It's insane how his talking voice is so soft and calm but when he sings it's like a mothafuckin LION😅
I absolutely LOVE that extreme contrast. 🖤
So kind hearted, soft spoken - and very funny, but my God when he sang was it of another world.
Soo missed, truly 😢❤
I think it was Tom Morello that gave him the nickname 'angry angel'
"But I beat it, I beat death" You did Layne, you became a legend that will never be forgotten.
100% true
We all beat death. Consciousness is energy and you can’t kill energy, it lives forever. All of our consciousness floats off somewhere else when our bodies expire but our thoughts, knowledge and memories live on forever. Some of us get to experience it before our bodies even die and the word amazing doesn’t really do it justice. Surreal….
@@ssherrierable I hope that's true brother. I'm not into religion and I think we will probably disappear and go to the void with no emotions, no memories and no fear, because we simply cease to exist. And you know what? that's scary. If you're right, it would be an amazing thing to experience and death would be only one tiny step over this path. Hope you do well brother.
@@ssherrierable well said....we are all born to die one day. It's our choices and vulnerabilities we make in our life times that makes the final determinations of how sooner or later that day shall come. My personal thoughts are that if I cannot remember my birth that I highly doubt that I will remember my moments when I am entering into eternal life.
@@ssherrierable Exactly!! Amen!!

Yesterday was Layne Staley's 55th Birthday in August 22nd! It's been over 20 years ago without Layne Staley.
I love a lot of bands from the 90s. But AIC and Mad season are my fave in front of Soundgarden Pantera STP Nirvana and Rage against the machine
Layne Staley was his name. He was loved and we all will miss him.
I never really care when celebrities die but for selfish reasons, ( cause I know I’ll never get anything else), I was saddened by Layne and Chris Farley dying.
7 am…
On a Tuesday.
In August….
Wow my birthday is a day before his..huh
somewhere there is an Amazonian beetle out there with the best rock/grunge singing voice ever
Here's wishing I was an Amazonian beetle.
And an enormous penis if those (French?) last-frame subtitles are to be believed 😅
Exactly 😂
I actually searched it and I found a species that belongs to the genus Chlasmisus and is native to the Amazon rainforest in Ecuador.
The thing that made me really smile is that in the article they wrote:
"In the video, Chlasmisus shimmers with a royal purple carapace and a very David Bowie-like combination purple-green streak across its head. (There’s just something about the bug that screams rockstar.)"
I'm sure he's having a great time :)
Layne is a pretty wholesome guy

