  • Greenane Farms is a small family farm in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York and it’s the type of place that you would never know existed unless someone gave you a heads up.
Patrick and Thanya Rider’s farm raises chicken, pig, cow, goats, sheep, quail, and other livestock. They serve their fresh meats at the farm’s restaurant, which specializes in traditional Mexican food. From carne asada tacos, to Cornish hen mole, to chicken enchiladas, the family restaurant is focused on bringing authentic Mexican flavors to the tiny community of Meredith, New York.
Patrick and Thanya’s story is unique; Thanya comes from Mexico City, while Patrick comes from the rural Catskills. Though their cultures differ, Patrick and Thanya (and much of her extended family) have made a peaceful home for their family, as well as a vibrant community restaurant, at Greenane Farms.

My son drove me there for my birthday, it took us 3 hours and 20 minutes to get there from the Bronx. I really enjoyed the meal. We all had different dishes. I had the volcano beef dish ( El volcan de res). It was amazing. Anybody coming here, need to try the volcano beef dish or volcano vegetarian dish. I promise you, it will be very popular for tourism. It was bubbling for a long time while I was eating it. The meat was tasty, the guacamole was fresh. If you don't eat meat, they do have a vegetarian dish. I also had flan for dessert. I am planning to go back again and stay in a hotel nearby, before they close again. Call or reserve online before you go, make sure you have two drivers in your group, one to drive there , one to return home, you will not be disappointed.

Growing up as a first generation Mexican American, my mom struggling to speak English and my dad just passable, I know the feeling. We always had parties and became really close friends with our caucasian neighbors. We'd have them over at all our parties and they'd eat like there was no tomorrow lol. They'd be hesitant at first, but loved it after. All their kids grew up with us and we all rubbed off on one another. I still remember my mom sending me over with extra dishes she'd prepare so that the neighbors could have some too.
None of us passed judgement on each other. We learned and bonded despite our differences. To me, thats what America is.

I’m Mexican American and married to a American wife we love to travel and up state New York is on of our favorite places. We are going to make a special trip there from Michigan to to enjoy some of the farm to table real Mexican food. Keep up the good work you can see the pride our culture has in the kitchen right there....

I moved from Philadelphia to a little border town in Rio Rico Arizona “BAM CULTURE SHOCK”! But before i knew it i was blown away by how similar our cultures were Work ethic, family, cars & Religion (We’re Irish Catholic!) now 98% of our diet is Mexican food! I moved back to Philly & after 20 years in AZ I couldn’t stop dreaming about that lil Mexican town and all the food so we moved back! I think if there ever was a people to tack over the reigns here in America it should be Mexicans because the so closely resemble our culture which is to say “AMERICAN” culture!

Think Irish and Mexicans have always had a lot of common. Catholicism, family, and the drinking LOL. I live in Kansas City. I know several half Irish half Mexican people, we go well together LOL
