Grasshopper B-Sides:
A video series that chronicles the video games in Grasshopper Manufacture's catalog. In the NINTH episode, I'll be analyzing their most successful game LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW. I dig into the influences of the game, some of which have been overlooked throughout the years. We will compare both the PS3 & 360 versions of the game and discussing the possibility of a sequel.

I just got this game at a pawn shop for a buck, excited to start!
Get it son
Your stuff is extremely underrated. You put so much effort into your videos and I always get excited when one pops up in my subscriptions. I'm going to start "liking" and "sharing" your videos because I feel like you're the one dude that I actually care to see succeed.
Take us to the moon!
Hey man, really enjoying your vids; super high quality. You really should have higher subscriber count just based on the professionalism alone. I look forward to more of your content and hope your channel grows!
I appreciate that!
He definitely should, let’s all share it with others and try to grow his viewership!
i keep forgetting i did the intro music for these and every time i hear it im like :O
It gets me pumped errytime I lay that track in the timeline
it sounds amazing, pretty close to silent hill style, where I can listen to it?
Your channel is CRIMINALLY under rated... These videos are fantastic, I assumed you would be in the hundreds of thousands of subs.
the marketing myself bit has always been a problem. I appreciate you stopping in, more is on the way!
In the Japanese Xbox 360 version juliet have the Same voice as Kodomo no Jikan's Rin Kokonoe and in the ps3 she have the same voice as Mio from K-on
you spin me right round baby
👈💫👶💫
Only one Grasshopper game left to analyze (well, there's more but still): That Evangelion Rhythm game for PSP, designed by Suda himself.
How random!
Alright, that does it. I've had this game on my shelf untouched for years and years now and it's high time I played it finally. Thank you, my friend. Great video, always smile seeing your stuff pop into my feed.
ty so much Shadow!
Ohh my god 2:42 i watched this movie when i was little... I was looking for the this for so long because i can't remember anything but those gory scene, and you just mentioned it randomly, I'm in love with your content already, keep it up.
REMAKE CONFIRMED BABYYY!!
Another fine retrospective! This game always intrigued me though I think the tone might be a bit too quirky for me. But it does look fun. I had no idea James Gunn was involved, wow.
Also, You're a fan of Joe Bob briggs? That's cool. I got to know about him through the AVGN. He's a cool guy too.
I was fortunate enough to meet Joe Bob three times. First time he came to my town and gave an introduction to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Then he just sat back and watched with us. LEGEND
@@HikikomoriMedia Awesome!
Great job on this retrospective! I never got past Stage 3, so seeing how the rest plays out was entertaining. While not my favorite Suda game, I do appreciate its lively tone in a time when most zombie based fiction was more serious.
i thought you had 5.24mil for a second holy shit your content is so underrated KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
Thanks for the good words friend
Ended up here after finding out about the game getting a remake and remembering that I enjoyed the game back when it came out on 360 and started looking up some videos on the game.
The video was great, and you've definitely got a new sub from me.
(Hopefully this comment gives some help with the CZcams algorithm too for engagement and stuff)
Glad you enjoy it!
"If it bleeds, I can kill it." Predator any one?
I'd love to see your eccentric and thorough retrospective style be applied to more western games. You resonate well with the weirdness of Japanese titles, so I wonder how your approach will impact the experience when delving into different territories.
That intro though!👀👀👀
Excellent video, as always.
I love your vids
ty!
Love the video, Miles. Keep up the good work.
stay tuned
Considering a greater part of my high school years had Mindless Self Indulgence on my MP3 player, Jimmy Urine's inclusion is what sealed the deal for me to play this game. Suda's hijinks by that point in time, had really begun to fizzle out for me. But new tracks with Lil' Jimmy? Hell yeah.
Jimmy is still killin it in his old age. Check out Euringer!
Replayed it a few months ago and it was a lot more solid than I remembered. So that was a nice surprise.
Like your signed Joe Bob artwork you have in the background. This video gets 4 stars, check it out!
I 'preciate it Mutant Fam
4:28 I remember when I was a kid and saw cardboard cutouts of this game at the store and a bunch of people getting that game. I didn’t really care, I just looked through the Nintendo DS and wii stuff.
I guess I was 8 years late to the party. Cuz I went back to that same store recently to get shadows of the damned and lollipop chainsaw for my Suda51 marathon in hype of NMH3 and all the PS3 games were gone.
I was actually able to beat the baseball run the first time I played it, first try. Then on replays, I fucked up too much
So I’ve been listening to the original tracks and HOLY FUCK THEY’RE SO GOOD!!! They really did get overshadowed, at least you can track them down online to listen but it really does suck they get so overshadowed in the actual game!
I wanted to play Shadow of the Damned...but games with timelimits make me run away. xD And yes I bought Lollipop Chainsaw on release day :D
Did you cut the intro about James gunn's barely legal twitter habbits?
Ahhhh this game felt like a weird fever dream.
Howdy
howdy howdy howdy
I watched this one
Great vid as usual.
Personally I've always retained Lolipop chainsaw as grasshopper's worst game, as I think gameplay wise it's really dull and sluggish. watching this though I'm kinda half tempted to give it another go as I haven't touched it in years. The one thing I will give the game this is that Yamaoka's music kicks major ass and I 100% agree that the license music overshadows how good it is.
Thanks for checking it out. I DO recommend playing on Hard or even Very Hard. They limit the amount of Lollipops you can have in stock and throw secret super zombies at you. It certainly made for a more engaging experience.
@@HikikomoriMedia I'll keep that in mind, adding harder enemies might out the mechanics in mind.
Good shit.
Stil don't understand why the PS3 version would load so much slower.
They probably didn't fully use the horsepower of the Cell processor to decode or what ever it should do.
00:25 what is the name of this music ❤️
Love you miles.
premier lets gooooo
Honestly? If they just removed the songs that aren't original, and instead used the game's own soundtrack, maybe remixed, and re-released it on pc I really wouldn't mind at all and I'd yeet money into it, I'd throw money at anything with the grasshopper logo in it tho'.
That would be the best route for sure. I would still keep Toni Basil in there though
@@HikikomoriMedia Definetely, that one is worth doing whatever they do to keep the song in, it's part of the game's identity a bit.
@@QMMarc Odds are that PC players would mod the original OST back if we got that scenario, so I hope it happens.
Is it just me or does morikawa sound like kaz from hi hi puffy ami yumi
LOLLIPOP MMMM
What is that video called at 5:41
it's the official lollipop chainsaw trailer
@@HikikomoriMedia i know, it’s just like without the effects that are usually in the original trailer
Basically No More Heroes with a sexy girl instead. Nice.