Knowing that he was a gamer as well makes him all the more awesome. You can tell that he was a genuinely good person. Rip Layne, and thank you. You are missed and will always be in our hearts.
That's one of the only reasons he'd leave his condo. Essentials, comic book stores and video games. A big kid at heart💜.
That's what they say...
A lot of info on recent whereabouts of Layne was lost when Mike passed
@@clintmullins8670 what do you mean?
@@clintmullins8670 People saw him out and about but rarely. Only at certain stores..like a routine/ritual. Mike was the last person to see Layne alive and he became more and more reclusive but every 2 weeks or so, Layne would draw out a heap of money, score his dope and get comics, games etc. That's how they realised something was wrong. He hadn't used his card in a longer amount of time than usual.
I know! One of the last pics of him he’s wearing a metal gear solid shirt.
Jeeze watching Layne just be his funny genuine self surrounded by friends makes me so so happy and sad. The contrast, knowing that he died alone at the mercy of substance dependency just is unbelievable :/
RIP
Agreed 100%
It makes me cry. Not the whole rockstar loved and worshipped, oh no we'll never have him back thing. It's him the person that's gone that makes me so upset. Of course I didn't know him personally, but you can tell the man was a genuine sweet and awesome guy, you just know that if you have any intuition at all. It just hurts because I do believe I've felt pain like his through a myriad of issues other than just addiction but most of all it's what he deserved. He should have had a great woman by his side that encouraged him to get help and stuck by him no matter what and loved unconditionally, he deserved that. That same woman would have given him children which I believe he would have absolutely adored and would have been the greatest dad ever. He deserved to be recognized as the greatest rock singer ever, he deserved all the accolades but most of all he deserved life, love, and genuine peace and happiness. I will always love him and I do hope to meet him one day out in the great yonder.
it sucks for everyone but he chose his path. ultimately he shone bright and burned out fast. we have his music for eternity. thats more than most people leave behind.
@@_sunshine_rainbows I don't know if you've ever been through addiction but it's not a simple as he chose his path of destruction and said to hell with life. There is alot of neurological, genetic, real scientific deficiencies going within the addict. Then you have to also account for the mental, emotional, spiritual, environmental, and physical health of the addict too. Then factor in the individual and their circumstances. For me i never thought I could get clean. I totally accepted my bondage and slavery to heroin/all opioids but eventually the wear and tear, the guilt and debt, poverty and more poverty, etcetera, etcetera boiled down to me either dying, which I have twice and came back or get clean. It was way easier for me because I wasn't just broke but i was negative. Yeah. In Layne's case he was a multimillionaire with all the factors I mentioned earlier working against him and in complete imprisonment under his addiction. I can tell you right now that if I were in his place I more than very likely would not have been able to quit. Addiction is a demonic force with a stronger magnetic bond than a compass and the north pole. When you're dope sick it's like having the worst flu and the most devastating broken heart all at the same time. It makes Freddie Kruger look like a beanie baby. Yes in a way it appears to be chosen path but it is far from it. Society tends to acknowledge that drug addiction is a disease but still holds on to the notion that it is a chosen path due to the perceived pleasure the addict gets from doing the drugs and the baggage that comes with it. No one that I know ever says the anorexic person has chosen their path to not eat and therefore they died from selfishly refusing to eat despite all of the effects and consequences. Most people acknowledge that the anorexic person was very very ill and have much sympathy for that person and recognize that they had very little control over their disorder if any at all. When it comes to drug addiction most people just haven't quite gotten there yet. I guess because of the stigmas once held and like I mentioned before the perceived malevolence of their selfishness. I guess what I'm trying to get across is that it's not really a chosen path. No one in their right mind would go out the way Layne did therefore Layne was not in his right mind. He was so sick and his sickness became his fate. The Layne crying and screaming within but not heard would have never wilted away the way he did. The organic Layne wanted love and life but the thing that took over and appeared to be Layne wanted him dead and it succeeded.
@@nylontusk1289 im closely familiar with addiction. i understand where youre coming from. he had the money and resources to go to any clinic in the wolrd and get clean. he couldve got the best therapy money could buy. he couldve got put under for the duration of the detox. he couldve got blood transfusions. ozone therapy. he made drug addiction his identity. he also lost his love tragically which plunged his vulnerable heart into a disastrous unrecoverable dive and plummeted. either way he is now timeless.
Layne is actually adorable and so is Eddie 😭
I remember watching this on MTV . The drummer says, “I’m not a strong swimmer…”
The Headbangers Ball from Action Park is so fun to watch
It's really sad how he went and if I think about him for too long, I can't help but tear up. Yeah, I was born in 2005 and never had a chance of meeting him anyway, but he's still a really big inspiration to me. I'm glad we have these happy moments with him, he seemed like a really good person with a sick sense of humor. It's important to remember the good times as well, so thanks for making this. It put a big smile on my face.
me too me too
I love how softly he speaks, yet screams with such verocity and feelings. It's so addictive. I still remember hearing him the first time and immediately finding that singer/group. RIP Layne and Mike.
Thank you for being my favourite singer Layne. You are iconic and will never be forgotten. Grunge is not dead as long as your legacy lives, along with Kurt, Scott and Chris.
im gonna say it. one of the best singers of all time
“We take a day at the water park very serious”
"We don't mess around"
happy birthday layne staley! we all miss you and your incredible talent 🫶🫶
Layne never had a problem with any band or band member. He made fun of Mustaine but who don't make fun of Mustaine Ulrich and Hetfield mocking Layne cuz of his addiction live in front of all those people. He's the biggest lush in rock history.
Hetfield is just a jerk, never liked him since that video emerged. Now admits he treated Jason like shit, claiming as an excuse that he (James) didn't have the skills to deal with the situation ie his own emotional insecurities... But wasn't that what they got Phil Towle in for..? Because "Metallica was falling apart"...
And then actively fkd Jason off and got Trujillo 😲
Watch him become a GuUuUd
Hetfield is a massive c#nt, even more so for taking the piss out of layne publicly like that. Metallica are great though
I wish James didn’t do that.. he’s better now, but Lars? He’s a scumbag there’s no changing him.
RIP to a legend

Layne Staley and Roy Orbison. My favorite singers of all time. I’m a guitarist and my list is hard for that. But for singers, it’s very easy to name my two favorites.
Bass player here, I love Layne and Roy, as well.
If I could make a humble recommendation, give Paolo Nutini a listen, in particular his live performances. He's the real deal. He's my favorite musician still with us.

