adrenaline. this proves that the obsession with exhaust noise is PURE madness, not "a bit mad" increasing and decreasing speed just to hear the exhaust is pure madness. it makes the ride pointless. @@RevMonkey
