I wasn’t going to do this sew along, however you reeled me in. I inherited yards and yards of fruits and veggie fabric from my late sister I have 25 + different ones but at least 20 that will look great in jars.
Peas, mushrooms, blueberries, strawberries, peaches, broccoli, oranges etc etc etc.
I’ll be doing the large jars but filling them to the top, no air space. My lids will all match either black or grey I’ll have to go stash diving to find what I need.
You are such an inspiration, thank you for all the joy you bring to all of us from your Sloan Zone.

Can’t wait to see it, maybe a mushroom border out of a mushroom fabric that u have more of? Or a scrappy mushroom border. Will be exciting to see!!!

I think I am going to squeeze in a sew-a-long of yours in with all my other quilts starting now for my New Year's Resolution this year! The canning jar quilts remind me of the books of the library quilts where there really are endless things we could add in for our saved trims and keepsake stashes (many of mine are in old jars to keep them safe). I was reminded of a canning jar quilt from a nother man who quilts. Dave's Craftroom with Dave has a jar quilt he made for a child with fun things and a few bugs and such for fun interest. So glad you are using some of your mushroom fabrics for this! I thought, mushrooms or buttons the first instant you said canning jar quilt. We still can. It is something we had in common when we met. Love the creativity that you spark in us! Love watching you so much! Aloha and keep quilting! 🧵🧵🪡🪡

Wow...this might just be the project to resurrect my sew-jo. It was completely gone after a longarming mishap in January. I didn't work on any quilt projects or even watch quilt videos after that and have been missing it. But as an avid canner, this really appeals to me! Might not make a wall hanging but can definitely envision making several canning 'mats' to use in my kitchen for canning sessions. Thank you, thank you Pat!

I prefer to fold as I go after cutting. It takes up more space to put in a pile and encourages wrinkles. I am thinking about doing the big pattern but only make 9 jars for a 3x3 wall hanging.

    Hello, Pat!
I always enjoy learn a lot from your fabric choice segments. I love the idea of using all mushroom prints!
I have a canning jar pattern on my ‘sometime’ list for a while! I’ve wondered about how to show the ‘empty’ part of the jar. While watch today’s segment, it came to me that one option would be to overlay tule-or other sheer fabric-over a piece of the background fabric, and treat it as one fabric. This would give the illusion of the transparency of canning jar. A pale blue or aqua over a light background; or perhaps a white, cream or light grey over a dark background might work. It would be easy to test with swatches at the fabric😅 shop. I would definitely use a narrow sashing between tall jars and adjust the number of jar to suit.
Hmmm… I think it would be a good opportunity to do a test block, or perhaps a runner.
    Thank you, and stay well!

You could use just a few different fabrics - a solid and maybe a couple small prints (love the sleepover). Ball has made clear jars, blue, green, and even dark amber and purple, though it's hard to see the contents in those. I like the idea of all the "clear" (just a little lighter or darker than your background, or maybe that light blue) and a single jar done as an "accent".