Too bad that guy turned into a hypocritical loony
Omg! I loved this video sooo much.
He seems so cute and funny and kind.
He always seemed to be his true self.
I bet he was so fun to be around.
Alot of people with that much talent would be so full of themselves. What a legend in more ways than one.
I live north of Seattle, WA, but I used to go to a methadone clinic in Shoreline. The only thing I saw in the lobby was a cheap glass trophy case\bulletin board. The ONLY thing in there was a Layne Staley Memorial calendar for sale, $25, all proceeds go to the charity his mom started. I instantly felt relaxed😂. I hung out with a group of people that knew Layne, they would tell stories and other people would corroborate. I remember one story I was told, I wish I could remember the guys name, he said he'd come home late, and he would frequently find Layne sleeping in his bed, sometimes he would just climb in with him and pass out, sometimes he would get mad at Layne and make him go elsewhere. It was a party house and Layne new everyone. I guess he would crash there occasionally and he'd take whatever bed that wasn't in use at the moment. I wish I could remember more specific tales, I can only recall that everyone said he was really funny, sweet, loveable and goofy just like this video portrayed. It might sound a little farfetched but, I used to hang with a ex stripper\ coke dealer who was one of Demri's best friends too, all this was in 2005 to 2010 and back then it was a really, REALLY small world when it came to opioid addicts. I've heard the number of addicts in Seattle has risen since then, just a tiny, little bit.
I, for one, am shocked. 😂😂😂
Loved the video, reminded me of happier times
This video makes me happy, u really captured his fun personality 💗

I feel your pain hun, I was a roofer, my feet kicked out on a Damn metal roof, and I slid down & off the 2 story roof backwards, it broke my back in 3 places with a spinal cord injury & broke my right hand off my arm, they didn't think I'd be able to walk again, but painfully I can. I've got 2 titanium rod's from my mid back down to my pelvis & because of this opiate problem I can't get adequate pain & nerve meds, just bs meds from my family Dr, I haven't been in a pain clinic for about a year now, I've been searching for1, I hurt in different ways, different days & it's getting old, shits hard to kick, especially when I know that if I do some it'll help take away some of my aches & pains. I'm a care taker for my wife, she's in bad shape, with lung failure, I hate it for her, she's been going through it for over 6 year's now, it's been really depressing for the both of us in different ways, she's scared & I'm scared for her. Her birthday is coming up on the 30th of this month she'll be 45. Sorry to ramble on, I lost sight of the point. Ms Silvers I wish you health & happiness. Stay strong hun & never give up. May Heaven help us all
I think he did beat death and did become immortal... I think he was right.
Anyone who uploads AIC is a subscription for me 😎🤘🏽
I love Layne❤️ what a tragic loss.
I remember the water park scenes. Can't ever forget Jerry in that speedo 😍
Everyone always says that he was clean in the Rage clip in Australia, but those who know, know. You can hear it in his voice. He must have _just_ relapsed recently. Idk how the hell he got heroin into Australia, because it’s hard to find it there even today, from what I hear. But this was pre-9/11, I’d bet he snuck it in.
I don’t think he’s high in the last clip (at least not on opiates) because his voice is just higher and more responsive. But most of the other clips (especially the one in Australia), his voice is low, raspy, and soft like a pillow (typical opiate voice)
Trust me...heroin isn't hard to get here. Sometimes we might have a bit of a lull but it doesn't last long. It's very easy to get.
Edit- apparently speed's even easier to get. I haven't touched uppers for a few years but it's always been very accessible. Heroin's pretty much just as easy.
Maybe he wasn't using every day
When I hear Layne's voice i'm always happy
