  • Prozac or Fluoxetine is a medication that is used to treat mostly Depression but can also be used to treat Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and a severe form of PMS called PMDD . Get a Doctors perspective and learn the symptoms of depression and anxiety and how this medication can play a role in you treating it. You'll learn about both common and some of the more rare side effects that you should watch out for.
Prozac (Fluoxetine) is in the family of medications called Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI). They influence the amount of Serotonin that is available to help with mood and other functions of the body.
With depression you tend to have symptoms like difficulty concentrating, remembering things or making decisions. Fatigue, feelings of guilt, worthlessness, helplessness or hopelessness. People experience sleeping problems, mood swings, a loss of interest in things that you once enjoyed, appetite changes, generalized pain, persistent sad or empty feelings and even suicidal thoughts or attempts.
Those who are going through anxiety you may have symptoms such as sudden and unexplained onset of a rapid heart rate, sweating, trembling, shortness of breath, pain in your chest, fear of dying, numbness and tingling throughout your body or just a generalized feeling of anxiousness all the time that you just can’t explain.
If you are experiencing these symptoms you need to seek help from a professional. Go see your doctor and get an accurate diagnosis to figure out a good treatment plan for you. Remember depression and anxiety are real medical conditions and should be treated just as diabetes or high blood pressure need to be treated. You shouldn’t feel any different treating any one of these medical conditions.
We'll give a good overview in the video of the common side effects but its important to remember that most side effects if any are transient and can be minimized by working with your doctor. We will discuss more concerning side effects such as serotonin syndrome as well.

@@aliciam7774 Yes, Fluoride is a key ingredient of many psychiatric drugs like fluoxetine (Prozac®, Fluoxetine®).
Fluoride is a neurotoxin (despite being heavily used in dental application, municipal water and the pharmaceutical industry), there’s plenty of correlative data to insinuate this, and it passes the blood brain barrier along with many other things such as aluminum.
These drugs work in the short and intermediate term for many people but I feel as if there may be long-term ramifications that aren’t looked into enough.

Blimey you sound exactly like me. It took doctors 30 years to diagnose me with GAD by then I thought i was a alcoholic I was literally on suicidal death row for 3 years until I took prozac . Setraline failed effexor xr was to mindbending to stay on lexapro did 30 percent of the job. There is a reason prozac is so expensive and that is because it is the best 👌 there is a reason it was the only antidepressants to become a fashion trend and that is because it generally works on most people that truly need it. What people have to remember is that these medications are for genuinely ill people who have absolutely no other way out not for people who are depressed because they can't be bothered to go to the gym. I am saying this because these medications have to be for life for people with disorders. Obviously people with disorders have the option to take them or not but if a person needs them they need to remain on them because of the way they work. No antidepressants works once a person stops taking it. They are reuptake meaning they use the serotonin we have more efficiently and block it from escaping the brain to quickly, stop taking and your back to square one. This is why people can commit suicide also they think the medication didn't work but all they needed to do was keep taking it. They all work differently on different people so don't stay on one medication to long if it's only slightly helping when potentially it could work 100 percent or near to. It took 6 weeks and 2 days for me to get any benefit from prozac and 11 weeks before it started to eradicate my rumination and crippling worry. I can drive and breathe at the same time now it's not perfect any days or all day but it's a world away from a mind that was telling me to kill myself sometimes 5 hours a day. I haven't drank for 3 years and will never drink again it's just asking for a breaking bad meth lab in my mind to turn me crazier. I have a chemical imbalance I don't need to add to it. When I got my diagnosis for GAD I finally understood alcohol was my escape from my overthinking but without medication 💊 I'd still be fooked.

I had bad experience SSRI,s (Prozac being one of them)
Been on CBD treatment for about a year, no more anxiety, panic attacks and I participate in random tox screens (employment) and have never had a dirty test result.

The more questions I answered I noticed they seemed to be going in a certain direction. I didn't see what my mother and friend had written. When they all were put together they matched. You will be come addicted to this mediation, I was on it 26 years and was bounced around from Doctor to Doctor for decades. I finally tried it in my mid thirties, and it was a huge mistake. Just before Covid I lost my Doctor and my meds. It's a complicted story but once you are on this med you will be a prisoner of it the rest of your life and you are vunerable to people who might want to hurt you or have biased against you. .They are lying, it is an extremely addictive med. I would only take it as a very last resort after trying everything else from Diet, exercise, to MOVING. Many people live in the wrong environments for their constitution. Please do not take this medication unless you are on you very last ropes. I am now in my sixties and when you get older, they lose interest in helping you that is the bottom line. Now I am off the med and deeply depressed with no where to turn and my trust in the system broken. Also, under no circumstamces are you to take the Experimental Covid shots if you have been taking an SSRI. It is potentially deadly and they are not telling you. Only take this med if you are prepared to stay on it permanently or switch around SSRIs the rest of your life, and I mean until death. They put seniors at the end and in hospice on Floxitine or other SSRIs often without thier knowledge to try to make the end less horrible. Only in extreme circumstances should you try these drugs, they spoiled my life and made it worse. I became slave to the drug and ended up never doing much of anything constructive with my life, just going from appointment to appointment year after year with people using me. Also, only if you have a support system willing to defend you help you and care for you should you have adverse effects from these drugs! There is nobody for me to hold accountable now.

