These are the things you're rarely going to hear in an MD's office and I think not only because of the lack of care for research, but also they don't trust the patients to do the hard work of these lifestyle changes. However, I am thankful for the work you continue to do. You give us true hope in this battle.

I have to say, I'm in stage one and when I lived in a mould ridden student home my HS was so much worse and I didn't even know it could be making it that way. Also I found just cutting out bread and mushrooms MASSIVELY helped. I can't eat Quorn meat replacement as I flare almost just as quickly as I do with mushrooms.

I used to have very bad HS and I got rid of it entirely with no relapse so far by eating healthy(clean keto) and then drinking kefir to get rid of the candida along with "Thorne SF722 Undecylenic Acid(it kills candida)" + "Caprylic Acid(it kills candida)". I have no HS symptoms anymore and feel better than I ever have!

This is interesting. I was drinking (health food store bought/organic) Kiefer as well but my Functional Medicine Physician said no Kiefer as I actually found it make my Candida worse (the sugars.) Maybe you made your Kiefer from scratch at home?

@@donnaallgaier-lamberti3933 I don’t do keto anymore and the HS is still gone. I know this may be weird but I figured out that Gluten and products with yeast or drinking alcohol causes my hs to come back temporarily. If I eat a lot of pizza or pasta I’ll have bumps appear the next morning but if I don’t eat them anymore it goes away in a day or 2. I have it fully under control and I only take some normal supplements.

Yes, every time I've had severe HS breakouts I've had symptoms of oral thrush and chrones disease. I've battled this for almost a decade. Recently I've realized treating myself for candida overgrowth has changed my life. I've had to diagnose myself with everything else outside the HS. Doctors have been very uninformed with the limited information known.

I have HS (and Hashimoto's) and I too battle constant Candida. Yes, had very serious exposure mold in the workplace during 2008-2012 which triggered multiple Autoimmune Conditions for me and I have bene using Functional Medicine ever since. I have on occasion used the prescribed drugs for Candida but the creams and powers tend to make my Candia rash even worse, making its itch and even BURN badly. I have found my best luck with using Colloidal Silver spray multiple times per day as it cools and sooths the rash area. The more I use it the better the Candida gets so I aim for 6-10 times per day (each time I go into my bathroom to us the toilet, take my supplements, change clothing etc.) I have been on the AIP (Autoimmune protocol) now for about 10-12 years which does help. I do pretty well with my diet at home but it is hard to control the foods/food options served at friends and families homes and our local senior center where I am eligible for a free lunch so this is where I fail.

I wonder if there is also a correlation between the variability in triggers and this HS-candida connection? (Because there are different kinds of candida.) If everyone is likely battling an overgrowth, why or how is it we all have different and sometimes unique triggers that cause flare ups? Or is that just coincidental, and we all have antibiotics in common? Not to mention other gut biome disrupting things like soy sauce and "0-carb sugars" in the diet (aside from high carb intake).
I just saw something on candida and acne, and I might have known of that before but it just dawned on me, so I search HS and candida and then this video pops up. Blown away. My mom actually got diagnosed, rest of the family just figured it's bad acne for them. Never heard of any of this.
I did not know about that birth control effect! Wish I had gone off it sooner 😅
    Makes sense.
But I thought the yeast in yeasty foods was killed from the cooking process? And therefore inactive... so this is saying brewers yeast remains active in your gut?
Thank you for making this video!
With everything I learn in microbiology I'm left wondering why those kinds of tests aren't standard in health check ups.....its only when things get so bad and inexplicable that they test.
And then you throw in covid and how rampantly they tested for that... like c'mon

I have had a few go-rounds with Candida and have treated it with my Functional Medicine Physcician assistance. My provider also suspected biofilms. but your video is the first time I leanred of the connection between Candiada and HS. Another "connection" I reently learned was my too high Testosterone levels (322) from Bio-TE ioidentical hormone implants.... My provider used Biocidin LSF drops for the biofilms and the Candida. I added GI Detox for three months becasue i did have mold exposure in thw wrokplace between 2008-20012. I went off of the Bio-TE hormones which was causing me constant HS flares of boils, abcesse and celluitis and I am now back in a balanced state and no more skin issues. My skin has calmed down again, thank goodness.

Hello, in the end of the video talking about taking supplements You mention supplements with probiotics. Is it okey to take probiotics with HS? In the cheat sheet it's said:
-Vitamins or supplements derived from Saccharomyces cerevisiae or aspergillus*
    -Saccharomyces boulardii (probiotic yeast)*
    -Nutritional Yeast*
    -Red Yeast Rice*
I'm currently taking prebiotics, since they're not bacteria and found in fermented foods but I'm wondering if I can get probiotics.
    Thank you!

Take a soil-based probiotic. It cannot hurt you. You're simply replacing the good bacteria that has been destroyed by the bad/ yeast.

Don’t use probiotics containing any yeast as HS patients have antibodies to them, even though they’re healthy for other people. Also can’t tolerate any fermented foods because they naturally harbor yeast, you won’t see it on the label but it gives me a nasty flare by the next morning.
