  • Father (80) and son (51) bike the Great Allegheny Passage trail from Cumberland to Pittsburgh, starting with an Amtrak ride before riding their Aventon ebike a Surly Midnight Special. The weather was great and the journey was even better. We also got to ride over the freshly resurfaced Pinkerton Bridges.

Wow, 80 years old! Ebike or not, thats a lot of miles in the saddle for that trip. Well done Sir, heck of an accomplishment. One of the better documented bike tours ive watched Brian.

@@briansadventures Absolutely, it was a beautiful ride. I rode most of it 118 miles on the first day and finished the trail on the next day. Didn't plan to rush like that but I enjoyed the ride and didn't want to stop, also next day was a rainy day. Now, I'm putting video together. 🙂

Just found your channel and have loved following your adventures! Myself and a group of 8 of us rode the Erie Canal Trail last week, and your video on the Erie Canal was great in helping me know what to see and expect!

@briansadventures Of course! Thank you for making your videos! We had a great time, and camped in a couple of the locations you mentioned (Lock 21 being one). Looking forward to hearing about your experience on the Empire State Trail, that you mentioned in this video! I live near Albany and have been interested in doing some other portions of that trail as well!

Thank you! It was a great trip, both for doing it with my dad and also trying the B&B approach instead of camping. By the way, you just got me to Google the Kennywood Memories.

Great video and editing. I'm 70 and plan on riding Pitt to DC with a friend in June of '24. I also want to document my adventure. It looked like you used an Insta360. May I ask what settings you used?

Enjoyed another of your many wondeful video's once again Brian! My Dad is 87 and I'm 65 and there's no way I could have ever gotten him out there even when we were both decades younger! I stumbled onto this old Arlo Guthrie song "Highway In The Wind" the other day which kind of captures the magic of the open road. The lyrics kind of harken back to the 1960s & are definitely a bit dated with his "like a rolling stone" approach to romance but oh well. Lol.

Thank you Mark! I saw Arlo Guthrie in concert many years ago, I believe at Oberlin College. He had his son, Abe, playing with him. It was a surprise that my Dad agreed to do the trip, though I think he has the bug to ride more, even if locally.