It's to soon for you to have any side effects other than the immediate ones like drowsiness , see my comments below and quit this drug immediately. After a while it will be nearly impossible to get off, they are lying. Most people end up spending years weaning off of it after taking it only a few months. There is something in your LIFESTYLE making you depressed; drugs, alcohol, oh and by the way, SSRIs can't be takin safely by people who drink alcohol. That's 80% of all people in the world.. They do not tell you the truth espacilly if they are on the left. @@FeatheryBird i have anxiety and panic attacks every single night . It can't get any better without Prozac. I just started it . I don't want to be dependent on meds , but since I can't fix it in any other way , i chose to take it . My psychiatrist told me that i have to do CBT therapy at the same time when taking the meds to see what's going wrong with me and start working towards being happier and healthier. She told me i I'll have to take the pills for 3-4 months or 6 while doing CBT . She said that this ways i won't have to take Prozac for any longer than that . So 🤷 this can't be the best for everyone but i think some people might really need this medication long-term .

@@FeatheryBird I’m no doctor, but 26 years on SSRIs sounds like an extremely long time to take them . It seems at that point, it’s almost safe to assume that your body is depleted of serotonin and dopamine to where your body is fully reliant on the drug. Everyone’s chemistry is different, and it honestly just sounds like your chemical balance is really off. The idea that your body has stopped interacting correctly with these chemicals is further implied by you feeling depressed even after 26 years. I know a guy who was on it for 4 years and claimed even that was much longer than it’s intended to be used. I’m unfortunately at a point where when I try to climb out of my hole it just grows deeper and Prozac (along with Hydroxyzine and Vraylar which I have also been prescribed) are my last hope, unless the medications cause bad results in which I’ll have to consult my doctor and change. Honestly I’ve smoked marijuana for three years and it helps with my depression a lot. I know some people who claim it helps with anxiety and while that may have been true for a bit, I get pretty anxious on it now. It should be used in moderation and obviously only if you’re in a legal state (though I won’t say whether I’m in one or not), but it could definitely be an option. Again, take into consideration that it’s also something you can get dependent on and make you more depressed the more you use it, causing the time you’re not high to be a pretty rough experience. Really hope you find some peace soon.

    • @deadmemelol
      @deadmemelol Před 2 lety

I'm not a doctor, but I can explain how the drugs work.
Prozac "locks" the "door" serotonin leaves the neurons through, so more serotonin is available to be used. Zyprexa works by changing the balance of dopamine and serotonin in the brain, which helps lift mood and reduce symptoms of psychotic disorders.
Zyprexa is an atypical antipsychotic, not an SSRI. There is a risk of serotonin syndrome when any serotonin-affecting drugs are combined, so do call your doctor is you have a high fever or other symptoms. The risk of TD with atypical antipsychotics like Zyprexa is lower than older drugs, so you should be okay. Hope I helped!

Same also 15 years when I took it I had ticks it was about 12 months in. I soon decided to stop it as for me it was not making any difference if I took it or not I gave it good 2 years and for many years after I felt ok didn’t even feel the withdrawal at all although I stopped cold turkey ( maybe I really didn’t need it) maybe as it’s longer lasting I didn’t feel it it stays in your system for a while even after stopping it. Thankfully the ticks did dissipate months or so after stopping it. Only thing in fine print it does say ticks like leg twitching ect can become a permanent issue but think if you stay on it very long time. I just now started to take it again 15 yrs later. It’s not helping me as much than again it’s only been a month. My friend though had extreme improvement in good life when he took it. Everyone’s different.
I agree out of many antidepressants ( that made me feel like zombie only sleep not wanting to do anything and weight gain) Prozac had least of any of these side effects. Only into a year I started getting involuntary neck limb arm twitching ( involuntarily ticks) so I decided it was good idea to stop but I was on it enough time more than a year. I’d talk to the pharmacist as my doctor didn’t know anything when it came to drugs/ meds sidesffdcts ect even dosing. Than again i knew somewhat as equal about dosing as I’m a nurse. Sometimes and this is also longer into the treatment you can get loss of sexual desire this is dependant in dosing and more in men. The higher the dossge the more chances you get some of the sidedffects. I was ok with the 20 but some people feel that after trying on lowest which is actually 10mg they need to go to a couple or few months in to 20 or40mg. I personally especially if your worried about size effects would not dabble into anything more than 40 mg per day. Again some people’s depression and the need to be medicated at higher level is very severe vs moderate so I’d talk it over with a dr. I just do not enjoy feeling medicated and feeling lack of motivation which at 2omg I felt great and actually started to get more feeling to go out to join a gym or be social . There are people with more severe mental disorders than mild to moderate depression and I’m not commenting on that specctrum lines my friend did example had psychosis that was just treated s as depression when the right treatment for him was to add certain meds to vis depression regime that break specific to the psychosis etc .
