And they're both gone now, Ritter and the Ranch. Sigh. This was very nice.

It is a shame that the park closed two years after this production. Earlier this year it was bulldozed. But the good news is that the ranch house and barn have been preserved. They will be relocated to a new plot closer to Lake Tahoe.

I'm so glad that I visited the Ponderosa Ranch back in the early 1990's while it was still around. Regardless of whether it was used that much on the show or not, it still evoked great memories of growing up with the show. And, the first sequel movie had just recently shot there, so it was in very good shape. It's sad that the park closed. I'm glad to hear that the house and barn were preserved.

I don't think Ritter filmed this in 2003. Probably more like that late 1990s. The Ranch's last year open was 2004. Ritter died in 2003.

@lodi senior the program was called "TV Road Trip" and originally aired on The Travel Channel in April 2002. There was another episode in 2003 that visited other television series related locales. I have a copy of a filming permit from late 2002 for filming at Paramount Ranch, the home of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, which may have been for the 2003 episode. I'm not sure if there were any beyond those two episodes, as IMDB only lists two.

@@donbitz2697 Wish I could see it again. I remember liking many of the segments, like the Bronson Caves tunnel that was the Batcave entrance. Adam West with the original Batmobile, and promptly accidentally ripping the Batphone cord loose from the car when he lifted the handset to pretend he was taking a call. The actual Georgia town square where the first few episodes of Dukes of Hazzard were filmed.

I tire of this type of farce. The Tahoe location wasn't even built until 1969. The house on the series was a sound stage. The Tahoe location house was hardly used in the series but was used in the Next Generation movies. It is a great replica, but just a replica none the less. As a matter of fact there were many so called Tahoe scenes that were actually shot in Big Bear. Go to www.scenesofthe ponderosa.com. It lists all the shooting locations of the series.
