    Bill Duke spoke to VladTV about being the first person in his family to go to college and questioning his views on racism after his school's president paid for his books, room, and food for his stay at Boston College. He also spoke about his parents wanting him to become a doctor and later an English teacher, but he couldn't walk away from acting after catching the bug.

    I went to Dutchess Community College from ‘03 to ‘07 , and I’ll never forget this story. I remember seeing and hearing that Bill Duke went there and was a performing arts major (sadly never met him) Im a big fan of menace and saw get rich or die trying in theaters excited he was in it. Anyways, I was struggling the first couple years and I took this social issues class in 04, 05. I struggled in that class and the professor totally concerned about me. I had an F mid semester, and she told the Bill Duke story to me about his situation and what his professor did for him, that inspired me to pass the rest of my social issues tests and finished the semester with a C. And it led to improve my GPA up from 1.9 and finished with 2.7. Leading to my graduation in 2007. Thank you, for my social issues professor and the spirit of Bill Duke for the motivation and inspiration for me to accomplish a goal cherished to this day🙏🏾📜

    My coworker (who happened to be black) some years ago found out I was broke after having to get my car fixed. I had no food, couldn't pay my rent, I was financially in a really bad situation. He asked me to come over to his place after work one morning, so I went to his place. His mom had made a huge breakfast and they invited me to eat with them. I was so surprised at that alone. Then before I left, she gave me a huge box full of pasta, canned food, etc. and that really hit me hard. I was getting ready to leave and got in my car, my co-worker came running out and gave me 200 dollars. I will never forget that and I keep in contact with him to this day. The intention of the educator is still pure. It's the criteria of the academic sector that is appalling.
      It's amazing how successful some people have become by simply being guided by a singular, individual character in their lives that defined how they choose to push themselves beyond their wildest dreams with our modern academic models.
      Teachers are the amazing ones, not the educational mandate.
      Teachers aren't even trained enough for the job, but they make the best of it anyway. The best of them are only as good as their ability to adapt their methods based on each and every individual student.

      Something that has cost us a huge amount of good in the world over the last 50 years thanks to the self justifying cowardice of conservatives in their not standing up to the very things litteral millions of our forefathers fought and died to keep from getting a foothold in this or any country to begin with.
      There is a time for turning the other cheek, but not when someone keeps pushing you down and taking what's rightfully yours over and over and over with full intent to take over your life and world because you will let them if they just keep at it long enough. Only self justifying cowards don't understand that concept.
      I'm openly left of center old school liberal and the two things I hate more than anything in the world right now are the far left and the self justifying cowardice of the conservative right who will not help stand up to those people when they really need to right now.
      Of the two at least I can at least give the far left credit for fighting for what they believe in even if all it will do is kill millions upon millions of good people when they get their way. The conservative right doesn't even do that knowing full well what will come when the left gets what its after.

      Munsters Kim The connections between other animals/primates and humans are not linear. It’s more complicated than just that. Humans are somewhat different and more complicated than other primates. Human females are much more selective and *tend* to stay with one partner for long periods of time once they find the right one through “trial and error,” sometimes even staying for life or until death separates them. Other primate females on the other hand do not care as much who they get fucked by; the alpha male chooses first and then the other males take the rest. Obviously, that is not how human relationships work and if you believe in that, then I’m sorry sir. At some point in your life, you are going to hit the brick wall of reality face first. I just hope you will recover from that. Maybe then, you will be able to have a stable longterm relationship with someone and not just aim for a fling here and there. God bless your soul.

      What you’ve hit on here is the crux of an issue that has divided America. I understand racism. But most Americans are not racist. I am not racist. But what most Americans & myself are is very down on anyone or any group that brings attitude to the front of every discussion or disagreement. Part of that is cultural for some groups but most of it is a lack of respect for others with an assumption that anything less than “in your face” is a sign of weakness. That could not be further from the truth as displayed by this man. A lack of a strong father figure in a family has the ability to instill the respect that allows different cultures to interact without attitude. It’s the attitude that brings out the conflict that is always perceived as racism.

    • @craig5477
      @craig5477 Před 2 lety +8

      An example of how attitude has changed our culture is displayed on the grid iron. There was a time when a player who scored or made a good play would dust himself off & get ready for the next play. Some of the old couches used to preach,”Act like you’ve made a TD before…no Show Boating”. But these days every score or good play gets punctuated by fist pumps & in your face gestures of disrespect to the other team. That behavior is now so ingrained & accepted that I doubt it will every change. But that behavior translates to society at large & sets the stage for confrontation when there are no refs to throw a flag

If you belong to a minority group you will see good and bad people even within that same group. Would you then assume people in your group are good or bad? Regardless of intelligence level, which is subjective as a concept in itself, people have to make up their own minds. Unfortunately, the current liberal education system encourages victim culture, racism, and inherent self hatred. I am a minority who experienced severe racism and even violence. This came from Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, and even Asians. I also experienced positive things from each of those groups. Should I love, hate, or have no beliefs about those groups? If you believe 9 blue people hate you but then 1 blue person treats you with kindness then any prejudice you have should be against those 9 people regardless of their color.
